Did you know that Jay confirmed they purposely sped up the track for the contestants? The male model demonstrating were on a manageable speed.
Thats just horrible! Like, you can get hurt so easily. But I guess screw the models health, if its entertaining, let them break their legs!
This is so awful 😞
I felt there was something off

The conveyor belt runway would make sense if the collection was for sportswear, not dresses/gowns. It should also be slower.
actually i agree with this ! if they were wearing sneakers and sportswear then the concept would make a lot more sense and be a lot less dangerous
Yes! This is such a good point!
OMG that would be soo interesting! Cause you would be like testing the clothes on the runway, you know? It would make a lot of sense, it would still be a challenge. And if they were in sneakers they could actually speed it up ( just a little bit, not like what they did), like they would be "running"!
Not only is it a trip hazard but with long gowns somebody could
Get caught and that would
Be bad.
They're also walking against the runway. If you have ever used a walk way in a theme park they push you forward instead of pushing you back. It's like going up a down escalator. The speed on top of fighting the runway. They are twisted people on that show. Miss Jay, can you get your heels on and walk this thing if it's so easy.
There really needs to be a comeback season where Tyra does all of the challenges.
Omg yes!
All tne judges
Yes!!!
Don't forget the Jay's they deserve it too
Can we have this instead of her using dancing with the stars as her own midlife crisis runway and irritating all the boomers that have watched that show for 20 years?
Let’s be honest, everything Tyra did to these girls that she “claims” models do, don’t actually do. She herself has never done such things. There’s not one designer out there that would do this to their models. It would pull the attention away from the main focus, the clothes.
tbf dior put models on conveyer belts but they had to stand still and the band didn't go fast.
I feel the first two seasons at least were kind of inspired by Tira's personal experiences as a model, but it was obviously not enough to fill 18 or however more seasons they've done since
@NS I so true. I honestly think Tyra has a malicious and sociopathic streak. She gets joy from humiliating girls.
@@femkedevries7614 Exactly because no designer wants the focus to be on the models falling or getting hurt, they want it to be on their designs so even when they use unique runways it's not Jigsaw insanity. It's why I stopped watching as a kid as it's just cruel and weird.
@@SugarTiger54 true! The first two seasons are my favorite and the first three are about the only ones I think were serious about modeling. It was also important how Tyra actually spent time with the girls: she would talk with them one-on-one and as a group, giving them a space to share their concerns and ask for advice. She is a lot more distant in the later seasons and way less of a mentor; it is sad to think that she was not as invested in their journeys, especially as the challenges got further from reality.
I just can't believe that they said
'' Fashion is a risk ''
Fashion is about taking risks but that's absolutely not about taking health risks.
ikr! Fashion can be risky, even risque... but this is totally a different animal. It was like he just blew off her completely valid question. Also, would there not be several rehersal runs in situations like this? so conveyor speed could be adjusted and the women could get a decent feel for it before putting them in front of an audience? this seems like deliberate malfeasance on the part ANTM
Exactly like wtf ,they can't do fashion anymore if they break their neck & ankles and end up in hospital 🤦♀️. These challenges teach the models nothing, it's just crazy & dangerous for no reason.
instead of having models in sneakers do the example, they should’ve had tyra do it for the first time in heels and lets see how easy this runway is
Let's be honest... Tyra has probably done it before one time and she struggled, but you know what she did.. She got through it.. Because that's what models do..
Sarcasm
@@ertjiesb4158 Tyra did it in 17 inch heels, over shark infested waters, with snipers shooting at her. And she was fine, so no one is allowed to complain 🙄🙄

This is a great premise for a show. Get Tyra in there to perfectly demonstrate every stunt. I would love to see how she does.
Yeah but you know if Tyra did it they would have slowed it down for her.

