    "Snake Eater", the song, really has no right going as fucking hard as it does. There's only a few songs from video games that I will just play for other than nostalgia, but "Snake Eater" and "Otherworld" (FFX) are two that I'll just jam to.

      Otherworld rocks so hard, but is also the single most distinct track in any FF game I’ve played. Every other song or music piece is orchestral or instrumental, and has a classical or laid back feel. Otherworld is just metal in a series you’d never expect it be in, and it works so well for its setting

    Thank you for mentioning the pressure sensitive button functionality. MGS3 was the only game to make decent use of the feature (that I'm aware of, anyway). It was really nice to have because you could aim your weapon by holding the button down, and while aiming you could just squeeze a little harder to fire, or release the button entirely to holster the weapon.
    In the re-release version, your only options for holstering after you've aimed are to un-equip the weapon by double-tapping R2 (this often causes a glitched state where you will automatically have the weapon in the firing position whenever you re-equip it, even though the fire button is not pressed at all), or cancel the aiming mode by pressing the melee button to throw a punch (this can blow your cover if a guard is nearby).
    The pressure sensitive buttons were a really elegant, natural-feeling solution for this problem. I miss that.

      MGS 2 on the PS2, had the pressure sensitive buttons as well, a lot of people don't know that, unless you did the hold ups for dog tags in MGS2.

      Although as a kid I struggled with grabing enemies to interrogate them, to grab them you need to press circle, but for some reason if you keep pressing circle hard, you cut their throat which was a bit harsh as a kid, you need to press it softly to drag them around and to be able to interrogate them.
      It felt bad when I got to The Sorrow and half of the soldiers were walking with their necks cut lol.
      Something I do when I replay the game is, through a PS2 emulator, I map square to a trigger so I get that cool shooting mechanic and map the circle button as half sensitivity so I never accidentaly cut people necks!

      @@leonje99 you don't know how happy I was when I got my ps3 controller working on my ps2/PS3 emulators and had pressure sensitive face buttons working. I wish I was as smart as you'd have thought of the workaround that you use, instead of pulling my hair out to get my PS3 controller working on a Windows PC lol

      Zone of the Enders 2 did it as well, I specifically remember being able to select the exact number of homing missiles to launch by pressure.
      While it is a bit of an edge case, it is there.

    I always find it funny in hindsight when Volgin suspects there’s a spy during Snake’s torture, while he’s in the room with a CIA agent/spy, a Chinese double agent, and 2 CIA triple agents

    My favourite weird detail is if you call the animal expert while in the mountains looking at a vulture you have a conversation about whether or not eating a vulture that ate human flesh counts as cannibalism. For shits and giggles I killed a dude, killed the vulture that turned up and then ate it. Then you get to The Sorrow and one of the dudes is shambling down the river being harassed by a vulture saying "You ate my flesh". I also have no clue if it is an actual thing but the first thing I did during The Sorrow walk was take out the torch and wave it at the spectres, could have been my imagination but I am pretty sure they recoil from you.

    As an Australian, I can confirm that game prices are insane. I've seen games that are like 6 years old, being sold at $10 under full price of a game that was released a week ago. I've heard stories of people going to midnight releases of games and having to pay $120 for a digital version of the game. Everything here is so insanely expensive. Some games have entire sections changed or censored or even removed. We've even had games delisted in our country due to regulations, but have those same things that caused the game to be delisted, be shown on popular tv shows.

    MGS-V was never supposed to have a complete ending. Kojima's exit was perfectly timed to force Konami to release it in an unfinished state, leaving the player with the feeling that something was missing, not unlike an amputated limb. He showed his hand right from the beginning with the title of the game. If it wasn't so obnoxiously meta, I would respect it.

    • @Madara8989

      This is just straight up cope & a fan-theory narrative that started circulating years after the game came out and ignores that data-miners found the incomplete assets for the cut final content that would have tied up the loose ends left in the full release.
      It's ok to admit that one of our favorite games was left unfinished due to internal drama between the devs & publisher.

    MGS3 is still my all time favorite MGS game. The sheer depth and attention to detail in that game is mind blowing today! Having played through it probably hundreds of times, it always feels like there's stuff you didn't know about, stuff to find, etc. You actually get more than your money's worth. That's how you make a game! I wish more modern devs would take notes.

      @V.i.c.o.d.y.n 10 днів тому +1

      Hopefully it won't be complete ass, considering all the.... well, typical game studio chronically online dev shit going on with it. It would be dope to see the whole South American mythology told in a game, I just expect massive agendized racism to go right along with it 'cuz.... well. Black gay woman in the South? You know damn well there's going to be heavy "Southern whites are terrible" subtext ("subtext", it will be overt).

      @dameanbailey9828 10 днів тому

      @ I expect there will be maybe at least one or two mentions to it but it doesn’t seem like a focus which is nice. Because it doesn’t really matter. But as a Cajun from the bayou myself believe it or not….lot of us don’t give a shit i the Deep South….we were kinda already the rejects of life.

    My most anticipated for 2025 is currently Metroid Prime Beyond.
    I've never gotten into GTA. I enjoyed MGS3. Delta will be good for bringing that experience to new players, but I don't see the point for those of us who already have the game... Unless they're adding new content I'm not currently aware of. But I'm also one of those Nintendo fans that doesn't repurchase all the games they re-release, only buying versions that add enough more content to it to be worth buying it again. All my older systems still work just fine, all the way back to the NES.

    Most anticipated game this year? I’m gonna cheat for my answer. Instead of choosing a video game, I’m going to name 2 blocks for MTG announced for this year: Final Fantasy Universes Beyond, and Dragonstorm. Final Fantasy, because I can finally build a Kefka deck (aaand *maybe* we get something for Yuri and Chelinka from Ring of Fates but that’s a more obscure game people don’t care too much about) and Dragonstorm, because it revolves one of my favorite MTG worlds, Tarkir. The entirety of Tarkir revolves around dragons and the people that live either under or alongside them. Kolaghan and Ojutai in particular need a retrain *super* bad.

    I always loved the pressure sensitive buttons for ps2 and ps3. Not a lot of games used them i think, so they got rid of them. I got very comfortable with them for metal gear solid 2, 3, and 4. I didn't really miss them in v though. I did miss them in any remakes. Feels wrong.

    Mgsv ending was actually finished the cut content was end game content but not supposed to be the ending itself, i still wish that the eli cutscene was still in the game. it wouldve been a great addition to what felt like a lacking act 2 in terms of new content.
