Being 13 back in 76 these bikes to me are proper GP bikes my hero’s sheene, roberts, mamola. Thanks Dave Love it.
Real bikes that were raced by real men! Long before all sorts of restrictions were put upon us. To me they really are the good old days. Thanks for the video!
As 60 Yr old..this transported me straight back to my childhood.....I can almost smell those bikes as the rev....and I don't mind addmiting there's a tear in my eye.....Incredible....thank you ...
Glad you liked it, they are very special machines
A proper engineer talking to another proper engineer, top quality Dave 👍
Thanks. I enjoyed getting geeky with them
Pure motorcycle nostalgia. Took me back to my formative teen years. They were, and still are, so raw and yet highly engineered for purpose. Wonder what the young folk of today will have for their memory inducing classics in 40/50 years time?
Lol they will have their video games. I am sure some will have some memories hard to believe they will be as good as these
Riding there flight cycles reminiscing about H2 supercharged or R1M1s .
@@BrianJacobsen-vn6is Yeah, sounds about right. I might start to envy them.
Great to hear these bikes run. Shame the RG500 wouldn't play ball and start on the Saturday or Sunday, but fantastic to see the older Suzuki and Yamaha circulating the track. I think John Hopkins certainly enjoyed the TZ750 by the look of it!
Wish I still had my TZ350G. Loved it!
Blue smoke and vicious power bands...love it Dave, what a cracking line up.
The TZ 750 had a very generous power band.....plenty of torque
At the 9:15 mark in this video you explained why I once went on a 2 hour ride on my 250cc two-stroke dirt bike with a passenger and we both got covered in two-stroke oil, especially her. We are still together 12 years later. I knew that was real love back then. Any woman who is willing to go through mud with you and get covered with oil is a keeper.
Another great video Dave. For fans of a certain age these 2 strokes bring back wonderful memories. I was on the island in 81 and saw Mick win the TT. Got a photo of him up at Jurby airfield midweek sorting the carburation on the RG somewhere
Wow! That was probably the best and most informative piece on these incredible bikes from that incredible GP era. Thank you my good sir!
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it
That Yamaha is a beast.
Evening Dave……oooh GP porn……remember that TT winning bike, great video content 👍💪🇮🇲👌
Nothing like a nice 2 stroke racing machine they sound like a proper racing motorcycle 🏍
I was a 16 year old when these bikes were ruling grand Prix. I also went to the Translantic Trophies at Brands and a few go as well. Maybe it's the rose tinted glasses, but it all seemed so much more exciting and accessible then. Sheene was my idol growing up. Never replaced him either
Exactly same here. When Barry retried I could not get behind any other rider, Rossi came close but not the same.
No you're right. It was more fan friendly. Just leave them when they are working....most riders will take a sucky sweet . The Haslems like wine gums. Sheen preferred a fag
Wow Dave
Thank you so much
Another great video
Took me back to 1976!
Two stroke heaven love it
Nice one Dave strokers the thing of my teenage dreams. Langen have proven they can be clean, bring back the ring a ding ding! 👍🔥
great video dave .love two stokes noisy energy
Love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning 😂
RG XR Mamola is the later 'stepped' square four motor. The TZ looks like a 'D' spec production bike (rear swinger apart) like Reads RG, whereas the OW31 versions were factory specials only made available to works supported riders.
Seeing Baker and Roberts on the OW31s was great. Baker was a brilliant smooth rider.
Thank you very much for this video. Love these bikes
Simply a superb video Dave..love it👍👌
WOW!! Thank you very much.
Love a two stroke, just don't get to see or hear many nowadays 😍
Outstanding, bloody outstanding..
Excellent,as usual,keep them coming,thanks Dave.
The TZ750 looks like a Kenny Roberts bike 🏍 very cool 😎
Great video Dave. Thanks 👌🏻
No electronic pure horse power and riders talent.
