Hey there Lorna🙋♀️. Welcome to the Precious Blooms family. I am delighted that you enjoyed the video. Also glad that you asked the question, because i should have mentioned in the video that the inflorescence was quite old, which would make it ok to do the stem cut. Thank you so very much for this video. It was helpful. I bought my first orchid today. It has very long roots and is hanging from a wire. Should I put a bed of rocks up under it with water like what you doing?
Hi friend, thank you so much for tuning in. Congratulations on purchasing your very first orchid, I am sure you will be inspired to acquire lots more quite soon😄. Seems that the orchid you purchased is a shade vanda as it is hanging from a wire. I would recommend that you simply place the wire with the orchid on a palm tree or any other tree that offers filtered sunlight so that the roots will flow freely. Cheers and happy growing🙌🏽👌.
Thank you so very much. My vendor is actually inside the house. I live in North Carolina. We don’t have palm trees. But I have many trees in my yard. Hi Shalani, I am quite delighted to know that you have been inspired by my video👍☺. Please use gravel as the medium for your vanda orchids as coconut husk will retain water and also decompose over time, which may cause your vanda roots to rot.

Hi Tina, I am very happy that you found my video informative. If your vanda cuttings had at least 3 strong, healthy roots, they should have been thriving quite nicely. If they were cut without roots or with just one or two roots, you will need to ensure that you water regularly and fertilize as well, in between watering, to promote additional roots. Hi there, thank you so much for tuming in to my channel. You could try super value home centre in liguanea for the clay pots or evergrow garden centre.
Hi Candace, thank you so much for tuning in. If your 3 vandas are in the tiny plastic baskets, it means they are shade vandas and are grown differently from the sun vandas. There's a video that I did, think it's title is: "how I got more blooms from my shade vandas". You can tune in and hopefully that will assist in showing you how to get your vandas to bloom. Hiii...yeah great gorgeous vandas 💖 .Any idea to prevent black spots on the leaves ? Mine have those ugly spots ..I name it cancer spots cuz its goes through the whole stem so I throw them away 😔 .Im sad cuz they are very expensive where I live / South America ( Suriname ) ...but I'm still learning .TFS yours 💖
Hi there, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. Really sorry about the black spots infestation with your vandas. Seems you may be having a bacterial infection/outbreak with your plants. Once you identify that an orchid is infested, you should remove/isolate that plant from the others and treat immediately with a bacteriacide and fungicide. U need to also treat the area where the infested vanda was located. I normally try to spray my vandas at least twice per month to try to avoid pests and diseases. I do agree with you that vandas are quite an expensive specie of orchids so we have to try to give them the utmost care in order for them to thrive at their best. I sincerely hope you will be able to control the infestation and save your vanda orchids. Keep safe and happy growing from Precious Blooms🙏👍💐😊
Hi Evelyn, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel, and all the way from the Phillipines too. I water my vandas every day especially during the hot season. It's even better to water them twice per day, as long as there is enough sunlight to dry the water off the plants before sundown. I also try to fertilize at least once per week for maximum growth and blooms. Note that water should be applied thoroughly to the roots until they become green. Thanks again for watching, keep safe and God bless you too🙏🤗
So nice. I didn't think it was that easy. I have my mokara's hanging with my vandas but they are not flowering much. I think I will follow your advise. Thank you so much from FLORIDA
Hello there my friend. Thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. I water my vandas almost every single day. Vandas are heavy feeders and require lots of water and nutrients.
Hi Deloris, you vould place your vanda into a planter that's not too large, using gravel (crushed river stones) as the medium. Place in an area where the plant will enjoy preferably the morning sunlight. As sokn as the vanda develops more roots you could try introducing it to some more sunlight until it is fully acclimatized to full sunlight. Thank you so much for watching, cheers and God bless🙌🙏
Hi Nogah, yes it can, theres a video where i featured my vandas in bloom and also showed where i did top cuts of some of the vandas. There's also another video showing how i did a top cut of a vanda over 7' tall. Thanks for watching, cheers and God bless👍😊🙏.
Hi there Rosemarie. Thanks for tuning in to my channel. Chances are there wont be a new growth because the stem cut was done very close to the base of the original orchid. Cheers to you from Precious Blooms👍💐😊
Hi Vernette, gravel is the medium that is commonly used to grow our vanda orchids. Bark may be used as one of the ingredients in the medium for growing other orchids such as cattleyas. Thank you so much for watching.
My first time. Really enjoyed the video. Didn't know one wouldd cut a blooming orchid.

