Awakening, the way DF explained it was a little different to me. He already had it in his head that a devil fruit power is only limited by the user's imagination. I feel like once you hit a wall with your abilities to use your fruit, awakening is when you push forward. Chopper, I think is just one step away from awakening, he only needs to go monster point without a rumble ball and gain incredible recovery time.
crocodile mention of how he mastered his DF... being crocodile was the 1st DF user with awakened DF ability introduced in the series..
Perhaps Luffy’s gears are also awakened modes
@@cumorahkowallis3353 It's been 9 months and Luffy does have an awakened ability that he technically labeled as an awakening. You were sorta right!
One point about Crocodile having awakening: the moment he was defeated, it started raining again. And it was stated that while Crocodile lived on Alabasta, there was a considerable drought. (The dance powder involved was used to frame the king, not to cause the drought.)
So even if Alabasta was a desert kingdom before Croc came around, it is totally possible that Croc did use his fruit to cause a drought, that only ended when he was knocked out.
Obviously it is more likely that rain was more of a symbolic decision by Oda, but still, if we are being pedantic we can count it as a hint of Croc's awakening.
it could be that croc is partially awakened because of his moisture draining ability and he did turn thw Ground into sand in alabasta
the reason why it rained was because smoker asked a high up friend of his in the marine to use a confidential rain making machine/ship.This discussion between him and the other was shown in the same episode i believe

@@MrRoflmaw Alright, according to the wikie episode 127 adapts chapters 211 and 212. Neither of those chapters have Smoker using the dance powder. In fact he denies having used it. All he did was capture Crocodile's rain-making ship.
now about Luffy Awakening, i believe that he will Awake when he fight Black Beard. each Yonko will make Luffy evolve onde thing.
Bigmom arc= Observation Haki
Kaido arc= Armament Haki
Shanks arc= Conquerors Haki
Blackbeard arc= awakening fruit
That actually makes a lot more sense than it should. Blackbeard definitely has an awakened devil fruit, and has eaten more than one fruit. This means he definitely knows the secret of devil fruits. He is currently hunting for fruits for his crew and by the time we get to that fight, they most likely will also be awakened. There’s a very high chance GOda will reveal that secret to us then. That’s Luffy will awaken his.

Pokemon logic: if ur fighting against a ground and water type like mudkip, water type is super effective to its ground type however, grass type is super super effective. So basically using this scenario, water types are other liquids and grass types is sea water (ik its confusing cuz of how I said it but yh)

I think that every paramecia/fruit in general having the "same" awakened form is kind of boring

What if Buggy's awakening were that he can split himself at the cellular level (since he only splits himself into hams right now), invading someone else's body and tearing them up from the inside?What would Robin's awakening be, since her power already allows herself to place her body parts on the enviroment and other people?
It would make more sense if awakening was more fruit to fruit based, at least when it comes to paramecias

I agree and I think that is the plan broadly speaking- Paramecia are so varied and different I think it is impossible for them to have similar awakenings when the powers are so different. The Yomi Yomi no mi comes to mind (it’s awakening is almost 100% not affecting the environment)

I think it’s too complicated fruit to fruit based. I think each class of df generally awakens same way. You can always ask but what about xyz fruit but the fact is this is all Oda’s imagination. Excluding zoans, if there isn’t a good environmental analog we probably just won’t see that df awakened. As for the examples you mentioned though, I think awakened Robin would be able to duplicate other objects/people instead of just her body. Even though she can place her body parts on the environment, it doesn’t affect the environment itself. I can see her touching 1 sword and blooming 100s of them to arm an army or bloom a giant sword like she blooms giant hands/legs. Buggy splitting himself at the cellular level doesn’t sound like awakening but sounds like the natural limit of his regular fruit. There’s no reason he couldn’t do that and split his environment as well.

