- Опубліковано 8 вер 2024
- The shifting tides are causing concerns, so Greg and Amós go on one last fishing adventure, before making the BIG move to a NEW location. Greg makes a bow-drill fire starter and tests out his bushcraft fish catcher set line trap in the ocean, seeing if he can catch and cook salmon or lingcod before they depart. Amós continues his own bushcraft projects when he's not going after more food.

Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Hey Greg I’m a 20 year old bushcrafter and have been watching you for years just thought I’d share how happy you’re videos make me and they’re always giving me new ideas thank you for the adventures you go on
I appreciate that!
Idk about anyone else but who else can just watch these survival videos all day long😅😂❤️
It's true! I've watched for hours & days now! 😀
I watch this over streaming and movies man😂
The bottle says " Chengtai Soy Sauce" its not a water bottle, the back of the bottle is the ingredients of the soy sauce. its cool that you found that
Thanks for the info
Thanks for telling us!
Sure be neat if Finn had a backpack to at Least carry his own dog food.!! Thanks for the video y'all. Godbless
Ya man. Ovens needs one of those military dog vests and put a few pockets on it. It will also provide protection for fin.
We agree!
@@OvensRockyMountainBushcraft hey man. How do I go about having the opportunity to go on a trip with you and learn from a master???
They are pretty cool but boy do they get snagged on basically everything. They do get the hang of avoiding the snagging but still.
The way he runs around tho might end up injured. May not hurt to let him get the puppy out first haha
I love Fin dragging around small logs. Hahaha 👍😎
you work very hard Greg... please know that we appreciated it!
Amós is a real trooper and friend, boys. Loving this "challenge". It seems like heaven is in the Pacific North West for now. Maybe I will make it there someday.
oh my goodness please go! I havent been quite as far north as they are, but not too far away and no matter if you are along the Canadian coast or the northern part of the American coast...it is stunning!
@@marbler2442 I live in Maine! lol It is beautiful here. Although we are digging out today from our first snowstorm. The northern coast of the state is the best.
@@hubrisnaut I have been to the maritimes but not yet to the north eastern coast of the US...Maine is on my list. I seem to prefer the more dramatic coastlines instead of the flatter S and SE areas.
Ugh, yes it is that time of year, we have had a few cold snaps but less than a foot of snow that has stuck around. Good luck shovelling and stay warm!
@@marbler2442 I worked on the ocean, along the northern coast of Maine as an urchining and scalloing dive boat operator in winter. Even the old salts would marvel at the beauty. Imagine seasmoke dancing in the harbor around us, so cold the sea water would sparkle with crystals and the shore ice hued blue. Sometimes, the fog was as if God laid a blanket of cotton a hundred feet thick over the rocky islands marked by the tips of their fir trees or an occasional lighthouse poking above an impenetrable pure white bank, glowing in the morning sunlight. I love my home. My family is from "Downeast" Maine. Where are you?
@@hubrisnaut oh no, I say that jokingly since I just finished watching a couple videos of lobstering in the grey zone. I never realized the situation but seems to me those two fisheries need to sit down and work out some sort of agreement for that area.
I am from Alberta and much like you I have a very strong admiration/adoration for my home. Its not a rugged coastline and yet he foothills and rocky mountains make for some amazing views that constantly seem to change. As you look to the water to see the mood for the day, I look to the mountains. Some days are blue skies and smooth sailing and the next can be moody and violent, all beautiful.
Your description is amazing...not sure when or why I developed such a strong bond for the coast but I know what you have seen has something to do with it. The ocean life is fascinating and the food in coastal towns is delicious!
Suggestion: are you trying different retrieves when you reel in your lure ???
Somedays fishes would prefer a different looking lure than others…
Sometimes, changing the speed of the lure will show what kind of “mood” the fishes are!!!!
Good luck and thank you for the adventures.
I have also noticed that he tends to cast in the same place, over and over.
