Honestly, the whole section of Toadsworth giving the tutorial really explains why he’s not in more recent games. His dementia started to hit its peak with how often he repeated himself. Poor bastard can barely remember his own name these days. If he appeared in Brothership (haven’t played yet, so don’t spoil it if he is), he’d probably still be talking about the Shroobs at this point.
3:58:57 "The curse of playing a RPG with delightful little critters in it is having to murder every delightful critter you see" Sir, that's Toby Fox erasure (this is a post-Undertale world - granted, this game came before it) 😒 5:07:23 "You're touching him with a stylus and like imbuing him with knowledge from a higher level of existence" **cue the cat transcendence meme** (this game is an emote mine) 🎇 5:50:40 "No defense, jail" 😂 I can imagine the internet saying the opposite of that about the real-life Luigi ("No prosecution, free him") 🤌 6:05:08 Thanks for playing it! What a delightfully weird game (I had no idea this was a thing) 👌
Regarding the "murder every delightful critter in an RPG" thing, Moon: Remix RPG Adventure actually did the whole "be nice to the monsters" thing before Toby Fox, with Toby himself even citing Moon as a direct inspiration for sparing monsters in Undertale, and that game came out all the way back in 1997!
...I'm kind of curious to see the usage of Barry's emotes outside his channel now. Not the stats, I mean the moments people are using them and other people seeing them.
5:04:50 Not sure if you noticed, Barry (not that it's really an issue), but the BowserMan emote didn't show in normal sized chat, but then it did in wide chat when you switched displays.
I can't believe I fell asleep right at the end of the stream, so I didn't even hear Barry read my bit cheers. Thank goodness the VOD exists. Once again really glad to see Barry finally play this and see how crazy things get! Incidentally, regarding future streams, even though Barry doesn't seem to care for the kind of platformer that is Pizza Tower (which is a shame, since it's one of my favorite games of all time), I still hope Barry eventually checks out the Wario Land games. Both Pizza Tower and ANTONBLAST primarily take inspiration from Wario Land 4, but aside from Wario Land: Shake It! (which I feel is slower paced and therefore potentially more up Barry's alley in terms of comprehensibility), all the Wario Land games are fairly different in their own way, with Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 and Virtual Boy Wario Land being more like traditional Mario platformers, just accounting for Wario's size and strength, while Wario Land II and Wario Land 3 are really unique games in that Wario can't actually die in them, and it's more about puzzle-solving and exploration than about rapid-reflex testing platforming. It's a series I genuinely love with a passion, and I really hope Barry eventually takes the time to explore them one of these days. Also really hope Barry DOES eventually stream the other Mario & Luigi games, despite his hesitancy to do so. I will say this, while people are entitled to their opinions oh Brothership, I can assure you that it's definitely worth your time playing, even if it gets off to a very slow start.
I think a better phrase would be "the last great Mario & Luigi RPGs", since Dream Team and Brothership are good in their own right, plus Paper Jam is... *technically* competent, even if the actual story is a big nothing-burger stuffed with filler and padding and a bunch of tired lampshade hanging and excessive jokes made at Luigi's expense.
I hated Dream and Brothership. I really really wanted to like them, but they were so middling and boring, I had no desire to finish them. Not trying to take away from others' enjoyment, but I call it based on my own enjoyment.
@@noot1375 In my opinion, Brothership's endgame is well worth everything that came before it, though I didn't think it was all that bad. I definitely think things drag out, so I suppose I don't blame anyone for sticking with it.
@@noot1375considering something to be alright and to ignite hatred are very closely knit perspectives if you consider yourself a big fan of something. If something tries to capture what made the original great but meanders and lulls at every turn, then hatred is indeed a very logical reaction imho
I feel its always hard to get into, especially as a streamer, any longstanding title cause of the intensity people have with liking and disliking parts of the series. Not to say you can't have the emotions, a content creator has to consider all those things if they want to play any part of the series, people will expect the other games and others will vehemently detest their existence. Sometimes its easier to just not play the series at all.
I love how little time it took for Bowser man to not only come into existence, but then become an emote.
They somehow made game about Vore and inflation one of the best Mario RPGs. Alpha dream was built different man.
Partners in Time had giant yoshi level
And those aren't even the only fetishes we see in this game! XD
I love sad bowser peeking over Barry’s shoulder during the stream

2:17:31 Barry, the word you're looking for in enflame-ation.

You weren't being gaslighted xD Toadsworth was trying to teach how to get Excellent commands
It's happening!!!
The Bowser Guts Theme sounds *incredibly* like one of the FFX temple themes.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who noticed
Fun fact, the "z"'s in french aren't pronounced in words! Simply means that the word ends in an "eh" sound.

The last of the good Mario & Luigi RPGs
