I second that
Shoulder work is so underrated. However, I sometimes feel like the monitor would be too close to my face, I'd have to go cross-eyed to look at it, so I invested in very sturdy Wooden Camera Ultra Arms.

News Photog here, the bean bag is a great idea for shooting over the shoulder while wanting to Zoom. 9 times outta 10 over the shoulder shots work best by staying wide and your body acting like the tripod. great tips!

This is a fantastic video, Joel! I've never run a shoulder rig so I probably would have easy rigged it or gimbled it. Anytime I use the easy rig I def get more attention than I'd like but I do feel comfortable with it. Very interested in the Pico mics though, I use the G4's now, but that system you have looks a lot more seamless. I've avoided the rode and dji for teh exact reason you state, they look awkward on talent/interviewees. Good stuff man!

Totally agreed on strapped beanbag/cinesaddle vs ezyrig. Don't get me wrong, the ezyrig is a great tool but it feels so restrictive. It's hard to explain 😅

So this gig was through a production company. I didn't do any of the pre or post. I charged a day rate with camera kit. It ranged between $850-$1250
