I'd agree but its hard for me to be disappointed when his final bow was Bowser's Inside Story of all things. Other characters would kill for a send-off that good. I'm glad Fawful got to go out with a bang rather than quietly discontinued like Toadsworth😊
On Apostrophes - They indicate skipped *letters*, not specifically vowels! I only know this because of infamous “Why is this a word”, fo’c’s’le (forecastle).
I was there for the finale of this but you left before I could say anything about the Paper Jam conversation. I understand both those who love Paper Jam and those who dislike it. From a story perspective, the game is essentially Paper Mario 64 but not done nearly as well. For a series known for pitting the titular Bros. against zany villains, and even when it uses Bowser as a villain it does so really well, "traditional Mario plot transposed onto the runtime of an RPG" isn't that interesting (though much like PM64, there are really great smaller moments within the story). From a gameplay perspective, it has my absolute favorite battle system in the series. It expands on a mechanic first seen in BIS, and reused almost completely unchanged in Dream Team. But Paper Jam turns that mechanic into a deckbuilder that compliments the battle system you already know *really* well. Unfortunately, you don't even *get* this mechanic in Paper Jam until like halfway through the game. But then there's also the gimmick battles, which in Paper Jam take the form of Papercraft Battles, and those feel like they were half-baked.
e.o i recently replayed the game that the intro song is from. Kirby and the crystal shards. I relived my nightmare ptsd. That boss. Is difficult. It's an under water orca boss that played with 2D and 3D planes of side scrolling. I had flashbacks to child me sitting there for HOURS trying to beat him.

I talked to everyone and backtracked back and forth for an hour until my pride caved in and I looked up the solution. Turns out you had to talk to everyone INCLUDING all four of these NPCs, in order for the bridge to be fixed. I assumed that all four NPCs would have the same dialogue and that maybe the bridge would be fixed after I cleared the mountain, so I didn't pay them mind. My bad, Nintendo. Idc if this is a children's video game from over two decades ago, I will criticize it for a lapse like this in its game design. >:(
The Starshade bros are horrific. When I was a kid and played this I just thought they had scarves and droopy thin mustaches with cool shades...now I'm just scarred.
Re: princess peach game I'm with Barry on being disappointed in the game being simple. Games can be for younger audiences and have complexity. Kids can figure stuff out on their own. What else are they going to do? They don't have jobs.
The playlist of these vods seems to be backwards! I didn't see a comment pointing it out, so either I missed it or maybe it's a recent thing. But I wanted to point it out! I missed most of these streams, so I'm gonna rewatch them all here. I don't actually know that much about these games, so I'm excited! I'm also hoping for the possibility of Barry playing thru the others.
I don't know why, but whenever Barry specifically says Cackletta and Fawful replaced Peach's voice with "explosives" instead of "explosive vocabulary" like they say in-game... I don't know, doesn't sound as funny or wild to me. Something about "explosive vocabulary" specifically rather than just plain ol' explosives gives it that extra hint of "I don't know what the Hell they were on but I love the results!"

Fawful not becoming a regularly recurring character has always made me sad. I ADORE this addition to the Mario world.

Easily a top five game for me. Spent many car rides growing up maxing everything out and collecting everything. Perfect comfort game for me.
