One time at a competition with 99% mostly white bands, a mostly black band performed and they were not only the best vibe musically but their color guard/dancers were INSANE. Couldn't stop watching

I love how the black bands include a lot of people but sometimes they are over the top and show more dancing than showing the band. I think it takes away from the actual people playing the music.
Years ago I was in St Louis and I saw a Battle of the Bands going on. It was amazing. I’d never seen/heard anything like it. I stood there for hours watching it.
Oh the memories. I was in the marching band, both of my brothers, my nieces, my son, and now my great nephew and niece. We can say we are truly a Marching Band Family, all the way through college.

Yes! My HS was the same, but there were HS in other districts that we’d face in football games that were majority black and their bands were infinitely more energetic and entertaining. And the dancers are TALENTED!
As a former band kid with a white band, I can't tell you how excited we get to see these kids in the black band groups doing their thing. We know how hard it is to be coordinated enough to do what we're doing so to see people taking it up 10 notches and killing it is freaking awesome. Really inspirational and so much work.

I'm half Asian/White, played trumpet, and ended up going to a predominately Black school. The marching band I was in was HBCU-inspired, and it was probably one of the most fun times I've ever had in my life. The music, the dancing, breakdowns, the training... everything about it... high school was so much fun because of it!

This is so accurate. As a black kid in a predominantly white marching band, I used to so look forward when we played the football team of a black marching band. We were playing “cheeseburger in paradise” meanwhile they were doing “Thriller” and splits at the 50 yard line🎉 Also our band was banned from playing the very song in this clip (black marching band part) because it got us too hype

As someone who goes to a majority white school who just played a game against a majority black school, this is true. We collectively lost our shit when the whole band started twerking while playing. Honestly super impressive, and their dance moves were amazing, just had never seen that before.
