Until you said it, I would have sworn tempest shield does indeed have a line "this damage cannot be reflected".
RIGHT??? I could be crazy but I would have sworn it used to have that line too & I don't remember it ever being changed but it 100% doesn't have it currently.
@@CaptainLance9 I remember the same thing, I thought it was in the league with molten shell and stuff. Is this Mandela effect of PoE?
I thought so too.
It def had this
The effect of Mandela is strong in this one
The crazy thing about this for me is that you figured out what killed you. I would be absolutely clueless like I'm on most of my deaths.
having recording of the death hard carries here. it is much harder to figure out what you died to not being able to go back and watch the death happen.
Dying to Reflect on a Chaos DoT build is like getting fired on your day off 😂
A coworker came in on a day off to cover a shift and was drunk so he got fired halfway through. I ran 2 lines by myself. 👌
Some of the water creatures have abilities that hit 30 times a second so tempest shield was really doing the work !
Plus the ghost doggies. They are basicly walking gatling guns.
@@izaruburs9389top comment 😂
so it was like a secret anti yourself build
I also thought: wait, wasn't there a line cannot be reflected?
But maybe it always just was unnoticeable
3.16 Change: "Now has Deals 38 to 115 Lightning Damage at gem level 1 (previously 24 to 26), up to 896 to 2688 at gem level 20 (previously 284 to 426)."
You feel that
GGs! Glad you're sharing the learning!
That demonstration is like 10 percent of what was attacking you with delirium
yeah the shrine doesnt seem to be a good example, maybe 5 of the mobs are actually attacking and everything else just stands around and besides that his character went down to 50% a few times
mad respect for the runs, looking forward to more hc action
Thank goodness there's a death log that helps you learn from your mistakes!
It is a little hard to find in the UI though.
It just feels like tempest shield damage is already reflected damage and thus would not be able to be reflected again. (Like molten shell)
Oh and according to the wiki reflect can be mitigated by block, suppression, evasion and spell dodge (if applicable to the thing being reflected)((based on a 2014 forum post by mark_ggg))
Tempest Shield is not reflect damage.
The first character I ever got to level 100 was a CoC Forbidden Rite and tempest shield made that process very annoying on reflect maps lol. My buddy asked me "Why not just turn it off?" and to that I replied "because Im stupid". I had never really thought about tempest shield dealing enough damage on ele reflect maps to kill me. But once he said that and I tested it, I never died on ele reflect maps again.
Tempest shield has reflected in a long time. I remember dying with it in 3.17 on my COC FR (in softcore) thats how i found out
great analysis, thank you!
Thats why I LOVE those indepts death reviews
I didnt knew Tempest Shield could be reflected
you even died to reflect like zizaran. so fitting lol
Glad to see you enjoying hcssf. I gave it a try this league as well and had a lot of fun.
I would like to see a creator put together a list of ways to die. From common ways such as accidentally leaving res uncapped or not understanding boss fight mechanics, to this death and other uncommon deaths.
A couple more examples:
Reflect from phys taken as
Invisible mechanics after reentering a boss fight
Failing to read mods in each delve biome the route passes through
I lost a character this league because I forgot to read the random mods on a breachstone and it rolled two phys as extra ele mods.
HC is a mental game. It feels like more often the deaths are due to mental errors rather than being outplayed.
Brooo that's rough
as a noob, i enjoyed following along the ssf journey learning a thing or two
Chaos dot lets go ! How did you level your char up?
Wow I never considered this, very useful video. I too thought it stated damage could not be reflected? Guess I need to watch out for Tempest Shield on reflect maps
That's some Sherlock Lance sh1t there...
Just another indication playing hardcore is signing up to waste your time. GG lance.
Maybe herald of thunder has anti reflect, not sure. But I dont remember tempest shield to have anti reflect on it.
I'm kind of proud to see you're shifting into hc more. You have the right attitude for it. Just get back on the horse.
seemed shield sharge , but tempest shield will also happily do the job
4:35 your healthbar moves. imagine the same scenario with hasted souleaterish mobs :S
Are you going to try jung's league?
Oof rough RIP man.
sorry , but I just laughed hard when I saw you using tempest shield after reading the title..
This happend to me in sentinal on a coc forbidden rite char and it took me 5 portals until I recognized that tempest shield actual kills me in reflect maps
yea it can definitely get you killed on builds that scale a bunch of crit and spell damage, in the case of lance though, im confident that about 80%+ of the damage he actually died to was just monsters hitting him cause even on the map he shows afterwards where theres not many monsters hitting he still gets chunked for like 3k sometimes
@@strandwolf796 consider this is a crit map, which wasnt the map he got killed by, the mobs would have significantly less dmg in that scenario
I'm sure that you are aware but you can use brutality to remove the damage flame dash, not sure if it works on tempest shield but I guess it should work.
Tempest shield bounces 👍
lmao
some of us had similar scenario happening to them
I had the same experience and it was so frustrating until I realised Tempest Shield was killing me. I knew it had to be reflect because it was the only common factor when it kept happening but it took way too long for me to even think it could be an "aura".
Old HC trick is to link flame dash to brutality. It should work with tempest shield as well.
I dont use it as sc player, But you should try it.
