- Mortal Kombat Premium Edition for PS2, there is A LOT crammed into this disc. From the game itself to the only playable version of UMK3 to Motor Kombat, this game is HUGE, over 60 playable characters including every Mortal Kombat character created before 2006! This is one I had to have for my collection. And get this, I have never played this game before, believe it or not. I’ll explain why in this video, so come and watch as I dive into Mortal Kombat Armageddon Premium Edition for the first time.

Man, I remember when this came out. Me and my brother would make our own characters for hours and play a tournament type game we thought we made up lol. 5 fighters max. If you lose, you can't can't pick the same character. And your down a fighter.... Sadly my brother passed away 3 years ago and I haven't been able to play mortal Kombat since..... Thank you for bringing back some of the best memories from my past whether it be mk 2 to the next.. ❤️

Armageddon wasn’t my favorite MK game but that intro and the amount of fighters and a decent konquest mode was pretty great back in 2006. I have fond memories of this game when I was in college. It’s crazy to think I was 18 or 19 at the time when this game out. I need to re-add this to my collection again as I sold my collectors edition ps2 copy years ago. Good video bro!

I had skipped over this game myself. I was playing other games at that time. Then when I got an X Box 360, I had gotten back into Mortal Kombat with Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe of all games. While I didn’t like the fatalities because they were too clean, I get it with not seeing Superman and Batman having something brutal done to them, but I just enjoyed it for what it was. Have you ever thought about doing a video on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe at some point?

You know you’re a great gamer when you can pick up any port (and a different controller/button setup) and immediately pull off all of the combos/fatalities. Nice.

This was the first mortal kombat game i had ever bought as a kid. I was obsessed with it. Of course i played a bunch of mk games before this. But never actually owned one. When i saw that character roster i was blown away. It was just a special game for me.

I remember it was 40$ 🇨🇦 at launch super value !!! The collector was 50$ .They cut all the fatality because the game was just too big for the disc for the time ,they should have released a Gold HD version on the ps3 and adding the video fatality for each fighter !!!

Don't feel bad about missing this one. I didn't play any Mortal Kombat games after Deadly Alliance until I finally picked up MK1 on the PS5. Good game, but this honestly looks better.

This was easily my least favorite of the 3D era, but you gotta love that packaging on the premium edition. Plus it was great to be able to play an accurate home version of UMK3 at last.

Hey buddy yea let me tel you I got them all when they were released, even that I also didn't like all of them because of the 2d change to 4d. But as a fan l will always booke the latest installments just to have them In my Collection is awesome. Yea I also just got that Collection with the bonus material like UMK3 ps2 for it wasn't released here in South Africa. So it was extremely difficult to get. Great upload, Bush. One of my favorite games on PS2 strictly for the inclusion of UMK3 and the history of MK dvd bonus disc. At the beginning of this video you mentioned that you were not a fan of MK INITIALLY when it was transitioning in the"3D" versions and how you felt like you had to force yourself to like them well i felt exactly the same way back then. In fact, truth be told, i wasn't even a fan if MK3 when it debuted because I didn't like the combo system. I hated the idea of combos... At first. Lol, then of course after a while i got used to it and UMK3 became my all time favorite MK game. That being said, every MK game that came out after UMK3 i didn't like. With the exception of Shaolin Monks and MK4. Something about the fighting styles of Deception, Deadly Alliance, Armageddon and the next Gen MKs just didn't click with me. That remains true to this day. I'll always be a fan of the classic, original MK-UMK3. Anyway, great upload bro. 👊
Thanks PAX, you were the guy who let me know that UMK3 was included in the Premium version and ultimately led to me buying this lol MK3 combos turned me off the game for about 12 seconds 😂 as soon as I popped my first quarters in that machine and started using Sub Zero, and I got his 6 hitter down I was hooked. I liked the simplicity of the combos. I appreciate your opinion of the 3D MK’s and I’m sure many people share the same opinion. Thanks for the comment brother 👊🏼

The PS2 Premium Edition has the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 based emulator for Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, yeah, I can't remember how many box arts exist for that version, but just having UMK3 is a nice bonus (something the regular version lacks... Which obviously the Wii version missed too, instead on Wii you get Khameleon... Just like N64 MKT).
Edit: LOL, predictable that you played UMK3 first, and about the secret characters... you have to put the codes EVERY TIME YOU PLAY IT (either Ultimate Kombat Kodes or the EJB Menu... which means that you need a 2nd controller if you want to use Ermac, Millena and/or Classic Sub-Zero).

