I bought one of these and put it in my 2017 Toyota Prius v and had it up and running in less than 10 minutes and that included assembly. I didn’t want to remove the installed system that only has Entune which has sucked since I bought the car. This unit is great works great with the aux cord and uses my car speakers. I am happy. Car is paid off and now I have this.
Excellent, comprehensive review. I bought mine last week and have been enjoying it ever since. My previous car was a 2013 Camry. I replaced the head unit but one of the drawbacks besides the expense was that it lost some of its functionality. I now have a 2018 Renault Clio with no Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. My girlfriend has an iPhone and I have a Samsung Galaxy A71. The car has an AUX input so that's not an issue and I don't use the unit for calls. I'm having the rearview camera professionally installed next week. Yes, it is a bit of a pain stowing and setting up each time but none-the-less, I LOVE this thing!
I wish pioneer, JVC, Sony, etc would make one of these dash mount Apple CarPlay/android audio radios. I’m sure they would preform better. Also, I hear some of these Carpuride devices can connect to your cars speakers through Bluetooth if your vehicle is equipped with it.
Only the 10" model currently has this feature. And if your car requires the device to enter a pin, then it won't connect as it has no on screen keyboard. They do warn you that the Bluetooth will not work on all make and models of cars with stock radios.
I’ve got carpuride in my Sonata and I love it so much. My car came with Bluetooth from factory so I just connect to the default Bluetooth and do the wireless CarPlay and it works like a charm
I effortlessly connect my iPhone to the magnet charger in my car without the need for plugging it in, thanks to the convenience of MagSafe. I have also configured shortcuts to automatically open my maps through Bluetooth on my inexpensive FM adapter as soon turn the the car key, While Carpuride may seem appealing, the setup and removal process is cumbersome, which is why my friend with an older car rarely uses it his Carpuride, Therefore, for now, I prefer sticking to just using my iPhone in my old car, especially considering its adequate 6-inch screen size in landscape mode.
Wow, you guys were really thorough with this review, like really thorough. I actually bought this a few weeks ago and you’re basically describing every experience I had. I’ve watched other reviews, and you guys are the MOST thorough. Seems like you had a lot of experience with this before reviewing, good job!
@@DHRME I actually got the longer screen version, it’s the 104, I did use an AUX cord and the sound quality is much better than FM transmitter. Yes, I’m keeping mine and do have a good experience with it. I also tucked the wires.
Dang. Wish i would have watched this BEFORE I ordered the W103 Pro. So many things that don't work. I have to use a USB connection between the Carpuride unit and my phone so even more wires cluttering up my car. My biggest concern is the Carpuride unit gets very HOT. I understand electronics getting warm during use but this is downright 🔥 I don't appreciate having to connect my expensive phone with a cable to it. I'm within the time frame to send it back so most likely will.
Update: After watching your video and several others I think I've figured the Carpuride out and will be keeping it. I can use Bluetooth between it and my phone so that helps. Still too many wires for my taste but I can live with it. I think the screen is way too big and I should have gotten a smaller one. I have 4 vehicles I could potentially use this in. Any ideas on what I can use for a mounting stand to keep it upright so I can put it on the seat or console next to me?
Thanks for this thorough review need to purchase something like this for my pops car. On the matter of not having aux port in your car, you could just get a Bluetooth transmitter and you could go further and get an aux splitter and have the secondary line go to a mic
The best thing about Carpuride is the screen & 9in option. It doesn't even have a front cam input, weak processor & low ram. The price point on these top mobile units don't match the feature set. The Atoto P8 has more features but the screen isn't great & no 9in option. I'm still waiting for a portable device with "most" of the features of a higher end in-dash head unit, like the Teyes CC3 to hit the market
I put up my review of the W103 the other week. The 707 looks to be supported by the arm, while the W103 is actually too heavy. The W103 also supports Bluetooth audio to cars, but not to my particular car's radio (they do mention this). The W103 12v power actually hooks up to the unit by USB C. I have heard that on older cars with actual cig lights, and not just 12v ports, yes, it will drain your battery. My car's 12v port is shut off when the car is. As for the loud option... I find it useful, but I keep the unit's volume at 10, which allows me to adjust the volume by my radio. But, yes, the turn by turn or vice assistant features volume is very muted. Good in depth video.
