Hi Juan....I'm happy the yarn and the candies made it to your home! PS I had emailed you that I stuck a card in the packaging between the layers....I had taped the entire package and realized that I neglected to include the card and didn't want to remove all the tape. Hopefully you didn't throw the card away but if so, no problemo.
Absolutely love the idea of putting fabric on the back of your mom’s work so it just adds to it and won’t take anything away from ALL the work she put into them 💙💙💙💙
Someone gave me some yarn when I was a young girl that her mother had. Her mother had passed away. Included was a blanket her mom had started, but it was knitted, I only crocheted. When I looked closer, I realized the squares just needed to be sewn together. I finished it and gave it back to the woman. She was so happy it brought her to tears. You may want to hang on to your mom’s projects.
Hi Juan, loved the podcast! I was doing the hand signs and my husband (whom was born deaf) asked me why I was signing the colors and knitting and crocheting! We do not sign to each other as he reads lips and has excellent speech. He is 77 and as a child taught himself to speak. He would look in the mirror all day long learning the feel of the speech by putting his palm on his vocal cords. Back in the day there was no help for the deaf and his parents refused to put him in a "home" for the deaf. Well enough of that I just want to say THANK YOU! My husband knew what you were talking about!!!! Love to you and Wilma! Oh i would kill for the Picasso!! Limited funds for us seniors!!!
OMG! I am so totally flashing to a quilt my mother handed to me(cause I was the only one of her 5 children that showed a crafty interest). It was a seriously embroidered with hand done cross stitch. (That I was told was done by 3 generations of my family) I now question the true history of this story. I think this has become the guilt quilt! No one wanted to finish it, so it became embellished with "history" so that maybe someone would feel compelled to finish it! I have tried a couple of times...BUT, my daughter has taken up some quilting tasks!🤭
Hi Juan and friends!! Watched this pod earlier today with the grandbabies and now on the rewatch! We are obsessed with Mama's blankets! I would suggest a fur trim for your pocket shawl, it would be perfect and blend in any unevenness. Much love
Pocket shawl - perfect! Chair backer - perfect! The colors in it look lovely with the colorful yarn behind the chair! Not fix- touch up -perfect! Totally agree with your assessment. Your mom does beautiful work. She’s lovely and she has a great sense of humor. ❤️&✌️
Juan, I love your mother's blankets! The bright colors surrounded by the black accent is stunning. Please tell Wilma I think they're perfect. -- Oh, I have to tell you....your No Drama Llama is drama chaos here. My littlest fur baby has chosen him as his nemesis and carries on during the video until I quiet him. I don't know what has gotten into his little head! (honestly, it's kinda cute)
What a wonderful effort on the blanket your mom made. I would keep it forever as well. I love the special relationship you have with her. It warms my heart.❤
With your talent you will be able to finish your mom's beautiful work. Cherish her work. Love your relationship you have with your mom. Your ideas sound great to keep her work intact.
Those blankets your mom was making are beautiful! My grandmother and mom both had macular degeneration, so I understand what she's going through. My grandmother lived to 97, but she was almost completely blind at that point. I think the Boggy Blanket is an excellent idea, and making that longer one for the back of a chair is great too! I'd wear that last one as a scarf for sure!
I think you should join them all together. My Mum and her best friend knitted blanket strips. When my Mum died I inherited all her knitting. I ended up finishing it and gave it to her best friend💜
Hi juan, tell your mum her blankets are stunningly beautiful!, and she has done an awesome job!. I would try and repair them for her. Bless her. Love those!. All of that hard work. I was copying your sign language. Or should I say trying! Lol. Can you sew the parts in juan?. With same colour yarn. Fantastic job Juan's mum. ! Mandy uk 🇬🇧 xxx😊
The pieces that your Mom made are, beautiful If you make a cover with your chair the colors would accent all your colored yarn these blankets are something that you will treasure forever
I like the pocket shawl idea. But also think about lining it with fabric and maybe adding more to to add a back covering flap make it a ruana style. And please tell mom I love the look of all of them. And it's completely giving me ideas.
The last piece I would either fold it in half length wise and border the edges for a long scarf OR fold the ends up and edge everything around to make it into a pocket shawl for her. Love her work!!! And you♥️
