Looks like a much better design than the one I bought for the 396LMTS. The one major flaw is still the lock is facing up to allow weather a better chance to get into the locks key hole.
Sold my Navigator 6 and bought this. I love it! I bought a machined tube mount that has the same rear bolt pattern and is threaded so you don’t have to use or worry about exposed nuts. Nice clean install.
They will not be upgrading it because on the new bikes by BMW the GPS is built into the newly designed TFT. BMW cut ties with Garmin and I would imagine it had to do with the problems from the Nav VI.
I think, depending on your bike, you may or may not be able to get behind the unit that easily, and let’s face it, it’s only good for fuel stops or going into the store, I would never leave the GPS on the bike for an extended time.
As with most locks this device turns a 1 second theft into a 60 second theft. Nothing will be more secure than taking the GPS with you when you leave your bike. The clean mounting solution and vibration isolation are also great features of this product.
@@frankferreira9696 Yes, likely much faster by someone with the right tools and skills. In most cases entire motorcycles are stolen in less than 60 seconds but that doesn't make this product any less relevant.
@@TouratechUSA Bad feature is it's not versatile. It has to live with that mount.... Can't move it between other XT mounts without disassembly. Shame......
I'm finally replacing my old Zumo 550 and its old Touratech locking mount with an XT2 & mount. Is the XT2 locking mount pretty much the same setup as this XT one at least as far as mounting hardware goes? I have a Touratech 1/2" crossbar I got back when I got the 550 originally.
Yeah, our XT and XT2 mounts will attach to that same 12mm crossbar that you were using for the 550. Thanks for the question and congratulations on the upgrade.
Thanks Touratech USA. I'll be ordering one or two of these. I've already had my XT pop out twice. Once into my lap and once to the concrete. Garmin replaced at no charge, but they probably wouldn't again. Poor design on their part for an "adventure" gps.
i know im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the account password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Arian Quentin I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
We don't have any hard-parts made specifically for the Spyder but this mount will fit onto the same 4-bolt pattern that the Zumo bolts to. You should check with your dealer to see what GPS mounting options they have for your ride.
Our locking mount requires unobstructed access to the sides of the GPS unit. if your sunshade is mounted only to the top or you can trim away the sides it should work.
Hello, how are you? Excellent product, I have a zumo xt and I would like to purchase this assembly, it would be to install it on a benelli trk 502. I would be missing some more accessories or those that the assembly brings plus garmin accessories, can I install it? Sorry, if it is wrongly translated, I am using a translator.
@@TouratechUSA Last I ask so I am calm that I can install it, what maximum diameter does the handlebar or bar have to have to be able to install it in my benelli trk 502
It will not. The 396 and XT power cradles from Garmin are completely different and the units are different sizes so the locking mounts are not cross compatible.
The mount is lighter than the Zumo itself but it does NOT clamp onto a 25mm bar. You will need some type of adapter from Touratech or elsewhere depending on what type of bike you have.
@@TouratechUSA From the online specs, i see the Zumo XT weighs 0.262 kg and the Touratech mount for the XT weighs 0.560 kg, which is more than the Zumo itself, not less.
I like this mount but, it's not versatile due to permanent mounting to the XT mount. I need a mount that can be switched between my Honda Goldwing GL1800, truck & snowmobile.
You can attach a RAM ball to the back side of our locking mount and switch the machines in the same way that you can with the Garmin factory cradle. You give up some security with the RAM system but it can be very convenient for multiple uses.
@@TouratechUSA Don't see how that can be done due to the Garmin powered backplate being bolted to the Touratech with four bolts. It would be a PIA to remove / install four bolts every time you switch around to different vehicles.

@@rapaent Yes the power cord will also need to be swappable with the unit. You can easily add a 12v connector or cigarette lighter plug to the wires for swapping between vehicles.

What is the total width once that is open? I also wanted to mount it on my windshield bar I bought, but it is 22mm and wondered if it would open all the way between my windshied mount on my 2023 tiger 1200 rally explorer.

too bad it looks that big (and shiny on the inside instead of black) when the nav unit is not mounted, would be nice if it was available without the side clamps
The side clamps are there to keep the GPS unit captive if it wasn't fully clipped onto it's power base. The Garmin Zumo XT cradle is WAY too sensitive to dust and dirt and has a habit of sticking partially open and letting the GPS unit run free. If your main goal is a low profile look, the original Garmin setup is hard to beat.
