Finally! Every time Simon talks about that movie I comment how that guy is a con artist alright, the whole story is made up! Im surprised no one seems to know that
Haahaha, oh my days, absolutely brilliantly written. Love every minute of this one! I love the film, it's a riot, but wow, even when the film first come out, I was about the same age FAJ would have been when his career _started_ .. Couldn't help think "what am I doing with my life?" Finishing school, that's was I was doing 😂
I have a checkbook. I wasn't given a choice when I opened my account. I've used three in the 12 years since I opened it. I had a doctor's office that only accepted checks. He's long since retired now.
If anything, this proves that he really is a great conman, after all. With only a simple story, he hid the embarrassing life he had lived. Replaced with the false reality in his head, using it to make more money and become exponentially more important than he possibly could've by living it, without any of the effort or risk.
It’d be pretty weird if you didn’t do a “full” mouthful when using the word “mouthful” so good on you for doing your job accurately; I’m sure robots will replace you within 5 years.
Also, not an odd coincidence that you live where the subject of this video lives: Do you think on every Florida man Friday someone from Florida comments on the video saying “woah that’s so weird, I live in that state” or that every video of a murderer in California (there’s a lot) one of us (us being Californians, which is me, maybe not you) goes “oh shit no way bro, I totally know that place!!” Like, simply, that isn’t what a “coincidence” is, unless you and Simon were shooting the shit about “Catch Me If You Can” at a cafe or in line at the DMV (does Prague have the DMV??)
What! A con man lied! I'm shocked! Just shocked! Great script, Katy. I'm glad that Javier (the podcast guy) was more than happy to want the truth more widely known.
12 min! Yesss... I been trying and trying to get into ONE of his channels n comment 1st. Y... Well.... Idky, theres just so many channels its hard to keep track of which starts when usually what days do they come out or is it random.... I wanna write for one of his channels and mb if im 1st one of the writers will comment back. Stranger things HAVE happened!!!😊❤
Hah, I watched Catch Me if You Can for the first time recently. I had to look it up immediately after seeing the "based on a true story". All he was really "talented" at was check fraud, but it was a good movie.
So the cool criminal who really deserves a blockbuster movie about him is that kid who stole airplanes, Colton whatshisface. What a shame the production company never did anything with the story. They should stop hoarding the film rights so someone else can make the movie
Hey Simon, after 3? 4ish years, think this was one of my favourites readings by you. You handled it all wonderfully, and yeah I will also see the film again
Usually when a person is compulsively lying about having a job while committing fraud to stay afloat, it gets to a point where they eliminate their entire family when the stacked tower of lies starts to crumble. This could have ended so much worse
Frank Abagnale settled in my hometown, Tulsa, Ok, when he finally settled down. Not sure if he still lives here or even if hes still alive. I thought I saw him at the store once so I went up to say hi and get his autograph but i think he tried to tell me he was the blue teenage mutant turtle. I told him he might be able to pass for a doctor or a pilot but there was no way he could convince me or anyone else that he was a ninja turtle. He didnt even have a shell.
He got DiCaprio to play him in a Spielberg movie, was on Johnny Carson and lives a comfortable life based on his stories. I'd say he's achieved something just as impressive as what he claims he did.
It seems pretty strange of him to say that he wasn't old enough to drink when at the time he would have been old enough to drink since the age was not raised from 18 to 21 until the 80s.
Got the storm burst thank you so much my feet have never been so dry and comfortable first five minutes were weird but then I was amazed used a power washer against them waterproof is true thanks for talking me into these vessi shoes brother
I love that move, so of this video is gonna ruin it; *THIS VIDEO BETTER BE GOOD* (Edit) it is a great video! Great writing!! Great Edit... Simon did his thing. Hour and a half well-spent!
"Simon has only seen 3 movies" that's so true! He never knows about any movies. Sadly one of those 3 movies was face/off and he thought it was good... yet he claims he doesn't like fantasy/ science fi movies, when that's probably the worst science fiction movie ever made. Borderlining on fantasy since that's not how faces and bone structure works.
I watched the movie (which was fun), but didn't realize that he had claimed to have been teaching at Brigham Young University. I would have immediately said that's not true. I have two kids attending there right now, and have had other family members attend in the past. It's a private church university, so maybe he thought there are no public records? In any case, in my understanding, you have to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to teach there and have interviews with ecclesiastical leaders periodically. No way he could have taught there without getting caught.
I guess it was a lot harder to do a back ground check without phones/computers/tech like we have these days. He still conned people by doing talks etc, long con.
I can confirm for you that children of divorce above the age of 12-14 (depending on the jurisdiction) are given the choice of who to live with, as long as there isn't a reason to prevent it.
Simon, I’m an American and I can’t believe that we still use checkbooks either. I think it’s ridiculous. There have been many times in the past several years where my only option was to pay via Check or via cash.
@ yes I am sure that I am an American. However, I do live in a slightly more rural area so that might be affecting our different experiences. Up until a few years ago, (2-5) we used to have to pay an ambulance fee every year, either by mailing a check or in person with cash. A little before that we also had to pay our property tax for our vehicles the same way. More recently (October/November), in order to be a part of a dance class I had to pay with cash or a check and apparently there is some new law in my state where you can’t pay with debit or credit card for your car’s state inspection. Those are just the things off the top of my head.
@@PositiveOnly-dm3rxA DECADE? Nahhh. I wrote a check two weeks ago. For the plumber. It was that, cash or a stupid large percentage fee for credit cards.
@@Spooky_Platypus oh yeah, there is that too! I didn’t even include all the times that my choice is to pay via check or some crazy convenience fee for using debit or credit.
This story sounds like everyone literally felt sorry for someone that was mentally handicapped and was just doing things because he really didn't know better and everyone was like oh we have the humour this guy he's just pointless and lousy not to mention he's a compulsive liar we can't let him believe that he's failing because if he does then his ego might get hurt and bruised it's just pathetic and hilarious how badly his stories were fabricated
I haven't written a check in over a decade. Why does Simon believe all this random nonsense? I guess i shouldn't expect better from a guy that lives in a county that pratices prima nocta.
I live in California and the check is still used! I applied for a passport recently and literally the only way to pay for part of the service was personal check, money order or cashier’s check.
I haven’t in awhile but my bank has sent checks in my name because a few companies either use their system one has to register for and a bunch of nonsense or send a check.

