- Miriam Makeba introduces her daughter Bongi who performs "Ngoma Nkurila" during a live concert in the Dutch TV studios in Hilversum, in september 1979. Bongi sadly passed away in 1985.
Like mom, like daughter. She sounds so much like her mom. Rest in peace both of you. Thanks so much for your contributions to this earth.
Rest in peace "Mama Africa". Africa has lost one its' greatest treasures. Bongi is waiting for you in heaven with open arms.
I met Bongi Makeba in the metro in Paris. We were both sitting late in the evening at the West end-station waiting for the next train and something funny attracted our attention, and we smiled at each other. She was relaxed and sweet. I remember freckles on her face. We travelled a long way on line 1 and then even seated in a bistro for a drink. Possibly a tea. She told me that she is from South-Africa. I also asked her to tell me about what is in her paper bag. Contd
If you are an African from Black Africa and you live abroad this song can make you drop a tear - definitely. This is our music and these are our superstars - dead but they are alive in our hearts. Thanks for sharing this with us.
i cried while watching this but i know that at last mother and daughter are now together in the Lords bosom.Rest in peace mother and daughter.
Just learnt about Bongi and her death, oh my gosh! Anyway their voices still thrill us to the bone. I'm originally from Kenya and lived in SouthAfrica for about 3 years, but my heart still belongs there. I listen to her songs almost on a daily basis. Long live their sonds and spirit as well. Contd. She showed me : that was some dress for her concert so that is what she came for to Paris. It had to take place on next week Thursday in the Caveau de la Huchette, if I remember well. She gave me her name and phone number and I promised to absolutely go and see her. Contd,
I could not withstand and called. A rather annoyed, deep male voice tok the phone and did not passed it to her. And I missed the concert.
Time to time, over the past 25 years it happened to me to think about her.
Ah Bongi was very talentfull!
Painfull how her live ends and Miriam her only child loses. Here is Miriam so proud and happy..
YES she really is like her mom. Wow she have a great voice ;) Another Makeba has born.
It was very sad to find out that she passed

songs of her daughter to this very day... U_U
