the example given is indicative of why the military currently has very high attrition and very low recruitment… yeah maybe “roger” or “i sir” will appease the toxic person with “rank” occasionally… but those who know, know… its those people that have put America’s military in the dangerous rut its in; but rather than fixing toxic leadership and teaching effective communication on all levels, the culture is to pacify or avoid to “save your career”. i guarantee if those with actual authority figured out how to wisely spend tax dollars in bootcamp, MOS schools and leadership training on the front end, much less would go out thru the VA on the back end… sad to see 20 plus years later military culture hasn’t changed…

Roger that.
If what you’re being asked to do is illegal, unethical or immoral then you don’t need to answer affirmatively. If you’re a deadbeat like this SSG who needs to meet his financial obligations, he better say yes Sergeant and quickly do as he’s told.
Yes and no. The amount of stupid fucks vs solid leaders is 50/50. Ill fight people over dumb shit. Whats the point in rolling over backwards for people who are wrong. Have some honor.
You’re right
the example given is indicative of why the military currently has very high attrition and very low recruitment… yeah maybe “roger” or “i sir” will appease the toxic person with “rank” occasionally… but those who know, know… its those people that have put America’s military in the dangerous rut its in; but rather than fixing toxic leadership and teaching effective communication on all levels, the culture is to pacify or avoid to “save your career”. i guarantee if those with actual authority figured out how to wisely spend tax dollars in bootcamp, MOS schools and leadership training on the front end, much less would go out thru the VA on the back end… sad to see 20 plus years later military culture hasn’t changed…
You’re right but when you really care, sometimes you have to endure the toxic leadership by saying “Roger” in order to get in position to fight for change.
@@souljatalkthepodcast8373 SEMPER FI my brother; algorithm sent me your video top of list when i open YT today, so that mean you grinding… so definitely gonna subscribe… and I for sure recognize your position as so many of the of them old heads when i was in would often pitch that to me and others; especially if you make staff grade… but me and so many good NCO’s left the Corps back in the day because grown people didn’t know how to talk to other grown people… and often times that ish would border on abuse and be pure disrespect and even the “R” word, lol… fortunately i became really good at my job; so when i’d occasionally forget that “rank” and respond to ish often put in front of me, there was always an antenna farm or field training to send me to… its enough dealing with the PTSD curtesy of OEF/OIF, and now Im back state side and “fully grown”… your day 2 juiced up butter bar LT or jar head GUNNEY straight off the drill field wanna be motto and/or be slippery at the mouth… man nawl… that eas is when you say??? lol.. i out… so many, self included, tell this same story… change definitely need to happen
so in short be a yes man?
Not at all
bro we got the same last name
No don’t just say “Roger” just saying tiger is how we ended up in the position we are in the first place and the army in particular is essentially in a living dead state with how toxic the leadership is and no one wanting to join. If your command is ordering you to do something against your morals no don’t “just say roger”
This why we end up with so many 'yes men' in leadership positions as you move up the ranks. It's the only way to keep progressing. I can't blame em for doing it, but it's sad to see.
I understand what you’re saying but its a time and place for everything
Fax!
Roger
As a NCO, working in the motor pool and an Officer stopped me for some unless advice or whatever he wanted, I'd stand at attention and scream "Thank you for conditioning my mind and body, Sir! Feel free to do so at any time, Sir!" That keeps them at bay. Either that or hand them a $20 and tell them to go get some doughnuts while the men work. and make shooing motions with your hands.
Don’t develop your leaders, great advice. Don’t know your leadership, but him coming down to the motor pool to help out or ask for advice isn’t a bad thing.
Keep making the military a better place! 🫡
@@rusty9428 Officers have a function and it is not vehicle maintenance. If an Officer's tank gets knocked out in battle, he moves to another tank. His job responsibilities are different then mine. Stay in your lane.
Josephhenry-15e, your crossed up. That officer better be in the motor pool learning about his vehicle and getting to know his men. Then there is the war aspect. Don't get the dynamic confused. Stay YOUR lane. Tanker, 1SG, 4x combat vet.
@@thomasdailey4580 Tanker or 1SG? Didn't know you could be both. Never met a 1SG on a tank. did things change that much in the last 20 years?
@JosephHenry-l5e tanker- 19E/19K (M60A3/M1A1SEPv2 - MOS(job) as a SFC I was in position as 1sg (3×). stop saying Roger to the chow hall what's the army standards these days
Not gonna lie it’s been working but took me 4 years to actually do it 🤣

Keep your mouth shut and do what you are told. You will never have a problem in the Services-----------Ex Military
The dumbest statement ever.
True.
@@gazagovana3291 Are you currently in? Doubt it. 10th year in from SPC to now CPT using the OP's advice. So simple, yet people complicate life.
Unless it’s illegal, yeah. You can’t obey ALL orders from your superiors, but you can obey most.
This video is why nobody is joining and no one is staying in, piss poor leadership.
Are you talking about me or the leadership Im referring to?
But sarge..
Or just gtfo the Army and get a higher paying job as a Contractor or GS.
Might want to experience some of your own advice by putting your words into action.
For example, fix your uniform. Get a regulation haircut (none of that kitchen bowl supersink 30 late to formation s***t).
Line up that stach.
Good riddance and you're an E6?
a lot of troops forget the term "service before self"