Hey Juan! You’re such a natural teacher! I love how you want to preserve your mom’s work. I’d look at soft stuff for the blanket backing, like minky. But you do you. So fun watching you today WHILST having lunch. ❤❤❤
Don’t do too much to it. Cherish her work the way it is. They are beautiful. I have some quilt tops that my on made after she was bed ridden. Making your mom a shoulder wrap is a great ideal
For the spots that are coming apart, maybe put some fray-check on the loose/fraying spots when you've done whatever you're going to do to them. Have fun with all that black! 🤭 WOW, I can't imagine making all those itty-bitty squares bordered with black, and THEN joining them all with black... Hats off to Mom! 🐞
Juan, I would actually not change a single thing with the first blanket. It's the memories of what we make. How far we do come in our crafting journey. The rest of your ideas sound great.
You can get most of these yarns from the wool warehouse on line . I know Crystal at Bag O Day buys from them . I always have very good service . Our wool / yarn is probably slightly cheaper but with the exchange date $1.27 to the pound most yarns are around £4- £5
I used to work for the Michigan Relay Center (MRC) where I help facilitate calls for the deaf and hard of hearing. We had sign language interpreters to help us with the calls. Therefore we learned some sign language. On that job we did quite a bit of crocheting between calls and I don't think we ever learned the signs for our craft. So thank you for filling in my knowledge 😊😊😊
Pocket shawl is a great idea 👍 I would put cloth on back on the back of the throw like you said Mum did a fabulous job and it will be an heirloom to keep 💜
Momma Wilma does beautiful work! Such cherished pieces, i wouldnt change a thing with her work either. Your ideas are perfect in making sure the blankets will last forever
Your mom’s blankets are beautiful! I love the idea of only color on the first round and black on the rest. It really makes the colors stand out! Beautiful ❤️
Hi Juan ! I’m loving the sign language teaching so much. Ty !! Super cool yarn ! Omg !! Your mom’s blanket is absolutely gorgeous ❤❤. Super cool happy mail.
Your mom did beautiful work! A pocket shawl is a great idea if it's not too long. Could also be a table runner or a window vallance. Keep up the great work Juan! #replay
Beautiful yarns from your friend from England. Do you keep your wool yarns covered safe from moths and insects? I just finished a wool crossover bag and recently watched a few videos about insects getting into wool. I quickly put my wool purse in a zip lock bag that I sprayed with lavender which is a deterrent. Love your videos!
LoL, thanks for the giggles Juan. I had a full conversation with (myself?) lol when you showed us the British wool my minds eye quickly noted: ooooOooo, those sheep have biscuits with their tea. And a full colored image of sheep in sweaters made from the AMAZING colored yarn you showed sipping tea pinkies up, munching on coooookies (biscuits) heheehhe now... please excuse me, I must go find a cookie to crumble 💜 Thank you Juan for kick starting a fantastic day with me.
Oh Juan your moms projects are stunning! What kind of granny square is that? I am a fairly new crocheter and haven't tackled grannies yet. It is so pretty I want to try to do them! I love the idea of a fabric back and border. I think a quilted granny blanket would be cool. Also love the idea of a pocketed shawl for your momma. Much ❤❤❤!!! Trish
Hey there! Mom's blankets are amazing. I think that the Throw should have a matching purple fabric back. The shawl idea is awesome! If you wanted to put a back on the chair back one would be stunning with a matching orange fabric backing. ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Juan. Your Mom's blankets are beautiful. They are a keepsake for sure. I have one of my maternal grandmas dollies she made but did not fasten off and do not have the heart to finish it off. So I have kept it the way it is and will forever.
Pocket shawl good idea .do an envelope stitch on border. Envelope stitch border on all of the pieces . Add black material on those ones you need to. For the small ones they could be lap blankets for elderly or disabled (wheelchair users) winter lap blanket use a flannel material and for summer use cotton.
L💙VE the "Sign Language" Juan 💜💜💜! Love all of the Gorgeous Yarn's, the "Winter Plum" 💜, "Heather" 💜, "Agua Mist" 💙💦, "Botanical Bloom" 🤎💜❤, "Calm" 💜, "Frosted Pine" 🎄 & the "Stormy Skies" 🤍🌚⛈🌀. All of Them look Delicious to me 🤩🤩🤩! Your Precious Mom's Blanket is Absolutely Gorgeous & Priceless 🛌💙💙💙! Definitely save the Smaller ones also. Thanks so much for sharing 😊💖! Oh & Thanks for the information on the " Fruit Punch" 💖! I found a whole Skein already caked up in a bag with a Ball of Turqoise & a Ball of a Red that matches. I couldn't find the Yarn Band & I could not remember the name. I fell into a week long coma on January 2nd 2023 & I've had to learn everything over again & my memory is coming back more everyday 🙏✝️❤.

