Its fine that they want to make money, they are a business after all, but they have this terrible way of dealing with their smaller franchises and studios to the point of absorbing while also being very careless and tactless with dealing with those niche communities and actively deterring them. I imagine the reason they absorb all these small studios and stuff like bullfrog probably has to do with the idea that sooner or later one of them will churn out a hit that's so successful that it more than makes up for the rest of the """unsuccessful""" purchases that didnt do as such even if they did make money. They dont care about art after all, just making money like any other business and their business practices can get pretty destructive to franchises since they're like metal detector, going through anything and everything till that ONE spot strikes gold out of all the hundreds that dont.
Yeah pretty sad, if you look to Ubisoft (one other major that sucks) but they have their major AAA-titles to create money, for smaller more independend (not moneywise, creativewise) developements. They really have a good balance there, they know they have back up for the big cash in, but they are willing to risk on nicheprojects (Beyond Good and Evil 2 for example) EA is just a shill of their former selfes. Maximum profit with minimum effort... nothing inbetween.
@@minecraftfreak1866 depends on how it does. Frankly there's a good chance that if Battlefield V underperforms, DICE might have a lot of employees reshuffled into EA's other studios, neutering them in the process. Also might mean that future Battlefield (and Star Wars Battlefront) games may be put on hold indefinitely.
I just want skate 4 with a mid 90s story with lots of partys and some crime and running from cops and a little bit of a coming of age story through skateboarding and becoming a pro at the end of the story mode.... we also need a open world online mode with achievements such as if you become a certain level you can take your shirt off and become a legend just like in nba 2k19. Edit: I was definitely high af writing this mb for the grammar 😂.
EA does not care about gamers. They care about the bottom line. Yes Skate will not make them oodles of money, but they will make a profit and please a large portion of gamers. I don't think EA understands the value of good PR.
msidler84 i think they do. Fact is, gamers have short memory. The majority falls into some hype train and their wallets open up. When the game is shit they get mad for a while and when the next hype train comes
Session & Skater XL will be those games, just give them some time. I'm lucky enough to have a computer that runs Steam games & have the early access versions of both. They are a ton of fun. I play a lot more Session than Skater XL, but they are both awesome. Also, Session has come a long way since this video and looks and feels much better than what is represented.
@@bransonbush6866 That is honestly a very similar comparison. Session is a much more realistic skateboarding simulator, much like skate 1 was considered back when it first came out. Skater XL on the other hand feels to me, more Arcade like. Not nearly to the extent of the THPS games. But they are two very different experiences. Some people will surely have hard opinions about both. But I am certainly able to enjoy both games. They are both a ton of fun in my opinion.
Considering how Skate 4 would be a perfect game for EA's microtransaction business, I'm surprised that they haven't decided to give it a shot. Let's be real here, if they were to release a new Skate game, it would have microtransactions out your ass.
Nitroh, hardly tell the difference? Well I guess you don’t own a One X...call it whatever you want but it’s playable in 4K HDR and it looks like a completely new game. If Skate 4 looked like this it would be a great looking game. Track down some 4k footage on UA-cam and tell me that shit looks the same. You Sony fanbois are delusional man. Only the most butthurt of fanboy would say 1080p looks the same as 4K HDR.
GFuelieBoi and here you are calling me “triggered” over resolutions and what do you do? Talk about resolutions lmao. Are you new to this whole internet thing? Cause you’re not very good at it.
Doedsjarl for me skate 3 has just the right balance of sim and arcade in the gameplay, I can get crazy speed and do awesome tricks but it still takes some thought and setup into how to execute them and they won’t always pan out anyway if I get too carried away so it’s still not tony hawk level arcade but still a bit more forgiving than skate 2. The map itself is broken up into sections instead of one big down hill so to speak and I like that it feels like a relatively believable big city. The level of customization and being able to create parks as well has kept it fresh for me all these years.
@@Douthwaite I find both games to be more fun in their own ways. I haven't picked them up in a while, but I remember one of them (Skate 2?) had a vastly better local play system than the other, so I always turn to that one if I have friends over. And then for single player/screwing around on your own I find the mechanics of Skate 3 to be superior in almost every way as well as offering some fun community made maps. Again this is off of rusty memory, if I have some stuff backwards feel free to correct me lol
LilShootDawg Eh, It’s only seen in a few clips. At least the creator had the decency to stretch the select few and not stretch *every* *single* *clip* like some people would do.
Blackbox studios was shut down by EA. So the the only way there will be a Skate 4 is if EA takes risks and request a different studio to develop the game, similar to what they did for SSX. The only worry about that is, is that it might not be as good as the predecessors.