Hi there, thank you so much for tuming in to my channel. You could try super value home centre in liguanea for the clay pots or evergrow garden centre.
I have 3 vandas I purchased that are in tiny plastic baskets. They are healthy with good roots buy never bloom, should I repot?
Hi Candace, thank you so much for tuning in. If your 3 vandas are in the tiny plastic baskets, it means they are shade vandas and are grown differently from the sun vandas. There's a video that I did, think it's title is: "how I got more blooms from my shade vandas". You can tune in and hopefully that will assist in showing you how to get your vandas to bloom. Thanks again for watching , cheers and happy growing👍🙌🥰
@@preciousbloomsja thank you so much. I'll watch, one bloomed once with tiny flowers but fell off fast. I'll shade them and watch tour video. Love your channel!!
@@candacecurtis4392 You are most welcome Candace and I do appreciate your support to my channel🥰🙏
When and how to watering the vanda's. I'm from Philippines thank you and God bless you
Hi Evelyn, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel, and all the way from the Phillipines too. Thanks again for watching, keep safe and God bless you too🙏🤗
Thanks for tips...hope we keep it close for each other
Thanks for watching😀. God bless🙏

So nice. I didn't think it was that easy. I have my mokara's hanging with my vandas but they are not flowering much. I think I will follow your advise. Thank you so much from FLORIDA
Hi Sandra. Thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. Nice to know you found my video informative. Happy growing from Precious Blooms💐👍☺
What is your vendor bid made of? My vendor looks very similar to yours. Except it’s purple and white.
Does your vanda have long, soft and flexible roots?
Are you in Kingston? I'd love to visit
Hi Faith, thank you so much for watching; I am located in Clarendon.
What do you do with the section you cut the stem from?
Hi Ambrozine, that section had the remaining two plants my dear😁. Thank you so much for watching👍.
Beautiful blooms. I just acquired my first Vanda... it a struggling as I live in London . How often do you water your vandals?
Hello there my friend. Thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. I water my vandas almost every single day. Vandas are heavy feeders and require lots of water and nutrients.
How do I plant a vanda start with only a ball with small roots?? Easily, help
When the fowers drop off, what do you do with dry stick.
Hi Joycelyn, as soon as the blooms have faded, i remove the dead stalk from the orchid. Thank you so much for watching.
@@preciousbloomsja I should be thanking you. I have some cleaning to do. 😊
What was the bed made of.
Hi Elizabeth, the vanda bed is made of gravel with pieces of charcoal😊
😮😍
Can a vanda be cut into two pieces?
Hi Nogah, yes it can, theres a video where i featured my vandas in bloom and also showed where i did top cuts of some of the vandas. There's also another video showing how i did a top cut of a vanda over 7' tall. Thanks for watching, cheers and God bless👍😊🙏.
Lovely,you,girl
Thank you Janet☺
Vanda orchids like direct sunlight
Yes they do, however sometimes when the temperature becomes extremely hot, they may require some filtered shade. Thanks for watching!
🤗
will the stem you cut from put out new growth?
Hi there Rosemarie. Thanks for tuning in to my channel. Chances are there wont be a new growth because the stem cut was done very close to the base of the original orchid. Cheers to you from Precious Blooms👍💐😊
I see you grow your Orchids in gravel is that better median than bark
Hi Vernette, gravel is the medium that is commonly used to grow our vanda orchids. Bark may be used as one of the ingredients in the medium for growing other orchids such as cattleyas. Thank you so much for watching.
Do you bury the roots
Hi Zenia, thsnks for tuning in to my channel. No the roots are not buried, excepting a few that are at the base of the stem
I’m from Guam and I love your video I will make my own bed thank you so much