The purpose of this is just pure humiliation lets be honest
It's about the views. I'm so disgusted I watched this show as a kid.
@@Negativespace95 y tho, the contestants are not mentally handicapped or anything.. I don’t mind watching people willingly participate in humiliating themselves
I just left a comment saying the same thing.
Fr, I only liked Africa’s next top model because the tips they were giving and everyone was SUPER NICE, and Asia’s Next Top Model because everything they were doing would help them in the future
Tyra is a sadist, imo
This is one of the few seasons I watched this show, and I remember how they used Anne to create drama, including exploiting her autism. How they portrayed her and set her up to be disliked and bullied by the other girls made me so mad.
I know they did that to another girl with autism in a much earlier season (I remember her name is Heather but I don't remember which season). She had trouble finishing a go-see because she had trouble figuring out how to navigate a city that she wasn't familiar with to get to each location. Tyra said, in a very clearly edited shot, that she was being eliminated because she couldn't communicate very well.
I really think that Anne was a "natural" high fashion model. She had the height, body type and the face that is both ethereal and awkward in the best way. She really did deserve to win her season and deserved a great modeling career. I felt bad for her because she was so young, naive and passive, being pitted against older, more aggressive personality types on the show.
Yes! Same with heather in season 9
This reminds me of Heather stomping around naked with that stupid angry face 😂😂😂
I didn’t think Anne was autistic. Are you thinking about Heather or am I forgetting something?
It blows my mind that Tyra speaks on her struggles within in the modeling industry then puts these girls through this kind of stuff
I think Tyra is sadistic. I can’t stand her
Hypocrisy the name. It only hurts when it happens with them... but when amateurs wanna be become a model, it's like "don't you wanna be a model? So. Put yourself to prove. Even if you break you ankles."
@@eduardasantiago03 Definitely Hypocritical too!
Right? As a model, she knows how bad it can be. She should be fighting to improve the industry standard and working conditions
Misery loves company. As a little girl I loved this show in ignorance. Now that I'm older and more mature, I wish it never existed 😪
Can we talk about how this perfectly represent women's issues in the workplace or is it just me? They doing the same thing but women in heels are expected to be as perfect a man in sneakers....
Also when they went down the side of the bldg they had em in heels
They also make it speed when is the girls turn but with the guys they slow down 🙄
Such a perfect analogy.
I'm sorry but what is the point of the male models there? Just to compare them to the girls and make it seem like the runway is "doable"?? And if they are modeling jeans half-naked, why did the girls have gowns and stilletos? But most importantly, why am I trying to make it make sense?
You are just right 🤷♀️
Somebody also said that Jay admitted they sped the belt up for the girls.
A visual metaphor for life? Women are handicapped by societal standards and prejudices, while being expected to hustle harder and juggle more?
@@giabarrone7422 That concept reminds me of my school "national day of silence" or whatever where LGBTQ people and allies would remain completely silent for the whole day to "represent the silence and oppression we go through".
In retrospect it was bullshit. It's not like bigots were participating so really it was just doubling down and purposefully joining in to our oppression.
If they wanted to make the statement you said, they should have done the reverse. Dressed the guys up in heels and long tailcoats and gave the girls work out wear.
We have to be so very cautious that what we are being sold is really what we are being given.
@@rosemali3022 My child, who is fluid (but uses she/her pronouns) participated in the National Day of Silence and actually got suspended for NOT talking her head off, for once. It made me furious at the school for being so hostile and phobic. It meant something to my child to show and be shown solidarity in the most peaceful way possible.
I love your megaphone AND your stop sign! You totally called out what will happen to Ann cuz she ended up winning this cycle. Watch this show enough times and you can tell who Tyra's favorite is.
Me if I was an audience member “who dafuq thought this was a good idea? The designer is cruel person and I won’t buy the clothes for that purpose”
Why were the guys there.. just shirtless. To further humiliate the girls that they can do it perfectly in sneakers and jeans, instead of heels and a dress..
Jeans 👖 and haute couture gowns in the same runway show... looks so cheap.
I was thinking the same thing. Like the styling wasn’t even comparable...literally causal for the men and met gala for the girls so dumb
And thay also allowed him to practise walking on the runway before the show
That man’s way to make fun of womanhood imo he always taking jabs at woman on the show and looking for ways to embarrass them.
they also sped up the track for the girls vs the guys, so yes, the guys were there only to humiliate the women
I would love to see Tyra do all these challenges she made these models do.
This would have been a cool concept for athletic wear. However, at a more reasonable speed and proper shoes.
Go back to your sewer!
@@ImSweatingWOO my sewer has WiFi now.
But imagine workout gear without that stupid little bridge in the middle and the models doing a light jog, then a strut/pose in the middle, and a wave as the second belt takes them back stage
no for real it would actually be really cool, but they'd be wearing the proper attire and it would actually make sense.
And modelling sneakers too
I had a shoot where the photographer and creative director were arguing with each other literally the whole time. All of the models were so uncomfortable and had no idea what to do. I think we ended up listening to the creative director until she got the shot she wanted then she would just let the photographer do whatever. But until the CD got the shot it was super confusing and uncomfortable 😂
I swear they’re just trying to find the prettiest, most submissive girl so their future employer can force them to do whatever they want and she won’t talk back. How awful. This is least female empowerment thing Tyra could have done.
Not to mention her many issues with black women.
They dont even become a model after its such a pointless show that bascially breaks these girls spirits.
@@Tinx92 I have heard countless contestants on this show say that finding work was WAY harder because they were on this show. No one in the industry took them seriously.
@@bonniehowell4259 yeah me to, I have seen alot of videos of past contestants on how horribly they were treated and it didnt result in any work for them.
@@Tinx92 Omg, that's so sad :( poor girls
I’ve been watching loads of your videos for months now. I grew up watching ANTM and it’s sad to think how immersed we were in the toxic culture of the 2000s to not see how problematic this show and its counterparts were. I’m so glad society is starting to change but it’s upsetting to think of the abuse some people experienced.
Asia’s next top model handles their models better, and judges are nicer too that gives legit and helpful tips in modeling (although i have to note that there are biases in the judgings on the show sometimes)
I might go check that show out...im not sure why they let the American one continue they have had several suicides after contestants left the show
Ohh really? maybe Jessica can react to one of their episodes to compare with American's next top model
@@shelbyc7285 I looked it up because I was also confused so far one model has committed suicide Kimberly Rydzewski. I’m unsure if her suicide was connected to something else in her life, her mother also had committed suicide when she was younger.