Don't tell me about it. Started skate 1 few years ago and then stopped playing for good for a while. I just restarted it recently and finished the game few days ago. That challenge plus the X games vert competitions have been the thoughest ones of the game. All the rest is pretty easy
I still play Skate 3 to this today multiple times a week sometimes everyday.. it's amazing.. every time i go and play it's not like any other game.. every time you play skate it's like going out to skate in real life.. you can do whatever you want..explore.. find new spots.. i usually just play for an hour or so but every time i start it up it's like a fresh new experience. Which was just regular mode in Skate and Skate 2... that's why Skate 3 died... it failed to continue what Skate and Skate 2 were about... Skate 3 was far too easy
@@lpmorgan90 It's definitely not regular mode, regular in skate 3 is the same as skate 2 was. Before hardcore you wouldn't have to hold and pop to land some flip tricks on flat. And normal mode on skate 1 and 2 (the only mode) also had grind assist making grinding much easier as it would suck you onto the rail like a magnet. The challenge with hardcore has always been grinding as it was the first time the series had the option to have no grind assist making it much harder to grind then ever before. Although hardcore mode was still pretty easy and far from sim it was the rushed and terrible maps and bland feel that put everyone off the game. Most people never even play on hardcore and play on easy making things appear like the game was much more unrealistic then it was and this also turned many people off the game. It's hard to even find online lobbies that aren't easy mode where everyone is tricklining and glitching
rockstar recently has been a major disappointment. GTA V was a good game till they fired the lead director and turned it into a cesspool of in game purchases and made it nearly unplayable for those who were once familiar with how simple it was at launch. it would be insulting for them to do that to a community that needs a good game now more than ever.
When Skate first came out, I would go to Walmart just play the demo because I didn’t have a ps3 yet. Once I got my ps3, it was the first game I bought.
Best features in Skate 3 -Park Creator (pretty much made the game) -Skate Reel ( you had the option to upload clips and download them from their server and make montages without a capture card -Graphics Creator (you can make graphics for decks, clothes, or branding for your created park) Hands down the best skateboarding game anyone could ask for, but yet it was looked over, met longtime friends off of this game as well and had so many good times off S3

Man, I'll support Session. Even though it ain't Skate 4, the developers clearly want to keep the Skate world alive in their own way. I just hope it won't be as clunky and awkward as it looks in the clips you showed. Skate 3 was smooth with flip tricks and grinds/slides.
Oh sweet, yeah motion capture will clean it all up good :) Feeling pretty hopeful, the team behind it look passionate about it, so hopefully it'll kick ass!
I backed session on kickstarter and its a huge jump up from skate. Animations are still clunky as those say because of its early development but its so much more fun and realistic / sumalition like in a good way. You can have auto catch to just do a trick or manually change flip speed and catch timing
@@SambaJones97 Yeah, adding the ability to flip the board faster and for longer is sick. Can't wait to spend like 4 hours trying to land a triple 720 flip ;D
The Skate franchise is probably the only game franchise in existence that I'd be willing to buy a brand new console for no matter how expensive. The only one I'd continue to play a game that's years and years past it's general replay value even more so than brand new games that come out. That being said, the thing that most clearly made Skate 3 flawed in comparison wasnt a 'lack of innovation', but rather a clear and transparent lack of effort put towards building a quality city to skate in. It's pretty obvious that Port Carverton was built in haste and with casual arcade players in mind. It oozes a vibe of 'copy & paste'. These casual gamers who want to see megaparks, 100 ft long rails, and things of the sort seem to sell more copies to a giant gaming corporation like EA. Hence, the game's focus is pointed in their direction rather than the sect of the game's fans who inspired it's creation and helped make it great in the first place.
Skate 3 had nowhere near the level of detail of skate 2. Skate 2 felt like a real lived in city with very nice textures and things to see down every alleyway. 3 had all these smooth grey textures and all the spots were made to get massive amounts of air instead of focusing on creating lines. Even if they just took the engine from 3, kept hardcore mode and used the map from 2, I would buy that game.
I agree about Skate 3's environments. The graphics also look plain compared to Skate 2, with less post-processing effects. They tweaked the gameplay in 3 in important ways tho - the replays have a freely-rotating camera, the bail physics are way more complex, controls off the board are far better, and they added hardcore mode.
Seems there was an overabundant influx of inspiration, innovation and overall quality at that time. When things went fully-3D seems as everything changed, literally and not always for the best. I guess it's technically and artistically more diffucult to build full 3D worlds then it is in a 2D/Isometric way with perhaps the illusion but also the immersion of fully rendered 3D worlds.

