I am a real world Airline pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the detailed simulations of airliners in MSFS and X Plane. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Just ordered my miniFCU a few hours ago. And *then* saw your video. Doh! I missed out on the 10% off! C'est la vie! I'm so glad to see the "pull for me fly / push for you (plane) flies" works! I'll be using in VR, so it'll be great to actually feel the knobs and see changes.

Very interesting. Great to have a perspective of a professional who flew both.

I fly the 175 and it's basically a Boeing with Airbus automation. I prefer the Boeing autopilot but I really like the feature of automatically switching to NAV when confirming a direct.

Really helpful thanks! It struck me whilst watching your stream the other day how clever the wing design is on the 787. Mach .85 in the cruise to 150, 160 knots approach. And still be stable throughout that range. Stunning piece of design.

Very helpful tutorial. Thanks! Personally I much prefer the Airbus design. It's just so dang simple. It's nice to know that the MiniFCU can work with the 787. Hopefully there will also be a way to get it to work with the PMDG 737 and 777 in future, but what I'm really hoping for is a MiniMCP for Boeing. Currently the only ones I've seen out there are ridiculously priced.

I honestly love both manufacturers' planes, though Boeing has had it's fair share if mishaps in the last couple of years compared to Airbus!
Thank you again for another educational video!

For the people that don't want to wait for the miniFCU, or for who it is too expensive, a really recommend creating one on your own, if you have some electronics and soldering skills. I've bought a project box, arduino, some buttons, encoders and almost finished one that really brings the immersion on the next level, and you can include any buttons you want. Of course miniFCU would be better and will look far more realistic, almost not comparable, but anyway, it can be quite fun, challenging and just interesting for many people to build one by yourself. And mobiflight software makes it so easy to configure one, it works really nice with fenix a320 (just without being easily able to display values, but the inputs works perfectly)

Yeah, and they spend quite some money to get Flightsim UA-camrs to do ad for them. Streamdeck is the better deal IMO, and it feels and handles top notch quality. Much more versatile as well, don't forget the 777 is coming soon and my A320 will be in the hangar for a while

Price is what stopped me from ordering it. $269 seems pretty high for plastic. Also dont like the trend of buying products that are not available for shipment. We assume they are handling the funds appropriately, but that isnt always the case. Honeycomb is a great example of that at the moment

I have personally purchased and extensively used Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, TCA Airbus captain pack, several throttle quadrants, several joysticks, several yokes, several rudder pedal rigs, and a Pro-flight Puma collective/cyclic.
My not-too-surprising observation for flight sim is that high build quality (incl. software) matters a LOT for satisfying realism/longevity, and it can even command a decent premium.
However, with that in mind, even if the mini has tier 1 build quality, the price still seems “out of market.” To me, qualitatively it “feels” like it should be more like $160+.
I’d really love to hear others’ comments/feedback on their experience with it vs the price.

Boeing really mixed it up in 787.. You have combination of old style Boeing controls (push buttons) and you have Airbus like buttons on rotary knobs.. Airbus did it better from the start, keeping it consistent and simpler..

With Mobiflight, and Quartz it does work. Theres a simple video, and Config for it. Using it at the moment works perfectly. Just search MiniFCU Fenix MobiFlight. Once You have Mobiflight working with it, making it work with any other plane becomes easy. Theres a nice generic profile for most of the rest of the aircraft in MSFS.

Top notch - I think by comparing the Airbus and Boeing makes some potentially confusing stuff very easy to understand. Using the miniCockpit Airbus fcu to operate the in sim Boeing mcp made me grin - do you think Boeing will get in touch with miniCockpit to sponsor them to make a Boeing mcp ?