8:40 I always kept in mind that Crocodile awakened his Devil Fruit in some form (such as him absorbing moisture isn't really a 'sand' power, but a derivation of that 'sand' represents) and that speech he gave to Luffy of how he trained his Devil Fruit to its full potential. That also implies he didn't have time to learn Haki, 'cause he was too busy training his DF (and also why his bounty was 'only 81 mill' even though he had been to the New World as a pirate.
I always believed that sengoku saying "that man has the ability to destroy the world" about Whitebeard might not just mean his normal df ability ...rather the awakened ability that he might've displayed at his prime and the magnitude of quakes were much more than just quakes and tsunamis caused by it
Also i believe Magellan is awakened too, for two reasons 1) His red Venom affected the surroundings like an Awakened fruit 2) The guards below him were confirmed to be awakened, so it would be weird for Magellan to not be.

Nah he isn't. He just used really strong poison which contaminated what ever it touched, he didn't actually turn anything into straight up poison. At the very least we haven't seen his awakening.

It's important to remember that Magellan was only head warden because Shiryu (who didn't have a devil fruit at this time) was locked up for being a dickhead.. It's not like he was given Warden because he had awakened his fruit and was just so damn strong. It's also largely implied (don't remember if it was stated outright) that Hannyabal and Sadi are stronger than the Jailer Beasts. In general, being weaker or stronger than someone who has an awakened DF doesn't seem to correlate to them also having an awakened fruit. Doflamingo has an awakened fruit yet Cracker (Who big mom was confident would easily defeat post-Dressrosa LUffy even though he beat Doffy) does not. Awakening is like Doffy said, incredibly rare.
Even looking at the effects of the listed stuff here (Ground Secco, Magellan's poison), nothing really indicates awakening. Magellan's poison was stated to be capable of SPREADING which is different from Doffy/Katakuri TURNING inanimate objects into their fruit powers. Crocodile already stated that one of his hands can drain the moisture from anything and ground secco/ground death are just applications of that over a large area. It's not quite the same as instantly turning nearby objects directly into sand.

I've always thought of awakening as a deep understanding of how your fruit works, and how to extend that to other things. The parallel I think of is Toph in the Last Airbender. In her efforts to escape a metal prison, she realized the metal was nothing more than minerals that are in the earth that she could already manipulate.
Except she still gets screwed by devil fruit users like portgas d. ace.

I believe that a devil fruit sticks to the soul of the user, So it's like a spiritual path with the fruit you eat and it'll, Awaken when you're soul unlocks it.
Age doesn't matter much then, maybe it would Awaken faster with who the person is.
crocodile lectured luffy in arabasta arc on learning and understanding your DF ability.. that the key on how to awaken your DF.. even though crocodile was not a strong haki user or master haki.. he became a warlord because of his mastery of his DF meaning awakening his DF

I feel like Big Mom's awakened power is the manifestations of her soul that ask for the "Life Tax" of each island of her territory.

It's really strange with awakenings. We have really strong old devil fruit users in the story like Big Mom, kaido, White Beard that had decades with their devil fruit and thei didn't show their awakening.
Well, he puts up a good theory for Whitebeard’s, being able to not just use the ability on his hand or item he’s holding, but to be able to punch the air and send shockwaves that way. Big Mom, someone in the comments mention her putting souls into things she touches (homies), but the ability she uses to suck the soul out of others (keyword being others and no physical contact is needed). As for Kaido, we’ve not seen him take a fight seriously enough to draw that ability out. Even Doffy didn’t openly use that ability right out of the gate. I like to think as this is using it to its fullest potential, it likely shortens the user’s lifespan and is only to be used in extreme circumstances.
I think Nico Robin and Brook will be the next Strawhats to awaken their fruit, not just because of their age, but because of their experience, and how efficient and versatile they use their fruits.

@@KuroKaizer could be some of anything. Every devil fruit is different, and hers is extremely versatile. Some speculate she will have a Guanyin Bodhisattva, similar to Netero from Hunter x Hunter as an awakening.

I think every Paramecia’s Awakening is different due to the premise of the Paramecia class. For example, I think Kidd’s Awakening would allow him to magnetize things other than metallic objects, becoming an Everything-Magnet while I believe Luffy’s awakening will allow him to take full advantage of his rubbery body, providing him absolute malleability and allowing him to shapeshift.