Yu Tsai say hi
it's also disgusting how they made some of the models wear long gowns, while the others are wearing tight fitting dresses. I don't know if they are targeting some of these models. Either way, the whole show is disgusting and evil. :(
What makes this additionally not fair is not only are the male models wearing sneakers, but they also had time to PRACTICE walking on the conveyor belts.
And in an interview Jay confirmed that the male models had a slower more manageable pace than the girls in their heels.
@@Suzied2016 that's so messed up. They just want to embarrass them. Gross.
Yes! Let's turn the tables - put the men in heels & let..
Lol
I LOVE how you always say what I'm thinking!! "The look of PURE FEAR!" LMAO
It’s funny how Tyra always says *”Who are you? We don’t see who you are.”* to the girls when Angelea Preston ( ANTM 14 & 17 contestant ) spilled the tea that Tyra only sees them during judging panel so she really won’t know who the models are lmfao
Every time Tyra says that I just want one of the models to say "I'm a badass and you're a bully" But if they would have just edited it out. It really annoys me when she says "Who are you?". Because when a model tries to show their personality they then got the whole "It's not right for you" Or "You need to get out of your shell" Aka conform & change your personality to be like Tyra
Tyra did photoshoots with the girls and went to their house a lot too. Panel wasn't the only time she saw the girls.
@@saossurvive yeah, but still that was only for camera. The point is Tyra didn't really got to actually know the girls and didn't care
@@saossurvive to be fair she was there to be their photographer especially when it comes down to the top 5 or top 4 it’s a tradition that she photographs the remaining girls but that’s pretty much it
@@ughgowonsscalpandcrunchyvo4926 yeah, I do see what you're saying but I just saw Tyra as their boss, nothing more (if that makes sense). The girls had multiple "guides" to look up to and work with, Mr. and Mrs Jay seemed to be the most present, even Nigel more so than Tyra because he did a good number of the photoshoots! Maybe she still could've been more present but I think she was lowkey too busy, just considering she was a retired model with other jobs. You could be right, I'm just speculating. Maybe I just don't wanna see the bad in her.
At the exact moment that Jessica said she hated that the audience was making fun of the girls, I was thinking about how messed up it is that there were people in that crowd who were straight up laughing as the girls were falling. That's so messed up, they could have been seriously hurt and these people were treating it as entertainment.
Even when Jay compliments the girls it's always gotta be in a passive aggressive manner "that was actually good," "that was better than I expected," eg