Ha ha! This is for the house, not a magazine. 😂 Your Mom is awesome!!! Your Moms tub is full of treasures! ❤
Hi Juan for the long piece that your mum did .I think if you border it well would make a nice bed runner

Makes the last one into a pillow
I would frame the granny scarf. Make great wall art . 😊❤
(It would need to be folded)
Hi Juan wow your mom's work is astonishing such a lovely thing to have..you have inherited her gift.many blessings 💖

The scarf could be a table runner. Love how your mom did the items. 😊
The long narrow piece could be used along the back of a couch. They are so bright and will brighten up any room.
Also you might want to wash them to see how they hold up.
Thank you Juan I love all the things… hehehe
These are absolutely beautiful ❤❤ the last one would make a gorgeous bed runner.
Some can be adult boggy blankets. They will accept them. A thought,
How about making pillow out of one to match the blanket.
You're a natural teacher 😊 I'm loving the signs
Hi. I say Hello from switzerland 🇨🇭have you cleand up? I Looks so Good …. Tanks for all the things❤
42:11 Every parent needs a proud child, no matter how old or young the child is.
The long on you could put pockets on it and make it a pocket shawl. Love it❤❤❤❤
I cracked up with the yarn sign. Like we are making puppet signs
Pocketed shawl its a good one …go for it and surprise her when done …shell love it for sure.
Yes food is fire in the belly and fuel for the brain. Pretty yarn and happy mail is always a sweet surprise to see.
Love the blankets mom made. People are saying heirlooms and yes they are. Very beautiful and special

A chair backer for your studio!!! It matches your yarn scape. Would be awesome.
Hi Juan, mom’s blankets are beautiful….a fleece backing would be lovely and warm. You could do the same for the big one.
I think you should join them all together. My Mum and her best friend knitted blanket strips. When my Mum died I inherited all her knitting. I ended up finishing it and gave it to her best friend💜
Good Evening Juan. I LOVE your idea to back the blanket and donate. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Her shawl with pockets should be called WILMAS ENTOURAGE ❤
Momma Wilma's blankets are beautiful...priceless !!
Your mom's afghans are beautiful. A pocket Shawl would be very nice, I have made several myself.
You can get most of these yarns from the wool warehouse on line . I know Crystal at Bag O Day buys from them . I always have very good service . Our wool / yarn is probably slightly cheaper but with the exchange date $1.27 to the pound most yarns are around £4- £5

I absolutely love your mom's huge blanket. ❤️ All those squares ❤ Such talent.
Yes a pocket scarf would be great. Or it could also be a bed runner for the foot of the bed. I agree with all the rest of your ideas.

The shawl would be nice for your mom. She would be happy her hard work is being used. Also could you use fabric glue to anchor the cut ends ?
Oh Juan your moms projects are stunning! What kind of granny square is that? I am a fairly new crocheter and haven't tackled grannies yet. It is so pretty I want to try to do them!
