Newport Illuminated Carnival 2023 - With tribute to June Winchcombe - Isle of Wight Carnivals

Newport Carnival Isle of Wight held its annual celebration with its Illuminated Procession taking place on Thursday 24th August 2023 at 9pm.
They were unfortunate that they had to cancel their Main Procession in July, which is usually the first carnival of the season, due to high winds and rain.
Granny Tourismo was scheduled to perform, however, played at Jay Miller Circus instead.
Newport Carnival lost their chairman of over 20 years at the start of the year, meaning 2023 was going to be a different one for the team.
Paddy McHugh, who took on the role of chairman of Newport Carnival organised a tribute with Medina Marching Band, Vectis Corp of Drums and Isle of Wight Highland Pipes and Drums playing Highland Cathedral just before the carnival set off - which can be watched at the end of the video.