Unfortunately false. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s it's a no brainer, but our kind is on the way out. Has been for a while. Pretty soon all we'll have are all-online social standing murder simulators, where all anyone can do is shoot, screech out racial and homophobic slurs, and choose how much you want to pay to get good and look like an asshole. Games focused on fun, or telling a compelling story, that strive to improve mechanics in meaningful ways, will still be there, sure, though they will be trickled out to keep the old ones buying systems whenever there's a surplus the executives can't legally take without having to pay more than they're willing in taxes. And we shall weep at the sight of ours sons and daughters, with piss-yellow skunk stripes dyed in their hair, raging at their MicroSony XStation for not giving them the much coveted dildo helmet after $600 and 1500 loot boxes. The salt of our tears will bleach the earth, leaving nothing but barren wastes. The rivers of tears will once and for all fully submerge Manhattan, already shrunken down to the size of a few football fields due to rising sea levels, forever sealing away the ancestral home of Spider-Man. Simply put skateboarding represents freedom, rebellion, personal discipline, passion, creativity, and fun. These are all things the rank and file morons buying FIFA, NFL, COD, and Battlefield games every year, play for a month and throw out because they either suck at them or get bored, neither respect nor give a second thought for. So unless skating comes to the cultural forefront in a way that eclipses football, basketball, soccer, and shooting people in the face while screaming obscenities like a child, Skate will sadly fade away (besides the inevitable $60 remaster that somehow has content removed and in its place are microtransactions). But maybe some indie dev will make something, you never know... don't hold your breath for Sessions though.

Def Jam, FIFA street, EA Sport BIG, all the street games, and the list Goes on....

Skate 2 is much much better than Skate 3.
Really? How do you change the setting? I’ve had skate 3 for the longest time and didn’t know this lol
Andrew /\ H-TOWN pause the game, settings, gameplay, difficulty, you can choose normal, easy, hardcore
Skate 2 was the best all around imo. I loved trying to get the craziest knockouts from the security guards. Was my favorite thing to do.
Most people never even play on hardcore and play on easy making things appear like the game was much more unrealistic then it was and this also turned many people off the game. rockstar recently has been a major disappointment. GTA V was a good game till they fired the lead director and turned it into a cesspool of in game purchases and made it nearly unplayable for those who were once familiar with how simple it was at launch. it would be insulting for them to do that to a community that needs a good game now more than ever.