Oh my gawd shoesssss 👠 👞 👟 🥿
There dog shoes aswell absolute crap
As soon as Simon said Lunacy Commission I called band name.
Simon's version of a judge "I'm the judge" is so ominous.
Leo joke about 20 years is top shelf. Bravo
Simon is about to ruin possibly the best exaggerated barstool story in history.
And?
Finally! Every time Simon talks about that movie I comment how that guy is a con artist alright, the whole story is made up! Im surprised no one seems to know that
Great write-up! Katy rocks.
There is no allegedly about how much you love your Vessies. You’d wear them even if they weren’t sponsoring you.

At uni we could send in a photo of ourselves for our ID so my ID had me wearing a crown on it for the whole 4 years lol 😂

6:49 unless, of course, you watch Simon’s channels. Then you question everything and have internal arguments with yourself. 😂

Odd coincidence, Abagnale lives in my town. I'm a dental ceramist and I made a full mouth full of porcelain implants for Frank Abagnale.

The barefoot bandit.
Do one on Captain Owen Honors next. Or Captain John Nettleton. Those are pretty good naval stories.

As an Australian I know Eureka as the one of the last places that the Rhett and link billboard is up in! Decades after this story of course.
19:49 When I was 12 my parents separated in Germany and I got to choose where to go. I stayed with my father.

I've heard about this. The big con was convincing everyone he was a great conman.
But doesn't that make him a great conman
Leo’s last movie before dadbod
Oh...this is gonna be great.

Someone should write a script about Bloodsport and Frank Dux, though its a basically this story but martial arts

I thought that. Was very much the long con!!!
Genius in how brazen he was for years and years.
P1 - Hey, you heard the jokes about Leonardo DiCaprio's girlfriends?
P2 - No?
P1 - Man, they never get old.
I know it’s not relevant, but what is that font? I like it, it’s funky 😅
It seems pretty strange of him to say that he wasn't old enough to drink when at the time he would have been old enough to drink since the age was not raised from 18 to 21 until the 80s.

If we’re debunking movies that are “based on a true story,” then you’ve got to do Fargo.
I’m moving up in the world!! Made the first 31 views lol

feeling very attacked within the first 10 minutes as someone in their mid-20s that still pays their credit cards via cheque 😭

Frank Abignale Jr. A man who didn't let the truth get in the way of a good story.
Like Simon says if the fiction story isn’t selling just say it’s true and boom

Am I the only one who thought that was codyko in the thumbnail?
Never let the reality of the story ruin the movie for you. 🌈🧠
The creepiest thing is his desire to work with children. Was there nobody doing any type of background check?
I guess it was a lot harder to do a back ground check without phones/computers/tech like we have these days.
He still conned people by doing talks etc, long con.
Didn’t Simon already cover this? Or am I imagining this?
Might be thinking of another famous airline-related case, D.B. Cooper. I know he's covered that guy.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE
Autocorrect changed my last name on my school id amongst other things
So, you have a middle name... 😂

Catch Me if You Can is a fantastic film about this case, takes a few creative liberties but a very, very good watch
Simon, if you'll look around, Brown cars aren't common. It would stand out.
You look like you been eating well Simon lpl
This makes me sad. Next things you're going to tell me is that Star Wars didn't happen the way it did in the movie either.
Simon, I’m an American and I can’t believe that we still use checkbooks either. I think it’s ridiculous. There have been many times in the past several years where my only option was to pay via Check or via cash.

Are you my dead-head?
So....he was Rich Dad Poor Dad????
Weird, looks like Leonardo DiCaprio finally broke 25 years old with his current girlfriend.
3 felonies and then you're out.
I mean, I can enjoy the movie knowing it is fiction
Imagine that, the compulsive liar lied.
Mmmmm. Ya, Tom Hanks is NOT as liked as he once was. Funny business.
You can learn a lot with minimal research. Just don’t use TikTok or UA-cam or any other social media platforms for said research.
Yee yee
Wait.. Con man telling lies... Say it ain't so Simon!
He's a lying conman. That's all nothing special in this country. Hell, we've got one as president .
Sounds like some sigma male shit.
First....
1 view in 29 seconds. He fell off