I would love to fish with you and/or Amos, alas I am not very physically capable. Thank you for taking me with you guys with camera! I look forward to your videos so much! Be safe out there and keep on adventuring!
I remember those days, and my back still remembers those days
you might consider a good heavy plastic tarp. added to your gear. Some dry room.under a tarp too.
Shout out to Fowler studios for having these back to back dude
You gotta get Finn a GoPro! I feel like I could watch hours of him running around the bush finding sticks and whatever.
awesome idea , see what he gets up to on his side of the story 😂
I can Imagine it now...
Premiering 2023!
Amos, Greg and Fowler 30 Day Survival Challenge: Labrador, Canada.
I think Amos and Fowler with their shared interests would get on like a house on fire and make for the perfect duo to accompany Greg to take on Labrador.
Just 3 Canoes and a wealth of expertise and knowledge...
A man can dream ay.....
Fowler cant go to canada anymore…
@@user-ln8ko7df7p lol is this for real? How come?
Greg, you aren’t getting nearly far out enough with that cast!
Greg has the jankiest cast ever lol
No offense by any means, but you hold your own for being an older guy Greg. Hats off to you man. Loving the series.
"Years Ago", I spent some time on the Red Sea: just like here, a big red sun dropped 'like an Alka-seltzer tablet into the sea. This shot brought back memories!
Finn and his sticks is literally my favorite part throughout this series. Such a good boy
Makes me nostalgic for Vancouver Island. Spent a few years there as a young boy. Was a paradise for a kid coming from the big city.
Fish head soup, as good as chicken broth for keeping away the chills ... Van Is is old stomping ground, especially in chantrelle season. 💖
💖🙏💫
The design of the bottle isn't that of a standard water bottle and the stain on the bottle's label is brownish so it's probably soy sauce bottle that carried cooking oil given the remaining yellow liquid inside.
Finn looking at that beach of driftwood must be like humans looking at the pyramids - "How did those sticks get there (who fetched them ?) Must be some sort of ancient lost dog technology, maybe they were giants....."
Lol
I looked at all the episodes of this adventure so far and i swear Greg is saying A-mouse. No Disrespect. Amos is a great fisherman. Been watching his side of the adventure as well.
Greg u need to be careful ur slipping n sliding all ova.another gr888 show!..👊🏿🇯🇲big up both of you!!
I think I might have tried to figure out a way to bring the radishes along. Maybe wrap them in a tarp or put in the pots to transplant at the new spot?
Quite the adventure so far. Not measured by the food caught but just by being in nature and the occasional herb tea. Finn gets to practice the occasional food opportunity as he wolfs down his ill-gotten gains. All in all quite the adventure as Finn grins from ear to ear.
Another nice part of the series , well no one caught a fish but hey you had some left from before and have a fire . Re Finn I think he may have a tapeworm, Happy to hear that you two are moving camp maybe have better luck, You do what you must to survive for sure. Amose is very talented with his woodworking skills that bowl shall be nice to have and what a great way to pass the time . love your fish set line and cool to be seeing you make another bow drill . doogie backpack would be awesome for Finn I feel, often thought of getting one for my dog. really enjoying this cant wait to see the next camp.
Excited to see how yhe radishes turn out! A follow up video would be neat
Greg makes me laugh in a good way..spills coffee everywhere but didn't spill a drop when he was grabbing that fish head soup lol..
Who is with me???? AMOS FOR CANADA!!!!
This is starting to feel like when I fish with my dad. We use the same things but he has a touch! The best most memorable fish of my life came on days when I fished for many hours before the strike.
Hi Greg! Actually, the bottle is in Chinese and I believe it says it’s from Taiwan. The label isn’t written in Japanese and I would guess it came from Taiwan.
Correct, this brand is my choice from the convenience store here in Taiwan.. That bottle has gone a long way. I am like Gregg and cannot abide people dropping or leaving rubbish.