everyone knows that jumping on a moving conveyer belt is one of the most dangerous things you can do at the gym. Someone could have died.
In heels too. Just dumb
Having fallen off a treadmill at setting 3, I can confirm it is certainly dangerous and painful.
At the very least broken a bone. Then the model would have been eliminated because she didn't own the runway!!
I’ve always said that about half dangerous the challenges. Someone could’ve fell and cracked their skull opens
I need an ANTM reboot where you enter as a team- one model and one photographer. You compete against other teams but without all this messy drama. My favorite aspect of ANTM was always getting to see the process and then the final shot they were able to create. I don’t need the contestants pitted against each other and the over-the-top challenges. I just wanna see talented people creating things!
And it's kind evil and misogynistic how they treated the girls, because when they started introducing male models on the competition antm became surprisingly really "easy" to do, the cycles with male models were really chill about runway challenges if I remember correctly
They did runway from the top to bottom of the building in cycle 20. However it's the only weird runway

Mr Jay's title is 'Creative Director'? I could have sworn he was just 'Model Supervisor' aka 'Model Harrasser'. The guy actually finds it painful to give positive feedback. He's a bully. The whole show is created by bullies!
He described himself as 'creative genius' and wore a shirt with that word on it.
When he had to insult himself (because the models were forced to insult themselves and draw it on their bodies) he called himself 'band geek'.
This was actually self promotion cause 'band geek's implies that he was precocious and creatively talented as a teenager.
Yep he’s either bullying them or not giving any feedback at all. Both are very unhelpful to the models

@Jesse Leeward he's a disgusting narcissist. he just wrote the most trite book about a show called "model muse" hosted by a woman named "keisha kash" (???? stop giving book deals to people who come up with crap this dumb) and of course there's a main character who's an obvious stand in for him. when i read a little bit more about it i cringed so hard. every interview he's given in the wake of negative reactions to ANTM has been blaming other people, praising his own contributions, and saying nothing about the exploitation of these young women. and tyra is EVEN WORSE, an absolutely horrifying narcissist of the highest order. i hope to god someone meets them one day who has the nerve to tell them all of this to their face.

and not even marks or anything on it to see how fast it runs
I worked seasons 6/7. In all reality tv there is a department called “story”. They watch all the footage live feeds, and if they see any opportunities to create drama, they will ask leading questions in the interview/confessionals to provoke anger and drama where there is none. In addition, we did things to put the girls in a constant state of anxiety (took all phones to block communications with loved ones, 3 days of intense therapy to bring up emotions, requiring them all to wear heels at all times, keep their heads down in public, never go anywhere without an escort, must eat all the food we give them, then can’t use the toilet for 2 hours unless a crew member is in the bathroom with them, not allowed to speak unless a camera is on them, etc). More than once my job was suicide watch at night. I had to leave reality tv, cause I felt horrible about doing this to fragile girls for entertainment
I will say, these girls are WAAAAY skinnier than you think. I remember taking a group of 6 of them down an elevator for judging. I was 5’6”, 115lbs. I looked like a fat gnome surrounded by a bunch of towering sticks
And when Anne gets more confident they’re going to shoot her down and make her feel bad about herself. This show is wild with what it does to these beautiful models.
I have never in my life watched this program but I have been watching your videos on ANTM on and off since last night. You seem like a genuinely lovely person.

To be completely honest I do think Ann had the best portfolio overall. Every week she gave a different look and was very skilled. Also, on a side note, Lexie said in a recent interview with Oliver that the photographers of that shoot told her years after that they knew she was going home that week BEFORE the photoshoot happened.
That's why she got the worst styling lol

It's been rumored that the winner is picked long before the end of the show. The sponsor for the season chooses, and then they just run the show like any other reality TV program. Keeping weak competitors on because they bring in drama. And then keeping the "winner" in the running even if they have horrible photo shoots. Which causes some really bad shots to be praised, so that the winner can advance when they wouldn't if it were a fair competition.
@@zelamorre1126 I could believe that, I do believe that
@@zelamorre1126 I do think the sponsor has a weight in the final decition. As far as I know, on cycle 2 the sponsor gave the show a list of possible winners. Mercedes, being an all-time fan favorite, wasn't on that list so Yoanna ended up winning. That may be due to the mess that came with Adrianne's victory on the previous cycle. From there on, they probably wanted to make sure the winner was liked by the client so she won't get swept under the rug and could get work after. On this cycle Ann was liked by all the designers, photographers and creative directors she worked with, and you could tell André Leon Talley was really pushing for her. It makes sence to me at least.