Since you immediately know all the abilities of your fruit when you ate it, it would make sense that Brook immediately knows that he can make his soul leave his body. But he only discovered that during his 2 year time skip when he's running out of song ideas

Well no actually when you eat a devil fruit you learn the basics of your fruit you have to discover new abilities and your awakening on your own

Im really interested to see how paramecia devil fruits will awakening (besids Doffy) because some of them are just so wild I cant even imagine what it would be. Like, would luffy turn other objects to rubber? Would Brooke be able to posses peoples bodies with his soul? Would Robin be able to clone other people besides herself? theres just so many different possibilities
Lemon Liar I think Brooks would be immortal for a short period of time. Luffy will have complete elasticity control. Meaning he can manipulate his stretchy-ness so much so his spring attacks become ridiculously stronger.

And luffy is already able to use the elasticity control like when he went gear 4 snake man and then used Python to continuously accelerate while stretching at the same time. That last thought is pretty interesting... Law technically could transport someone under water, no? I mean, we’ve seen that it puts a lot of strain and stress on him to create a large enough ‘room’ but, imagine he does this, baits someone in Kaido/BigMom, and ‘shambles’ them deep under ??? I don’t know what restrictions there are as to levels of haki mastery one would need to avoid that or counteract it but, Vergo had the best armament haki we had seen to that point but, that was a slice (physical attack). My head cannon is that paremecias are in 3 category's. Ones that change the user, ones that create something, and ones that effect the environment/other people. Fruits in the first 2 categories get the ability to effect the environment, but the ones in the last category get their activation requirement removed.(whitebeards fruit is the only one that doesn't fit.
P.s Big mom's awakening was being able to send those creatures to take the souls of the people living in totland

I think the awaken for paramecia (or however you spell it) is how you said it in another video to where the 3 categories of paramecia are manipulate that thing, your body is that thing or you can manipulate the surrounding into that thing (I think that was the 3 categories) and when you awaken the fruit you unlock another category based of the way you use the fruit. My bad if I got this all wrong
It seems to be based on time, because all the cases where Devil Fruits are Awakened are people who have likely had it for ages. That reminds me, couldn't it be that Nico Robin's Devil Fruit is already awakened? She can spread her limbs anywhere in the surrounding area after all, and she belongs to the small group of people where we know she had her Devil Fruit for at least 20 years. And it seems a bit weird too, it's not like other Paramecia like Baby 5 can make guns sprout from anywhere... unless they're awakened.
No because she's still producing her limbs, awakening her fruit would lead to her turning the floor into her hands etc rather than simply cloning herself into an object like she usually does.

Doflamingo might simply be at a higher level than Robin and went from affecting surroundings to changing surroundings. Or Oda didnt want Robin to change everything into her limbs because it would look really weird, or when Robin was introduced the concept of Awakening, like Haki, wasn't fleshed out. There's a million explanations for why it doesn't work exactly like Doffys but none i know for why she's seemingly the only Paramecia that can affect things outside of her body and even line of sight (when she spied on Zoro taking Luffys pain or saved Usopp from falling off Sky Island).
@@Lakanus In the case of Robin, being able to sprout limbs from any surface is her basic ability not any form of awakening. She's been doing this since a child. I don't know about Thriller bark but in the case of skypeia, what happened was that when Luffy stretched below the clouds, she had already created an eye on his hand, then she created more arms from that spot.

Remember in the drum island arc where Doctorine described choppers monster point as "the devil fruit running wild". Maybe it does have to do with the users spirit. When chopper goes into monster point pre time-skip, he couldn't control himself because his spirit or willpower wasn't strong enough. Interesting theory Mr Tekking 👌🏾

I personally think DFs awaken differently depending on the fruit itself. The only ones canon we have seen awakened fall in two categories: fruits that “emit,” and fruits that focus power on the user only. The former include the fruits of Doffy, Katakuri, and the admirals. The latter includes the Impel Down demon guards.
IMO, Luffy’s power is closer to a zoan’s in that it only affects the user. Awakened zoans become more animalistic by becoming less human-minded and more unnaturally powerful. Awakened “emitter” fruits allow the user to “create” even more of that element or material they could normally.
Since Luffy has never manifested his power outwardly, just in his own body, I think his awakening would be an absolute maximization of all the traits of rubber. So he becomes more elastic, more resilient, more insulated, etc. This might give him crazy abilities like being able to sustain Red Hawk flames over his whole body for a long time, enhance his stamina by using the natural rebounding properties of rubber so Luffy doesn’t need to use his muscles so much, and stretch more quickly and further, etc. Imagine the awakening doing things like rolling gears 2, 3, and 4 into one without any drawbacks before he even begins applying haki. I think this makes sense and would suit Luffy more than “emitting” his rubber powers, as the nature of his power is closer to that of a zoan when we examine how his power works. It doesn’t affect the environment but just himself.