It seems odd now but you could see these bikes racing on British circuits most weekends and the sound and smells were awesome and as a famous British race team owner said real race bike's don't have keys 😊 👍
RG500 very cool bike 🏍 😎
yep i have some rg500 stuff from racing years ago , think body work , tank , an frame , A great bike , enjoyed drag racing 750 h2 more though then gsxr1100 when they came out and really that was a great all round daily driver , take it to the track do anything bike , still have the h2 would never sell it an wish i had kept the gsxr but you get old so the way it goes .
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Beautiful 👍👍👍
Great stuff from the best era in my humble opinion, how about a video with Bill Simpson on making and building these beauties.
music to my ears 2strokes back in moto gp💪💪
Id love to put the TZ750 engine in a modern R6 frame to harness all the potential the engine had to offer with modern suspension, geometry & tires.
Went with dad in 76/ '77 to see Barry at cadwell Park... Then later at Donnington....other tracks
MCN every week' 76 to '79. Great stuff these two strokes
Kenny Roberts wanted the TZ 750 restricted to 28 millimetre carb inlets. He said it was too fast and that Maybe only two or three guys could race them to their full potential. Great days.....the privateers on a 750 yam could match the best somedays. Ron Haslam being a wealthiest on the 700 and later the 750. Slicks came in and the chassis lagged behind. Seeing someone on a badly handling TZ 750 was a scary thing.
Super cool I remember
Being picky, the good chap mentioned that not many bikes could boast wins in a GP and the TT.
I'd suggest this was commonplace in the 50s/60s. I guess he was referring to the 70s onwards.
A good point well made 😂
I love the unsilenced Suzuki.
Wow, Nothing like staring death in the face.😇
Dave will be running a team st tt24?
TZ750 had reed valves on induction so very little blow back and machine and rider definately did not get covered in oil.
Ahh ! The smell of castor and race gas in the morning.. Manmola road that bike. Imagine if you had a street version Yeee haw ! Has anyone seen the only early video and audio Mike talks you threw pratice lap. Footage of Mike Hailwood of the isle of man tt. On a TZ 750.? Its fricking awesome.
Is it just me that can smell it ?
Bet the smell was epic!
It was pretty good 😁
Back when the rider's wrist was the traction control , a real riders bike unlike the computer controlled , winglet creations they ride today , even a kid off a moto3 bike can ride one in anger , unlike these strokers which would have had em off in a heart beat 😂
Couldn't agree more... unlike the shit today... ain't got the time of day for MotoGP...the bike's have last there appeal...bring back two strokes...proper porn machine's.
These Bikes are absolute marbles. They get prettier with de decades. How I wish to have attended a race with Cecotto, Roberts, Lawson., Mamola.
That Phil Read is positively painful! Mmmm
🥱 the rear suspension should be so close as possible to the ground - asia , they try something but it is not german engineering !
i prefer exhaust gases at the "belly pan" also the wight of the rear shock absorbers - but hey yeah if a company find a "jockey" on the globe which "over skill'ed" it - why not 😊
Proper race bikes🥰. Not the glorified road bikes that BSB and WSB serve up👎🏻. The fact that the glorified road bikes are churning out way more power than these 2 strokes is totally irrelevant🤭. The tyres they were using back in the 70s must have been rock hard compared to the ten lap wonders they use today too. And the suspension must be leagues better nowadays🤔.
I too am a fan of a real race bike, that's why motogp is better than wsb 😊
@@obsession_engineeringyeah, part of the attraction of racing is the machinery and that's missing from production based racing. That's probably why I just can't get into Moto 2, plus even tho everyone's using the same engine it doesn't seem to provide close racing🤔
Anyway, thanks for the videos you provide sir👍🏻. I really enjoy the behind the scenes race engineer stuff as it gives some insight into the dark art of how you go about setting the machines up. The Oliver's Mount vids are interesting too as it's the first track I ever went to 👍🏻
Old guy failed to mention its four 125 mz cylinders with all its stolen technology that suzuki couldn't achieve it themselves
Quite right, without degner they'd have been nowhere!
on the tz 750 on pots 2 and 3 . it looked as they got diffrent carbs on and got something written on them in red paint
Ear porn!!
Thanks Dave, I’m now nursing a semi 😂
😬
