It is very confusing to play against Steve if he utilizes his cancels ducks and shit well. But guess what? I learned the match up by playing him. The only one who restricts your learning is you and you alone (well, time is also a factor here but anyway)
If your main character has a punch parry like feng, heihachi or jin aggressive steve players tend to calm down real quick. Otherwise sadly you gotta deal with his pressure until you fully learn the matchup.
As a Steve main, distance and parry's calm him down. Just go to punishment training and get some practice and guess what type of Steve player you go against. Most go for a shit ton of highs so you can duck majority of the time. The smart ones that cancel df2 into duck block is who to fight at a mid range . Infinite stages also aren't his friends
i mean at this point jdcr can write a book with 200 pages about what you should in every single situation against each character

5. Use strings to hide throws if you're going for them.
6. "Quiet" when enemy is good.
