Fantastic episode! Really enjoyed all the talk on competitive, the takes on genning and team building. Let's hope for a New Pokemon Stadium someday that has all the competitive needs.
I hope that Game Freak continues with cross gen evos in Gen 10. Annihilape & Kingambit were outstanding, it'd suck if they didn't as cross gen evos are a great way to breathe new life into otherwise forgettable Pokémon. I'd like to see a Shuckle evo with it's attack & defense stats swapped, a Skarmory evo based off the mythical Roc, and a beefy Komala evo where it's log becomes a tree that it uses for combat. I really hope they don't leave us hanging.
This was genuinely such a brain turn off and just listen podcast episode, I'm not SUPER familiar with competitive so hearing all of this was like learning and seeing what works!! VERY GOOD EPISODE!!!
I totally agree with scooteezy here, we don't need a new type we need a re-balance of the types we have. I see a lot of ideas for new types but they normally fall under other types, grass isn't just grass it's all plants. Some of the most common ideas for new types, bird type which is just the flying type, wind type is just flying type as flying is basically windriders, sound is just normal type. I would have bug type resist fairy and the normal type super effective against fairy. Steel does need another weakness, maybe water, bug or ice type not really sure which type or get rid of the poison immunity. Dragon is fine as is, you could do one more weakness but i don't really feel it needs it (unless its normal then hell yeah). Water needs more weakness, possibly ice and ice then resist water. My personal bias for this, which they should never do, is make normal super effective on every type other than ghost, make normal type the most broken type in the game. Normal type No.1
I didn’t know this but Matcha Gotcha will thaw the user if they use it and also thaws a frozen target! Scald will also thaw the user, even if the attack fails to hit the target! It’s so interesting learning about all this, kinda makes me wanna get into VGC
Gen 6 was probably my favourite gen for battling. I loved using mega Gallade with skill swap. There were so many people using using Azumaril with belly drum and huge power and Gallade just shut them down after skill swapping. It was also a decent counter to mega kangaskahn since it could swap for parental bond.
My item idea before loaded dice were introduced was ammunition bag were you get 5 hits with a multi hit move and then it used up to boost speed of an unburden user
32:34 I remember pokesports used a team like that for a video 37:10 also I saw with Sheer Cold too to just have another OHKO if run out of PP 1:07:32 the Sceptile strat is another one I saw on Pokesports too 1:15:06 that's a neat strat with Weather Ball 1:15:17 where's Stellar Metronome? 😂 1:15:34 I've seen a few Flutter Mane's use early to be Koraidon/Miraidon slayers if they Terra to lose Fairy weakness and lose to Stellar Terra Blast 1:33:21 also with Metagross we have stronger Bullet Puncher even with Technician that has built in Clear Amulet in Clear Body
I think, they did so much with Legends to change it to benefit a 1-player experience, and it's not a Dual Version SKU, Z-A probably is not going to have multiplayer. For gimmicks, I think it would be cool to have a 'Job system' so you could run like -Tank Mode- Arcanine and have it more bulky and defensive, or -DPS Mode- Arcanine and focus more on offense, or even like -Mage Mode- and have it do some supporty stuff like debuff opponents or something
I like idea of Strong/Agigle style, but I think the concept needs to be revised so you can't attack 3 turns in a row. Maybe Strong Style boosts damage by 15% and lowers speed 15% just for that turn. Agigle would then do the reverse. The benefit and drawback of choosing the style all takes place during the same turn.
47:05 thinking back on z-moves I think it would be a cool gimmick to give the player character a selection of like assist abilities, think the gameplay of monster hunter stories, but without the swords.
Hey guys long time fan here from holland I always watch you guys after work to relax my mind One question Is there a possebility you guys can host a hiddenpower pokemon tournament with other poketubers with live comment that would be awesome Imagine soulsilver versus birdkeepertoby
I do wish Pokémon would be Japanese as its roots. It is better to just wait. Quality matters the most. The school setting restricts too much of the adventure like always being in a school uniform for the rest of the game. Even the sprite era player trainers have nice clothes for being casual. I actually have fun with the overworld Ability effects as if my Pokémon are able to do other stuff outside of battling.
To be entirely honest. You shouldn't need to gen, and this isn't saying "Oh, use a different mon then that meta mon". it is saying that VGC shouldn't be using Pokemon that are not capturable in the game they belong to. That or they need to get over this "unknown egg group" BS that makes it so you can't breed a decent chunk of the Pokemon (mostly legends). Gameplay wise there is no reason for it, and lorewise there is no reason for it. The only reason it exist is for people to be excited about a specific event, but even then those aren't needed in anymore in the age of DLC when you get new capturable mons throughout the life of a game. Still want all mon to be transferable though, Also realistically we need a Battle Revolution or Stadium for the competitive scene. EDIT: really should let me finish before commenting lmao.
Can you guys use any other song in the intro besides the BB Academy theme? I get it's to stay current with whatever game is going on in the present but that song specifically is getting repetitive. Maybe it's time to change it to Lumiose City or even the ORAS Mauvile City remix because of Legends Z-A and we're going back to the Mega timeline.
Haha poor Dusty. He did a good job trying to keep up with the VGC talk. Great episode guys!
Pokemon Stadium 3 is a must for Competitive so the Main Series can just focus on the Story only.
I wouldn't say story only but the collection, Raids, and multi-player elements
I wish they would do that
@@devontekuykendall3565 Only for the Stadium spinoff because having that in the main series Story.
Ngl, never heard of Scooteezy but dropped everything to listen anyways 😂 Great interview boys
Be sure to check him out! He is the GOAT!

First props to dusty in a while. People forget about pokken hard even though it had a competitive scene.

27:26 remember that in legends of Arceus kept Regigigas ability
"fixated" was an interesting mechanic as well

1:07:32 the Sceptile strat is another one I saw on Pokesports too
1:15:06 that's a neat strat with Weather Ball

Let's go! Needed this while watching my girls and shiny hunting sudowoodo in crystal VC ❤
Hubby made smash burgers. Good evening 😊
Good evening! I want a burger now!

They killed Soul again
Chill
Na, they just boxed him
Can he just have a vacation?
Is that the replacement for Soul 😊

I'm not much for the online battles cause I get curb stomped everytime.
27:30 Honestly? I think there could be a possibility that only Mega evolutions have any sort of ability or ability like effect in Z-A.
no way gen 10 is getting megas gimmick back
Extra uploads 🙌🏽

45:35 the gimmick could be anything, I just want them to rework the type matchups. It's so bad.
Mario Odyssey was very much so NOT a launch title… The switch and Breath of the Wild had been out for a very long time before Odyssey