Bought this at a discount about 13 years ago and enjoyed the hell out of it 😅 created Bruce Lee, M.Bison, and Akuma. Played this with my kids to introduce them to MK and now they love everything about MK, from the old school games and movies, to all the current games and movie 😎
This was the last game in the franchise with all of the characters were fully realized versions of classic designs.
Except Liu Kang...
Then everything started turning into a Micheal Bay movie lord this franchise hurts my soul, the way it's turned out.

I still play Armageddon every now and then. I actually made Orchid from Killer Instinct just put some Kitana/Mileena/Jade flair to her in my Create A Player and she's still saved for me. Pretty cool to add your own fighting style, special moves and attacks along with weapons, you just have to earn currency throughout the Arcade or Konquest modes in order to unlock more moves, weapons and attire. Plus you can design them however you like. Pretty cool feature.
But yeah I unlocked nearly everything in the Krypt and all you get are different outfits for everyone along with regular Un-Zombied Liu Kang. There's videos from behind the scenes along with artwork of the characters, stages.
The Fatalities were lame when you learned how to do them and all Ive been able to do is tear out organs, rip off limbs and crush heads with your bare hands. 😂
The Pits and Death Traps were actually awesome though.

Nice vid dude this was the 3d updated MKT essentially at this point lol had everyone literally and wii version had khameleon exclusively again along with motion controls and regular depending on preference. There was a glitch trick you could actually cancel the air juggles to drop down and continue more combos for higher damage.
I loved motor kombat a rated M version of Mario Kart 😅 and the kreate a kharacter was fun.

Oh, the umk3 in this is an arcade emulation - just like MK2 in Shaolin Monks and MK1 in the PE of Deception. No ports. There's also no way to enter the test menu in these emulations to configure and unlock things except through the very complicated "Ed Boon Code" ...
Yeah the intro to this mortal kombat game is still epic and my favorite mortal Kombats after liu kang got killed in deadly allience and came back in Armageddon looking zombified.

Been an MK fan since its first game but Armageddon made me quit playing it after seeing Meat & Mokap.
I've really been enjoying watching your videos, I think we would've made great friends. I probably about your age, I'm 45. Anyway, just like you I remember everything about the first three Mortal Kombat games, but nothing about any other. Some of them I don't even remember playing, it's so weird. Like you, I never played Armageddon either. I was so busy at the time, I didn't play many video games. Maybe a few Wii games, lol. I still haven't had a chance to play the newest MK. I bought it on, but my gaming PC has been down, and I really need to fix it. I did download and play the Mugen MK2 Remix on my Laptop (thanks to you), and I am loving it. Baraka was always my go to. For some reason his Fatality, BK FR DN FR LP really stuck with me.

I rented this game back in the day and I felt I same way about the fatalities. It kinda ruined the game for me. But it would be cool to learn the systems and mechanics now to see what I missed. So see how fun it actually is. Hope you made more videos on this game too.

MK Armageddon was an ok game. I didn't like how the characters turned out as far as moves and combos were concerned so I just created my own character. Create a Fatality was another stratosphere to learn by adding a string move to your finisher short or long. UMK3 was an emulated port of the arcade version. Love Motor Kombat, the History of Fatality documentary as well as the character bios video cards. Premium Edition was worth the purchase.
I feel bad for you.
If you can actually master the controls for fatalities and pull out a sword for full limb dismemberment, it was rewarding.
It put a ski.l ceiling on the finishing moves, instead of it being a cutscene that's the exact same every time.
There was depth to each even after the fatalities start.
Think about that.
My understanding is the secret characters don't stay unlocked once the power is turned off to the console, they aren't saved the memory card at all. I did find this release has some issues with framerate though, nasty framerate issues playing as Human Smoke. UMK 3 here is just pure emulation, everything is as it is in the arcade.
You did the exact thing I would do, and what I expected you to do, which is play UMK3 first 😂.