Hence, the game's focus is pointed in their direction rather than the sect of the game's fans who inspired it's creation and helped make it great in the first place.
i would hope if they made another one they would be smart enough to also realese it on PC
Honestly, as early as Skate 2 you started to see that, everything being on kind of a stacked format, but still was decent enough to get away with it.
Ryan Portwood fight night... 😔

But maybe some indie dev will make something, you never know... don't hold your breath for Sessions though.

duuuuuuuuuuude! when that skate 2 music started i almost cryed! so much memories.. still can't belive they close Black Box after they revolutionize the genere, skate and nfs:underground series were masterpieces!
I just don’t understand EA😤they really don’t understand how many people would buy skate 4, especially with skate brands like Supreme and Palace on the rise, people who don’t even skate are willing to buy $160 hoodies, I can guarantee you those same people would buy skate 4 just for the culture, they would follow the hype and since the hype right now is grounded by skate culture they would buy the game, not to mention the new very popular Mid90s movie by Jonah Hill, which is a movie friends of mine (who don’t even skate) went to watch just because they like the culture behind skateboarding. NOW is the time for a Skate 4 ! Its time for EA to open their eyes and take off their thick veil to a growing world of skateboarding culture 🛹
So, because a bunch of fucking posers want to dick ride the culture, EA has to make Skate 4. Fuck outta here.
@@nolessnomore6731 hes just saying their would be an audience
@@chyeaOGKush If the audience is all the kids that wear Supreme or Palace and think skating is about bagging on others while getting fucked up and turning up, then I don't want Skate 4 or the culture to survive.
@@nolessnomore6731 or just dont associate yourself with them.. whenever anythings popular enough your going to get that , just gotta ignore that shit..
@@chyeaOGKush I don't, it's just shitty whenever you go to a park to see kids getting shit on, because they are just starting out and can't do alot of tricks. Not to say that it didn't happen in the past, but It's happening more and more as time goes on. Plus as time goes on it's more about an image rather than skateboarding, people like to dress in skateboarding brands, but not actually skate.
Everything EA touches turns to dust.
Dude, I think you're looking at it wrong. That's shit in front of us.
Amazing video!!! Skate 3 is still one of my favourite game ! I hope to see a 4th skate one day
We should make an event on Fb like raiding are 51 but instead of that we want EA to make skate 4 !! I think its not a bad idea
Your words are condescending rn
Holy cow am I early I get so hyped every time I see a new video from you guys keep up the great work
At least remaster the thing.
I'd love to play Skate 3 on the go, on Switch!
The Thing, now there's a game worthy of a remake.
I remember walking a ramp halfway across the map to get the best trick in skate2. Hands down! Skate2 was the best in my opinion! Multi player, editing, the introduction of walking and positioning world objects in whatever manner you’d like, the soundtrack just everything! Perfection!
i had flashbacks when green onions started playing
What's that
The music.
Skate never fell , it was killed , for some weird ass reason no one will ever know
Money and Greed
@@ammonha that is EXACTLY it. ea or at least its ceo need to go down with all their greed.. sadly not gonna happen anytime soon so they keep buying up and closing others.
I literally just made this comment. I am glad it made it in the top comments. This dude did the title a bogus one
For the same reason we got battlefront 2.
It's actually EA's fault as the kill their developers studio. EA takes big IP's (Individuals projects) as they killed off Black Box they have Possession of NFS and Skate. They can do whatever they want with them. So yes the blame is EA imagine if Black Box was still here, we would still have good NFS and Possibly Skate 4 but nope EA did them dirty.
I remember playing the Skate 1 demo on PS3. It felt so good to just cruise around, the skaters had weight to them, unlike the Tony Hawk games.
I like how this just popped up on my recommendation after skate 4 announcement last night
all the mongo pushing hurts, i would roast my mates about accidentally doing it hahaha
xD i was thinking the same
Very cool dude, hows that back tail shuv 270 out? Only a real core skater would worry about mongo pushing yeahhh skate life bro tony hawk rodney mullen thrasher hoodies on 24/7
Meowageddon Couldnt agree more. Why do people care how other people push? It always cracks me up when some shit skater is giving someone else hell cause they push mongo.
@@ICantMeow ItS nOt CoOl tO pUsH MoNgO
@@Nherdvous skateboarding is about style and mongo objectively looks bad and is worse for setting up for tricks.
Rise and Fall of Killzone?
lol killzone never rose
yes it did, during the ps3 glory days killzone 2 and 3 were some of the finest fps you could find (both graphically and history wise)
i played both 2 and 3 less than a year ago (i was feeling nostalgic af) and the graphics, while not great, still holds up in 2018, and that's a great feat for a 2008 game running on 2006 hardware
It's not actually died so no.
Killzone never rose to begin with lol it was always a failed attempt to topple halo
GTA has already a thriving city and sweet game engine, why not make a skate mode add-on ?
thats the dream
really hard to make all that map data / surfaces skateable.
@@salami99 harder than creating the whole game from scratch ? I've not studied enough to answer that
@@Matthew_Brookes Either way someone is manually going to every ridable surface GTA and programming what tricks and surfaces are ridable. From scratch, you can make a few models than reskin them to then make it a city. At least that's how SKATE games were developed. Gta is more artistic and has too many different surfaces and heights either their won't be enough of the map to be realistically skatable or the games gonna be really weird
And good parks. The venice park is in gta five. That'd be so sick.
I cant believe youtube recommended me this video 3 days before the announcement of skate 4
Skate 3 though 👌
Cybernik The Robot meh
Wasnt that the one where you needed to buy DLC in order to play multiplayer?
+Rational Adult I guess so, I rarely play multiplayer on video games.
But the game is already perfect in singleplayer, just see Vinesauce, he had a lot of fun breaking the game.
Cybernik The Robot Yeah the game was still good but i cannot forget the amount of dissapointment when i finally got it for 360 and started playing with a friend, we probably messed around in the menu for good 20min until realizing that there is no local multiplayer this time.
I couldn't wrap my head around as to why wouldn't they implement it this time around as most fun i've ever had with said games were with friends.. Until i saw the DLC and it all made sense, in hindsight that was the first time i saw EA greed in action. Back to skate 2 for the multiplayer fix then.
Skate 2 was superior
Watching a skate game brings me back when those were the only games I’ll play
EA used to be a really great game company but now all they care about is money.
Do you know how long ago that really was? Kinda flawed comment!
CabinDoor Wrong. It all started when ultimate team became free
@@thevideojames35 that's kinda true

