Golden, Halcyon days from the legendary Queens Building at Heathrow airport. These wonderful memories were filmed by my aviation friend Ian Austin and show the magnificent array of aircraft and airlines that once graced Heathrow.

Absolutely excellent footage from MY golden age of spotting. So much variation in type and colours from BA Tristars to Brymon Dash-7's.

Excellent memories. My first time on an airplane was 1990 aged 20, I flew from Manchester on the 757 shuttle, day return to go to Heathrow to plane spot. Oh my God I was wonderland compared to plane spotting at Manchester. I took 6 rolls of film with me and used them all, I should have took more. These are the best times of aviation for variety and engine noises, I so miss them days. If in my lifetime time travel is available I am going back to this day, like a shot.

If there was ever a Nobel prize for transport design, it should have been awarded to all the designers/engineers of the T-tailed tri and quad airliners like B727/ Tu154 , VC10/IL62 etc. Those planes are just an absolute work of art. I am not mentioning Concorde here because in my private thoughts, it is an other-worldly design that just visited our skies for some time.

Fantastic, thank you for the memories! Loved that little T2 Euro Apron, age 14 on top of the Queen’s Building with my air band radio. I remember on a crosswind day the runway 23 arrivals were so cool.

I flew on Gulf Air L-1011 Tristar from London Heathrow to Seeb Airport in Muscat when i was a kid, think the flight went via Bahrain

I used to take the 140 bus to Heathrow every Saturday morning and walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3, then went to the top floor of the car parks to spot these planes...