Think the strongbox also procced "Conductivity" briefly on you, tho I assume you probably have enough reduced curse effect to mitigate that.
Can someone explain why reflect is even in the game at this point
It’s such an archaic bullshit stat. It’s not interesting or engaging. It’s literally a checkbox. If you overlooked it in the mod line, you die
It COULD be fine if we weren’t doing damage that was 100000x our health pool, so even .1% reflect would kill us
most map mods are like that. no regen, leech, phys as chaos, hexproof etc. These all completely break builds. If you take all the map effect nodes on tree, like 80% of maps you roll will be so brutally difficult that you will die on an average build if you don't plan for them properly., like the less aura effect one basically turns off all your auras.
It's to encourage problem solving and create diversity.
@@MyNameIsSaloboth of those statements aren't true. Only certain mods break certain builds, most mods just make you weaker. This doesn't do anything for diversity either. But reflect is binary, either you have immunity or you die, this doesn't need arguing or further explanation, exaggerating being weaker to compare to instant death is just bad faith.
Pohx died same way to frostblink being overleveled lmao
I started playing HC after I got bored in SC, It was a lot of fun, there were so few people playing HC at that point it felt more like a private league and you had to SSF most of the stuff you wanted. It is a lot of fun trying out HC, I feel like my game knowledge greatly improved, especially in regards to defenses. Ended up getting all my watchstones and ripped my last 2 chars to aspirational content, which is how I wanted to die. I couldn't kill The Feared (ripped my str stacker) or any of the Ubers, that's for next league.
I loooove Chaos Dot Trickster and last time I tried that it sucked IMO. But your build seems to be reaaalllly tank and comfy.
Question 1: how much DPS did you have to clear maps?
Question 2: map bosses, were they easy?
Question 3: if you didn't use Balabala, what would you use?
Question 4: would you recommend it for a League Start scenario having in mind fun and comfyness above performance and money making?
Luv your videos ever since the pantless aurastacking video.
ye that docks mob hits like shavrone on a +12proj b2b lol
0:32 these girls hit like shotgun truck, and yet you took 0 dmg nor to them nor to reflect
are you sure you died to reflect? since ed+cont build lacks ele damage?
It might be a waste of socket but you can link void manip with tempest shield
It would increase the reservation tho
@@Dargor_ would only be relevant for reflect maps. Nice option if you are forced into running a reflect map., just recolor sockets for 1 map. Not a big deal
i wish they would delete reflect mod entirely
dying to tempest shield is so goofy lmao
Most of GGNoobs dmg was Tempest Shield.
And thats why i never ever use tempest shield for a good reason.
Well, you could just roll a map with reflect and test it out in standard if you die there, too. But damn, I thought no. 3 was the one, RIP.
F good run lance
Checking the wayback machine/internet archive, Tempest shield has never had reflect protection.
You could have been assuming it was a secondary/reflected damage, similar to how Molten shell works in it inherently having reflect protection due to it dealing reflected damage.
Wait, that's not cold dot.
for someone who appreciates the defensive mechanics as much as you im surprised that you dont play HC more often
Good job getting to 10 minutes
Sadeg
NOW
Honestly, this game can kill any build nowdays... I play only tanky builds and I really hate dying, still happens very rare, but it does...
when I have mana left for reservation and socket, I use void support
Reflect really shouldn’t be a thing in this game. it’s such a boring mod, you either die or don’t so binary.
It just adds frustration and isn't fun so it's got no redeeming value
F
Did you not have Purity of Elements on ? That should've mitigated your self damage.
You could link Brutality to your Tempest shield so it deals 0 damage. You'll have to resolve your mana reservation change for it, but it will make you reflect immune again
Why didnt he cast his ability? He had a mental stun lock. Most of the mobs were getting 1 shot
Brutality?
Another point to NEVER playing hardcore.
Get good
@@PearlBagel Sure thing, masochist.
reflect is the most skill dependent and interesting mechanic in poe I wish they would never delete this
Next time, Links tempest shield with brutality for reflect inmunity on reflect >D
Void manip
17k phys max hit with Immortal Call off
doesnt really mean anything. he dodges 95% of hits, and has 5k recharge/sec. basic enemies cant kill that as the recharge is too high compared to their effective hit rate due to 95% avoidance.
Its relevant vs like shaper slams and stuff but not for non-pinnicle contnet
Common misconception that you need insanely high phys max hit 🤡 Highest hitting phys hit is an uber shaper slam that hits for around 20k. Other than that there isn't a lot of phys that actually hits hard
Brutality Support, 140 mana multiplayer, anyone buys it?
Hey.. maybe its time to leave SC for a bit and just straight up join us in HC Trade next league?
Can GGG just delete reflect form the game, this is just shit game mechanics.
Get good
wow you talk so much..
You didn't take note of your current movement skill cooldown and just panicked when it didn't go off. People die that way all the time. The game likes to remind people they aren't invincible. Sometimes you die to a table, but most of the time you die to yourself.
Lance on aura stacker tempest shield kills most enemy's while AFKs to show how tanky character is wow that dose a lot of damage. Lance later die to tempest shield reflect damage 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘪𝘬𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘶 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦
