Dino, I know it's all just sort of for fun and you don't always want to stand out, but if you're going to upgrade above mystics and risk other basic upgrades...
...Why not get a fat permanent stack of bandos/ancient (usually equally the cheapest, and bandos stands out the least) blessed hide tops (literally just the tops, forget the chaps, just whatever, Nezzy+bloodbark top+bottom+bandos hide top + blk hide chaps), by at most leaving in long-term cheapish offers (if you have room and care about GP for some reason) for like ~140-210k gp ea? Just blood bark top/bottom combo are 300k total. The blessed bodies are relatively a bit high right now, but they drop below 200k often. There's no reason not to own like 10-20+ of them.
These 150-200k budget tops have +25 more stab, +9 slash, and +15 crush def, +5 more range and mage def, and +1 pray, so 3.33% longer pray lasting. While fang is broken and frankly needs a slight PvP accuracy nerf for what it costs, +25 def still matters.
So even against the more affordable +1s melee setups like AGS 2x maul, or AGS spec>maul, it's like an overall fury ammy melee def buff and half a fury mage/range def buff...for ~190k gp more. Blood bark body is nearly same melee def stats (-2 -8 +4 vs. blessed hide top), but obviously no range def and ~half as good mage def.
If only marginal stab def actually mattered in PvP these days.
I've recently discovered very personally why guys make level like 113-118cb "meds" with usually 82atk, and a specific ~80-99 def lvl to min-max depending on whether 77 or 80/81 pray, instead of traditional 75atk 70def 108cb like me, or the superior 75atk 75def 109cb. It's because the fang poke is the new infinite d claw spec, where accuracy doesn't statistically matter and at 82atk + piety + pots, d claw spec/ fang poke/obviously waker spec might as well be 99atk. 90/low 90s def + 99 mage might as well be 99 def as well, since DPS isn't everything anymore.
I may go 108>109cb soon, just can't compete with the serp helm antivenom, DFS, boots, etc., but honestly seems like a waste of time overall without 82atk.
I miss not being hacked and still being being 60atk 103cb, or even better min-maxed 98cb 60atk ~84str 70def 94hp (for brews and anglers) 95mge 95rng 77pry, or ~91str for 100cb elite void.
Just 82atk 75def 77pry is already 111.825cb, without Eldinis ward unlock.
So yeah, I'm one of those lvl 108-109 idiots you destroy every time without fail with either 82atk 80s-high 90s def 77/80pry 113-117cb, or an actual main.
