Great interview! It was an honor to be a part of this build for Hans, and working with him, to get the color, design, and artwork that honors his friend Julio. It's nice to see hard work pay off when everyone involved is top notch and their craftsmanship, parts, and pieces, all come together to form such a stunning work of art on wheels.
Loved your story. I own a 89 FXR that was passed on down to me from my pops that I will probably be buried with if they respect my last wishes. I have taken it on cross country solo trips. I usually hook up with other Harley riders on the road. Last trip hooked up with a kid 25 yrs old, a grizzled old guy in his late 70's and me in my late 50's. Each of us on the long haul with no windshields. I dubbed us the bug eaters. The kid told me of his ride coming up from lands end Florida on the west coast side. He said the bugs were so thick that leaving the state of Florida, he said he looked like he was dipped in green snot. I could see that he had been bite by the touring bug. He was riding 18 hour a day and sleeping on his bike at rest stops. I battled sandstorms, got snowed in for days, ran from tornados and battled 40 mph sidewinds riding across Texas. Which kicked my ass. But hearing this kids stories made me feel soft. To be 25 again and to do it all over again would be a dream come true. My dad road until he was 87 years old. I hope I have his staying power. The long tours deliver the best life stories. Folk, just get out and do it. This is true freedom in all american style. Ride ON!
Idaho is full, roads are gravel and potholes, all women are hideous. Don't move here. Especially if you're from CA. I just got the Ramjet Thunderheader FXR Evo bracket installed. Holy shit, it's stout. You could stand on that thing. Makes the stock Thunderheader bracket look like garbage.
Touching story behind this bike, thanks for sharing, Hans!

In Arizona there dozens of top notch bike shops. Ramjet stands out at the top and that says something.
This is by far my favorite episode. Also ramjet is my favorite motorcycle shop in az.