When it comes to the PREMIUM EDITION of this game, the XBOX & Nintendo Wii are INFERIOR compared to the PS2 Version!
Konquest Mode in this game is Absolutely FUN! I remember when playing as Taven & being able to run around & take down random inferior enemies in this game, then at certain points, you meet up to fight Kombantants! (The usual "Round 1, Round 2, FIGHT!" matches!) After Kompleting this mode for the first time, you'll get to unlock the Main Kombantants that were ONLY Present within this mode itself!
To be honest, I HATED the Gameplay Mechanics in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance & Mortal Kombat Deception mainly because the jumping in those 2 games to say "That was PATHETIC!" Other than that even those games have Great Graphics for their time & still hold up as Good Classics to this day.
I owned all the 3D era MK games during the good old PS2 era, but MKA was the most unbalanced of them all. I enjoyed the kreate-a-fighter feature it had, but the create your fatality was a total letdown. I wish every character was given at least one fatality, at the end of the day.

Armageddon was ok.really didn't like deadly alliance, deception,and Armageddon to much

But yeah, I remember being relatively excited when Armageddon came out just because of the roster, then being...underwhelmed by the whole thing rather quickly.
Don't get me wrong, I had fun with Armageddon, but its flaws were glaring--The bland 'Kreate-A-Fatalities' that were shared by all characters (And yes, I know the bosses have a separate set of KAF shared between them), the weird 'Air Combos,' the same few stages/backgrounds being used in 1-Player Mode despite the game having many more, the blah Konquest Mode (especially after the...interesting one in Deception), the underwhelming endings, and the fact that there was an overall unfinished feel to the game. So in a way, Armageddon encapsulated everything good & bad about the 3D MK games.
That being said, it's interesting that there are several references to & an attempt to 'redeem' it in MK1...
I actually have that MK plug and play, if you haven't found one yet and you want it, you can have it. I'm not sure if it still works though and I can't check because I don't have a TV that has composite hookups

They essentially didn't work on fatalities and animations for whatever reason...ahem, schedule. So they basically gave the player a dial-a-fatality system which turned out to be pretty generic.

Deception is still one of my fav mk games I LOVED the konquest I beat it a bunch. I like Armageddon too but it could have been so much more if the konquest was like deceptions and there wasn’t the stupid create a fatality. Just because you have a million characters doesn’t make the game any better if most suck and they took the thing away that makes mk what it is so huge mistake on their part

You are lucky i got armegedon for the wii a few years ago and it sucks half the time you cant even do special moves because the B button and the swing of the remote never connect and i cant use a gamecube controller because i only got a wii mini after my old regular one broke down.
I only ever play as blaze when i play armegedon so its not that big of a deal i guess his basic attacks still hit like a truck but still idk why midway didnt just release it on the gamecube with the other two games.

Exact reason it killed that MK game. Generic fatalities. If they had their own fatalities, would have enjoyed it more. Plus Tavern and Daegon felt like fan fiction characters.
Of all the 3D Mortal Kombat era games I dislike this one the most as it doesn't had very many good fatalities. Also you should try the Nintendo DS version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, it plays better than the PS2 port and you can unlock the three hidden characters more easily. Best part is once they are unlocked they stay unlock.

I think they were able to cram more on the disc without original Fatalities, quantity over quality I suppose.

This was the worst of the PS2 games. It's basically "MK Trilogy 2" with a generic "Dial-A-Fatality" system. The previews for this game turned me off because so much was sacrificed just to cram content in it. MK took such a dive after this that a reboot was necessary and saved the franchise ...

Broken POS imo, worst of the 3d era. Sadly, I wasted many days and hours online back in 2006, as I tried to like it but it was so unbalanced and broken with bugs, infinites and free throws, it was ridiculous. DA wasn't bad, Deception was good but also, a broken POS, until the Gamecube release were they fixed some infinites.