The more I see, the more convinced I am that this show was all about punishing the women.
This just proof that the producers, creators and judges do not have a show anymore. If they don't be rediculous and endanger the safety of these young models they just have no show. They are the talentless ones. They are humiliating themselves NOT the models.
Jessica: OMG I LOVE HER POSE, she looks flawless, the shapes her body is creating are beautiful, she looks very pretty
THE JUDGES: YOU LOOK HORRIBLE YOU ARE OUT
You are so funny 😆 subscribed ! I love the way you comment on the videos its ex the kind of stuff I be thinking ur lit 🔥
The only way I’d find this challenge acceptable was if the conveyor belt was MUCH slower, the girls wore flat well fitted shoes, AND they got to practice beforehand.
I love her humor 🤩😂😂 you got a new sub
Can we take a moment to admire how gorgeous she looks today 😍
That jacket too 😍😍
@@Partycitybaex ikr!😍😍😍
YASS😍😍
Yeees
Stunning
Up until my late teens I was terrified of stepping onto the down escalator at the mall. I would have to hold the hand or arm of the person I was with to do it. This conveyor belt gives me the same vibes.
I'm pretty much sure that the audience did laught at the girls and made some funny faces. However, there is also a high possibility that the producers and editors could have taken those moments out of contexts. It happens in reality tv shows all the time... *cof cof* the x factor *cof cof* america's got tallent *cof cof*
It's something very common actually, let's say that a member of the audience laughs at something that the person next to them said. The editors can take that scene, make a close-up of the exact moment when they laughed and place it just after a scene when a model allmost felt off because of the conveyor belt. And boom!! They not only make the girls look bad, but also some members of the audience...
I just found your videos-and wtf what an eye opener. My Jay was ALWAYS like this when I remember wacthing the show. He and the other smarmy judges would bring down the entire damn mood of the models taking the pictures in the photoshoot! As a young teen , I thought this was how modelling was-but now watching this with fresh eyes? Such a**holes. All of them. I feel so bad for the girls. Imagine internalizing all of that on a TV show like this.
I hope all of them are doing OK now and grew out from this spectacle.
How have none of these girls done a class action lawsuit against ANTM ?? Must be one heck of a NDA they signed 👀👀
One thing I never understood about this show is if a model did just so so for weeks, she’d skate by and stay in the competition. Then, someone who did great for weeks on end would have a bad day at a photo shoot and not get best photos and she’d get sent home. That always bothered me.
The “challenges” on this show, at this point, have absolutely nothing to do with modeling. They’re simply there for entertainment purposes only, with no concern for the model’s safety. So dumb!
These are my favorite videos of you pls do more !! I can’t get enough
"Is Jigsaw gonna be credited as one of he producers for this episode?" LMAO I spat my drink out
Haha, after reading Jay's book, I actually look at this whole show differently 😂 It is still my guilty pleasure, and these videos are amazing, you are super funny and very insightful!
What does Jay’s book say
Antm idea: judges season where they make everyone who ever judged the show do everything they made the models do
Watching your channel is so therapeutic for me! Thank you!!
I seriously wanna look at the contract that these girls signed when entry this competition. Particularly the clause on injuries during the length of the competition.... Like WOW
I used to love this show! I was really young and believed it was 100 real. Started watching your channel... and I opened my eyes starting to realize how awful they treated this girls and how much of "bad management " there was.
Your soul is so pure Jessica... I have yet to find another UA-cam Channel that is dedicated to being kind to people 😫❤️
I haven’t laughed so hard at one of your videos before. Your commentary *chefs kiss*
Completely agree with the Ann situation! I think she took good pictures and like maybe a couple yes, I think they deserved the tittle of best of the week, but six times in a row??? Nah, nah, that was just to create drama in the house for suuuuuure.
“I just wanna see where Jigsaw and his tricycle is in all this” haha I’m dying 😂 love her references