Thank you for your informative Video. I have encountered an interesting problem with my carpuride device. I have it hooked up to the Aux outlet and the cigarette lighter power supply. Once hooked up I noticed that my TPMS light would come on infrequently. It has never done this before and I had the tires checked out by Les Schwab and even had them rotated. Les Schwab couldn’t find anything wrong with me tires and even resetting the car computer didn’t help. The very next day after the reset, the amber TPMS light came back on together with the amber tire traction symbol. I went WTH? I looked at my car’s manual to troubleshoot the TPMS light. I found an interesting paragraph in the manual. “Some electronic devices using radio wave frequencies similar to the TPMS could cause the TPMS sensors to malfunction.” I removed the carpuride device and aux cable to test it. My car hasn’t had a problem with the TPMS sensors since.
This is fairly expensive, but not a bad unit all up. I've seen a device from Seicane that is about $100 and does carplay and android auto. Not a full radio, but the factory head unit is the full radio, so don't need a "portable" one :)
Over 200 pounds? For 150€ I got a whole head unit, which mind u sits in the dash and replaces that gosh darn old stereo. Eonon x20 for anyone interested. Wireless carplay/android auto. Mirrorlink and airplay (I actually got airplay to work) I'm also very pleased with the sound quality and the boot times. Something which made the difference for me is the included capacitor on the positive wire. Basically when u spin the starter motor to start the engine, the voltage drops and most car stereos just plain restart - not with this one. The capacitor holds enough charge for about 5 seconds of no power and prevents this.

You can. From your phone to the Carpuride device. But the dilemma is: where do you hear the sound from? It’s either the speaker on the Carpuride OR through your FM radio OR through the audio cable connected to your car.
Still trying to understand the point of it. Just put the phone in a mount and it does all of the above without 3 more wires in the car. Why would I spend more money if it does exactly what the phone does ?
I hope no one erders from them anymore. I placed an order for the W103 and have yet to even receive tracking information... i'll have Paypal sort this out, i'm tired of being jerked around by chinese scammers.
Like the detailed review and read your article as well. Made me pause my buy to rethink the fact this is a breaker for Phone use . Looks like I may need an external mic - do you have any suggestions on a good mic ? Im still rethinking the extra wire i need to run somewhere - maybe under the steering or on the visor - but thats too much clutter
Cheers Raj! We’ve not tested external mics but we see Amazon has plenty of options. And you’re absolutely right, it will be another cable you’ll need to manage. Curious what you end up doing - good luck!
@@DHRME Best of Both worlds. After a pause and considering an aftermarket stereo with carplay wireless was going to be very expensive, i decided to take a shot at the W903 new model. Yes its inbuilt mic is not good. However with a small tweak the phone works with the cars built in Bluetooth including making the call from Carpuride screen . All other carplay functions work fine on the Carpuride. To do this , sync the phone Bluetooth with both the cars Bluetooth and carpuride. I have hooked the aux from carpuride to my car stereo. When you get into the car and start , wait for the phone detection and the carplay to get activated. At this time go to the phone Bluetooth, you should see the phone connected to the cars bt and carpuride. The carpuride will show active, tap the car bt and make that active , you are set for best of both worlds.
Unfortunately we don't have a built in CarPlay or Android Auto setup which works wired only. If we did, this would be an interesting product to review.
I usually enjoy your reviews, but I disagree with your conclusion in this video. The device is designed for car stereos with AUX In. If your car doesn’t have it, this device is not for you. The setup time is very reasonable compared to aftermarket car stereos with CarPlay or Android Auto. The separate volume adjustment for turn-by-turn navigation is a connected smartphone feature, not the device’s fault. On iPhones you need to adjust the turn by turn volume while it is speaking.
Thanks for your feedback. We agree it's made for cars with an AUX in - which we said too. But we disagree about the volume adjustment. We've tested this but you simply can't change the volume separately either on the iPhone or the car or the Carpuride, even while it is speaking.

Guys, this device sounds like it would be torture to use. A great gift for someone you don't like if you have the money to burn. Definitely not Vakman approved.
It's actually, overall, quite useful and not that hard to use. I have the 10" version, which is slightly more difficult to set up because of the unit's weight compared to the 7"and 9" versions (basically it needs to rest on the dashboard to have its weight supported by the suction cup arm). Other than that, just pair it with your phone and go. If you don't have an aux port, you'll need to find an FM station that it comes in clear on, as not every station even when not in use in a local area will have good sound quality. Aux is the best, though, for sound quality. It's supposed to be a cheaper, no permanent installation product. If you "have the money to burn" I would suggest, instead, buying and paying for the install of a new head unit for the person you're buying the gift for.
