CTG= cartridge . 45 colt started as a blackpowder which is bulkier than smokeless. The S&W 25-5 is really meant for standard black powder levels. It can handle slightly higher pressure but not like a Ruger. The weak point in the S&W is the lock work. The 25s cylinder is strong but the fine lock work can’t take it. Even older 44 S&W magnums were know to shoot loose very quickly with a steady diet of heavy loads. I’ve owned several 25s for years. Feed them right and they will last several life times. Besides not much is going to take a 255gr bullet at 900 fps and be feeling too spry. Love the old N frame smiths . Just have to treat them right.
