I'm a fairly big man and not many things scare me.
But the thought of placing myself in this situation with my dog and hunting cabin puts me on edge.
That was genuinely creepy. Not many creepypastas spook me that well.

Mimic's are from older story's back in mid evil time and they could copy just about anything almost perfectly. they are mostly used in games to pretend to be treasure Chests. they could be skin walkers too. i just would think how the skin stretched it would more likely be a Mimic, mostly cus it could even copy the sounds he made.
I do. But then, that's my problem, too much curiosity.
A lot of the mystery behind what it actually was makes this story even more creepy. It's the unknown that humans dread the most.

Holy hell, this was one of the creepiest I've heard in ages.
I've heard a story very similar to this one before. Instead of a hunter and his dog, it was about a sort of foster dog owner. They'd take care of a dog until it was purchased or something. The dog may very well have been named Sandy as well. The dog is made to go outside for a bit and returns acting...strange. Unlike this story, however, the dog begins making attempts on her life, including pushing her into the path of an oncoming car and making her trip and fall face first onto the burning stove top.
She gets the dog taken away...then some days later finds the skinned remains of a dog in her backyard, carefully hidden behind some bushes.

I think they refer to that name since skin walker is too related to the native american skinwalker.
Tbh, I've never actually heard of a fleshgait but I'm reading about them now and they're pretty freaky. I was convinced this might've been a wendigo but it does sound a lot like a fleshgait.

This story really got to me just because how similar it sounded to what I have actually experienced. I live in a dense forest, my house is quite isolated. I also had a maremma sheepdog, who really enjoyed the nature and loved to explore the woods. One night, he kept whining so I let him out just in case he had to pee or whatever. He never came back home the next day and in the following week I must've seen him 2-3 times, but always at a distance. I kept calling him every time, but he never came to me and ran away when I tried to get closer. I had this heartbreaking but also very odd feeling as if he wasn't the dog I knew anymore. Some people said they had seen my dog one, two, even three months after this incident, but again, he kept his distance. After that he just disappeared.
That is genuinely both creepy and heartbreaking
I know i'm late asf, but its like your dog is telling you to stay away from him as far as possible. He found *Something* he wasn't supposed to see, and is trying to prevent you from going the same fate as him.
But still, i'm so sorry that you have to go through this. Hope you're doing well

The fact that it was trying to mimic the person writing in the end is the most unsettling, you know it was planning to wear him next.

Hearing that voice made me remember a nightmare I had once. I heard a voice, almost as deep as the voice in the video, just as demonic. It said something like, "Once there was a little girl, and I made her die a horrific death."

I'm always amused by the fact that all the protagonists in these stories can fall right to sleep while all these creepy and horrifying things are happening. Like "oh my dog is longer than he was yesterday...good night."

This is my all time favorite Creepypasta, and by far the best narration of it. The entire thing is so unsettling; from the description of the bizarre way that "Sandy" moves when he comes back to the distorted whistling just makes me uneasy.

This one was really great. Very creepy, and me being a dog-person made this hit home a bit extra. I love when stories keep things ambigous, like what the thing is, and it's motivations. Deep into the uncanny valley.

I used to have a dream like that when I was a little kid. A cat slowly stretching, it's smile growing unnaturally large, until it becomes flattened to 2D, gets wheels under its paws and the smile becomes an angry frown... It's just weird thinking back on it now, but as a kid it was terrifying. There's something about unnatural proportions that's really unsettling.

It's not looking for the dog. It's parroting the narrator's speech. It goal was to mimic the narrator.
If it's a skinwalker, it needs the skin in order to shapeshift. By the corpses the narrator found, it's a skinwalker.

the ending was TERRIFYING!! So let me get this straight. Sandy goes into the woods for THREE FLIPPPING DAYS, a skinwalker takes control of him, and in the end it turns out that it followed him HOME?!?! AW HECK NO!!! I am SO glad I'm not a dog person!

Oh. It was a Skinwalker. The whole thing didn't click into my head until the imitation whistles kicked in. The part that threw me off was the Canadian location. These stories are usually reserved for the Navajo Tribes (Southwestern United States).
There is only a handful of stories here on UA-cam that really, really scare me..that leave me with that uneasy feeling well into the night, and sometimes for days, after hearing...this is one of them! I definitely would put it into the top 5 if all time scariest stories on here!!
