Many old cars have catched fire in the enginebay due to the A/C pump not working correctly. Cars with A/C had more fire in the enginebay then a car with no A/C pump attached according to old statistics. That was because the A/C stopped working and the owners wasn't paying attention of that. So even if the A/C pump takes a few horspowers away, it wasn't why they took away the A/C pump and yes, fixing a A/C pump back in the days that was broken almost costed as much as the entire car, so that was another reason they took it away plus that they could overheat when they didn't work correctly.
One would think one might wanna clean the car inside and out before the for-sale vid. Perhaps provide factory correct floor mats, not a big investment. Matching numbers would make this car worth some money but there’s a story behind this car and it’s not a positive one. Really a shame because a proper SE in this condition would be a keeper.
Lmao no most people don't agree the 403 had more power, the 400 W72 in 1979 was rated at 220hp by the factory the 403 was factory rated at 185 hp , NHRA dyno tested the 400 and found it to have 260-280 hp.

Those came in two versions one with the 403 olds engine or pontiac 400. Most people agree the olds engine one had more power.

Yeah but the 403 ran better no matter how it was rated. Thats from many people i know that have owned both. @@tomcherry7029