Buggys awakening is sort of like op op because he can switch body parts
Possible awakening powers:
• Gum Gum: Luffy can cause things he touches (or in an area around him) act like rubber (bending, stretching, being flexible, etc). Like turning the ground into a bouncy rubber trampoline or crashing into a building, but the building bends and flexes (like solid rubber).
• Hana Hana: Robin can turn the environment around her into the flowers that bloom into the different body parts. Turning buildings into giant arms/legs, or turning trees and rocks into ears/eyes.
• Chop Chop: Buggy can split up other objects (maybe even people) around him and control their separate parts with a certain area of effect. Put Buggy in a forest, and the whole forest will be spinning and twirling in hundreds of thousands of segments.
• Door Door: Blueno can manifest multiple doors in an area around him, without having to make physical contact with anything. Put Blueno up against a crowd of enemies, and they all have their heads turned into spinning doors, or Blueno has doors everywhere, jumping in and out while applying his Rokushiki to take them all out.
• Kilo Kilo/Ton Ton: Ms. Valentine/Mach Vise can affect the mass of objects around them, not just themselves. Pretty self-explanatory.
• Clone Clone: Mr. 2 “Bon Clay” can change the appearance of other people instead of just himself.

Cmon imagine a badass Buggy with awakened fruit who actually like the StrawHat pirates now and saves them from admirals chasing after them. That way even if he died, we would have a very memorable memory at him or we could just give him plot armor and turns out that whenever people slice him, he reflects the slice into other people. And imagine him being a god cutlass user and his sword techniques which he leanred with shanks somewhere cuz shanks is gud swordsman and plus he used swords back when he was still in roger's ship with shanks.

Tekkings fruit: math math no mi (ari ari no mi) he can create subtraction signs that can take things away, meaning body parts, someone’s sight, and more. Another aspect is making addition signs, being able to give something like body parts, sight, and more. Then he can create multiplication and division signs, multiplication being able to make copies of things but bigger, like your allies, than division being able to take the copies and return them to Normal.
Remember that the impel down zoan guards were said to be forcibly awakened that's why they are basically mindless
17:55 remember one of the flashbacks in the fight between luffy and katakuri when luffy and rayleigh are eating and its snowing? When they are going for the last training (i suppose) Rayleigh says something like "i will teach you everything i can" and i think he is refering to awaken a devil fruit
that whole sensory ability you mentioned, that might be one of luffy's awakened abilities, if he makes everything rubber, if someone steps on an area it would make ripple effects as it bounces out, luffy with observation could probably sense that, as for using it practically in a fight, eg against kaido, when luffy gets wacked by the beast himself, he would just rebound and fly at kaido with the same force that he was knocked away with, kaido would literally be hitting himself, luffy could perhaps use that rebound force on top of his new upgraded armorment haki for an even deadlier blow, luffy's awakening really fits with his character, it seems goofy but it could be really deadly to his enemys

Does the user need to physically touch objects to change them? I don't recall Katakuri touching the walls to make the two mochi hands. Even so, Luffy could get experienced enough to turn a sword to rubber at the point of contact. Maybe get a paper cut.

I like to think him "using his devil fruit on command" was just observation haki before oda came up with the concept (or more accurately fine tuned how haki works). As for the awakening, just because punk hazard is permanently affected, I dont see why there cant be degrees to awakening if you know how to use it well enough (ie crocodile probably was keeping it active but didnt want a permanent effect for AFTER he had taken over the country and use it as a HQ)

One thing you forgot, was it never rained in Alabasta during Crocidille's reign. Only when he was defeated did it rain, i think he was deliberately drying the climate. He had the ability to remove water from something, he did it to Luffy.
As far as how a DF awakens, i'd think it's something similar to a DB SS transformation. probably a trama that through rage or anger they exceed their previous limits