Anyone else seeing all the no skate 4 comments, after skate 4 is announced
If I'll be a billionaire one day, I'll rebuy EA Games and instantly get the old EA Skate devs for Skate 4
I hope y'all love San Van.
Can you make boba fett a playable character
rebuy means youve once sold them, and blackbox was disbanded, its not like EA has them in a closet lol
When the devs are 80 years old.
Not gonnal lie, I'm more of a Carverton guy myself
You're the hero we need
zillakami just posted this vid to his story lmao
That’s why i searched up this vid lol
Thats why im here aswell lol
Great guy
Who?
SaviorAssassin1996 some black guy with a rocket launcher
Skate 4 is finished but EA is trying to find a way to fit microtransactions into it
Lol
Hope they don't see what is happening over at smartphones with True Skate
At this point I would take skate 4 even with micro transactions
EA is the cancer of the industry
You start off with only being able to Ollie but have to buy tricks :(
Pop Shuv: $1
Kickflip: $3
Heelflip: $3
Varial Kickflip/Heelfip: $4.50
360 Flip: $360 :(
And now sure enough here we are. Skate 4 is announced!
WE WANT SKATE 4! 9 years is a helluva long time to wait...
Same for fight night
oh i got a hellava thing to tell you
@@esamirs1605 what's that?
Apparently as of recent, EA has hinted at bringing back older titles when asked about a skate 4 game. So maybe, just maybe we will have our wishes granted.
we did
Quinn Marchese so they are making Skate 4?
@@kensingtonwick yuh, EA announced it like 3 days ago. The Skate twitter account retweeted a five year old tweet from Tyler, the Creator saying "We're back"
@@quinnmarchese6313 Awesome!! Looking forward to seeing graphical improvements on the next generation consoles. I hope the stick with the same controller scheme. The control scheme for Skater XL is soooo fucking gay.
Imagine that moment when you crack open a fresh skate 4 and as soon as the game starts the main character is dancing orange justice
I would slap my projector🤦🏾♂️
OH NO >"