Hahaha! Sore, that is getting older! Welcome to world of getting up there in age friend, sometimes it just plain sucks! lol I often wonder, how did I wake up and become 58, man when did that happen? lol Well, I am here, so guess I gotta make the best of it. It wasn't easy but as long as I still get out there in whatever capacity I can handle, that is the main thing! Keep going guys and have fun doing it! You both rock! Thanks for sharing! :) :)
To truly live this nomadic life a mule would be an asset! 😅
Amos has a nice flow with his casts
Nice way to let Greg know he might want to learn to cast more efficiently if he wants to have a better chance of catching fish, especially in the ocean. Nothing wrong with trying new things.
Loving this series! You and Amos are great together! I always chuckle when you try to point out its not just you that's sore. We all slow down a little bit over time but the more active you are keeps the motor going.
I really appreciate you guys taking the time out to give us these wonderful videos I love them all especially when Amos catches all these big fishes,Greg you will get one or two eventually..
Why don't you make a landing net so you don't miss any fish on the rocks. Also that beach to the left of the rocks looks calm and good fishing. ❤️💛💚👍
Finn wants to play FETCH! He needs a lot of attention. Giving him a role in the video will give it a greater content. We love the Dog.
Greg, do us a favor and make this trip longer, I love watching this before sleeping 😅
The plastic bottle that Greg found was an old bottle of soy sauce made in Taiwan. Keep up the great adventures Greg & Amos. From a fan living in Tokyo,
Quality show men 💪 you are made of stern stuff.. keep up the great content 🇮🇪 🇨🇦
Warm hug from Indonesia Greg and Amos ..
Greg, great to see you showing some of your bushcraft skills, really enjoy those.
Maybe, just maybe Flynn circled back and helped himself to some smoked salmon. Smart dog. Check for fish between his teeth next time. lol
Thanks for your time
Greg use the bait that is all around you mate you got huge mussel beds there and probably crabs in them rocks you have got both great food and bait at your doorstep thats wat i would be doing just a suggestion mate ....mussels are a great source of protein mmmmm mussel and crab and fish head soup ...
When you guys were moving the first thing that popped in my mind was, what about the radish that was planted?
I love when you test areas where u go for gold. U should make it a to do every place u go.
I need to train my dog to get fire wood as well! That would save so much time ha!!
Hey Greg, hi from Manitoba. Regarding that plastic bottle (13:05), I'm native to the Japanese language, so I can tell the language on the label is actually in Taiwanese Mandarin (one of the dialects of Chinese), not Japanese. You can see "產地 台灣" in the middle of the label, and it means "Made in Taiwan" (both languages share thousands of Chinese characters, and that's how I can read it). Anyways, big kudos to Beach Cleaners and you for caring for that beautiful ocean!!
Thanks for sharing the knowledge on a nother great bushcraft video brotha appreciate it...
U to really make a awesome team and Amos smile is amazing xoxoxox much love always Greg and amos
I loved it when Finley looked right at you after he bumped your teeth to see if you were okay... dogs are such innocent souls, cheers yall!
You guys should do some night fishing!
Amazing videos you both are super strong
Finn is looking really skinny hopefully Greg has been able to get him to the Vet and it was just a case of the worms, poor boy is still full of energy even though he's looking a bit rough. A bit of extra food probably won't hurt him a bit right now 💜
Remember when he ate the whole box of butter from camp!
he said he’d get him checked as soon as the trips over if he still looks skinny
@@ugsskywatchermckenzie4319 Right, that's why I said Hopefully Greg has been able to get him in. This isn't shown in real time, not a live stream, it was prerecorded.
I feel like your rod, setup and technique are better suited for lake fishing rather than coastal fishing. Maybe watch Angler up with Brant. Love the content. Thanks
I am concerned that Fin is okay. Still, I love your content. Still worried about Fin. Take care guys. Cheers Deano.
Finn really learned how to bring the firewood Amos taught him well lol.
Nice enjoyable episode, Finn is a cool dog! And Greg, you give away your age with the Gumby and Pokey! I loved them. I hope we get to see Amos bowl when it's done!
