  • A couple killer days of dry fly fishing at the tail end of the stonefly hatch in Memorial Day weekend 2021. Also the most bow and arrow casting I've ever done, some killer dutch oven beef stew, rattlesnakes, wildflowers, wildlife, and the biggest trout I've ever caught on the lower D.

I’ve never seen someone cast and mend directly up stream

Common on the deschutes during the salmon fly hatch because the bugs are dying and falling on the shrubs close to shore. The waters also fast enough to where you don’t spook these fish and they don’t spook easily.

@@giancarlocostanza1916 it’s not that casting over top of the fish is not the best, how can someone cast directly up stream and have a tight line? It slacks as soon as it touches the water.

Works well when fishing on top for these trout. Makes you have a delayed hook set and gives you a long drag free drift. It’s just a lot of stripping.

Open fire??? Windy??? I have to question whether that was a safe idea. Not worth the risk in my book.

I appreciate the concern. We're pretty dang conservative and careful with fires and forego it on windy days. We deemed it safe. I'm certainly all for being extra cautious with fires out here though.

It's fine in April and May. Maybe you should move back to the east coast where all the other Karen's live

What! What kind of a law is that? Make no sense. What genius came up with that law? Please enlighten me Oregonians.

@@derekbell5333it makes it impossible for people with disabilities. I love that River but I can't fish it anymore from the bank because of my walking injury
