- HO Scale Model Railroad Layout at the Santa Susana Railroad Depot and Museum.
Complimenting the extensive prototype and historical items around the depot is an HO scale model railroad that uses digital command control to present an operating and painstakingly detailed recreation of railroading in Santa Susana and around California in the 1950’s.
This 53' x 25' layout, built and operated by the Santa Susana Railroad Historical Society on behalf of the Rancho Simi Foundation, is located in the Depot’s freight room. It allows visitors to envision the Depot when it was the focal point of transportation, commerce, and communication for Santa Susana and the surrounding area.
The layout illustrates the scenery found between Los Angeles and San Francisco along the route of Southern Pacific’s famed Coast Daylight passenger train.

Excellent layout, thanks for sharing, from Germany
Went there a few weeks ago, beautiful place with great history. You get a tour of the old depot and can see the old living quarters. Very nice tour guide. The staff were amazing and the layout was great too.
Great layout and video. Enjoyed the music a lot.

Thanks for watching!
A very beautiful layout indeed with spectacular detail in the scenery. Your filming and editing is to be commended. You do a great job presenting all the layouts that you have filmed.
Thank you very much!
Thanks!
Now this was planned out beautifully. A lot of pre-thought went in to this layout.
Very insprational. I'm going to use some of these ideas for my upcoming layout next year. Thank you! Well done!
Awesome-I love this layout too-- very mich!
At the beginning of the video those locomotives look like GP40's. But maybe they aren't. I read that GP40's weren't made till 1965-71. I liked that running oil well pump at 6:44. That was cool. Amazingly detailed layout and great shooting. Thanks.
SD40T-2 "Tunnel Motor," SD40-2, SD45, all early 1970s.
@@Greatdome99 Thanks.
That’s an awesome replica of the area!
Totally agree with you!!!
Beautiful 😍 Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic layout, would have been nice to see more trains running.
Great job Thanks!
Our pleasure!
😍
All that video, and we only saw one moving train😮
How considerate to blur the identity of the young lady on the bench at 6:12. We wouldn't want her husband to find out...
What! No graffiti on those rail cars?