“Good boy. Go get another one!” 😂😂
Awesome content mate, big thanks from down under!! Love your videos, always help me drift off to sleep thinking of adventure. Keep it up please, you’ve taught me so much for my own adventures! :)
One of the most outstanding series on UA-cam! You two are inspirational.
The majority of all the fishes i´ve caught in my life have been baited with blue mussles. The fishes just love that.
it’s crazy how entertaining gregg is by just talking lol
You should do a follow up then leave the set line by the patch to see how the weather will hurt the set line trap no hood obviously
Right on, Greg and Amos👍Awesome adventure! Much love from Nevada 🤗
Great content mate! Amos told me the best words ive ever heard before in respect to a fire. " Cave Man TV "
Awesome Amos! Luv ya Fin
Crushing on Greg & Finn 🐾💜😁
Another great episode Greg. Can't wait for your fish trap to catch some fish.
Yup, fishing is about dedication
Dont those hammocks fold up very small? Greg lugging his in giant trash bag!😂😂😂
28:56 Amos giving Finn a lecture 🤣🤣
Greg, the birds will probably dig up your radish plants anyway, if not, some squirrels or raccoons will have a nice radish dinner, lol
People grow radishes just fine.
Risking a storm surge on the west side is nothing to mess with. I highly advise setting camp upland and taking a short hike to the shore. Plus, you're more protected from the wind and rain. Kinda figured you'd move camp even though you don't get the view.
I think Fin will like carrying his own pack and it may mature him along some. He's going to turn into a fine bush dog soon I bet.
Love the series and the weekly episode thanks Greg and Amos for making great videos!
Thanks Greg
Nothing as soothing as a crackling camp fire . . . 😊😊😊
Greg.
When you were setting up your fish trap. 05:50. You were slipping about a bit. With your knife in your hand. ALWAYS remember to put your knife away when done with it. Also, your natural instinct when slipping or falling is to put your hands out to break your fall, even if you have a knife in your hand. IF/WHEN you fall holding a knife, you must be extremely mindful and point the knife AWAY from you.
Sorry to be Mr Safety Sensible. Your an inspiration. Amos, great guy too. Always enjoy your videos.
Is there a montage of all the times Greg falls in the water? Ever since alone he has been doing it 😅 love this guy
Awesome!
Hay Greg and Amos ,Great video again,Yual lucky and smart 2 have Finley with you,he is always there, great wood work,Tanks again “A”!
That check up video idea for the radishes and to stay another night is real good 👍🏽
Caveman tv better for you than regular tv programming, that's for sure!
Finn said fool me once, oh well, fool me twice, I am a dog after all, but fool me three times… my stick!
The Japanese water bottle is super cool.
Yes he can carry his own food
Number one rule of safety in survival situations, DON’T WALK ON WET ROCKS WITH A KNIFE IN YOUR HAND, LOL! 😂
Good job fini
Those Minks always try to steal my fish here in Colorado, their smart animals and sneaky as hell.
Saddle pack for finn is such a good idea!
Yes, I agree Finn could be carrying a dogpack, he is a working dog. Please research how much weight is safe for him to carry, Finn will be older one day and carrying TOO much weight will affect him later in his life.
And then you said you were going panning gold and I stayed tho I should have seen to.. my pup!! 😂 oh yes I do have my priorities straight Mr Greg😂
Yeah! Get Mr.Finn a back pack to carry his foods, pots and pans.😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️
Greg, the fish can't bite if they're too busy laughing at you cast your line! JK!, great video brother!
Thanks 👍
Hopefully you`ll have better luck at the next spot .
Thank You for sharing your video, and bringing us along .
My cat will be sleeping and when I put one of these videos on the tv he’ll wake up turn around and watch it with me
Very cool
Zac, I noticed you put the link to amos’ channel in the description.
Awesome!
Still waiting for just Greg camping!!
lol it’s only day 18 of a 30 day adventure with Amos it might take awhile for a new solo vid 😂
Well I hope you guys find a better spot to camp. Great video
