I have hunted shot skeet shot trap hunted and defended myself and others with a remington 870.
It’s hard to narrow it down to 5 but I’m going for maximum versatility for defense, hunting, or shooting sports. I’ll list the general category then my personal pick.
1. Semiautomatic modern pistol capable of being carried concealed but big enough to shoot easily. Glock 19
2. AR15. BCM 14.5”
3. 12 gauge shotgun. Mossberg 590A1
4. Some sort of full powered rifle (bolt or semi) that’s capable of respectable accuracy at distance. Bergara 6.5CM
5. .22lr rifle. CZ 457
Glocks are popular because of their outstanding reliability, but Glock is lazy and rests on its’ laurels. Good sights should come with the handgun straight from the factory.
IMO if other guns like the P10C, PDP, M&P we’re manufactured in the 80’s Glock wouldn’t be nowhere near as popular.

Yes, the marksman barrel is good.
My top 5 on a budget psa ar 15 with a 22 conversion kit ,fnx9, ruger sr22, a savage steven 12 guage. The ar counts as a 2 in 1.
Glocks? Neither the sights nor the trigger are worth what you pay. I'd get a Walther PDP any day over a Glock.
Have a gun show coming up here in Hartford CT Nov.20-21st. I’m going in focused on finding me one.
I have a PPQ and I like it better than Glock. I imagine the PPQ is even better.
Substitute the Luger for a Browning Hi power and the rest of the list were in step.
Top 5 guns you need in your collection is the guns you want in your collection
Depends on the situation but just first 5 guns for your average person...
1. Ruger 10/22 .22lr
2. Glock 19/17 reliable simple and plenty of mags
3. AR-15 in 5.56 many good options depending on price point
4. PCC in AR15 platform-(CMMG Banshee, PSA AR9, etc) anything that takes glock mags in 9mm
5. 12 gauge Mossberg 500 or other similar 12 gadgets pump.
HONORABLE. MENTION - bolt action .308/6.5mm/.300 win mag OR .22lr handgun

Nightstand - Walther PPQ
Home defense- Ruger PC Charger
Wifey - Walther CCP M2 9mm
I would have a hard time narrowing it down to 5. But if I had to narrow it down I would go with.
A metal frame hammer fired DA/ SA- sig 226
metal frame SAO- 1911
polymer 9mm- Glock 17
AR15- (not sure which one I would keep)
AK47- wasr 10 because it was everything an Ak was supposed to be when I bought it. Cheap and reliable. If I didn’t have one I would get a New offering Zastava
22 carbine- S&W M&P 15/22. Could argue for 10/22 as well
lever action- I would have a hard time deciding to keep my Henry X model in 357 or Marlin 336 in 30-30
semi auto 12 gauge- SX4
Target revolver- S&W 686
Conceal carry- sig 365
Bolt action fun gun- Ruger American ranch 7.62x39
Bolt action target- Tikka Tac A1
Bolt action hunting- not sure
I would really hate to have to narrow it down any leaner than that.

@@trentonfiffia8063 no reason other than I have experience with it, I shoot it well and it just works for me. This is just my list and opinion. Others will like other guns better. The 365 is the reigning champ right now in its Market Space which is remarkable with all the competitors that are after it and continue to come to market.
Hellcat is just as good in every way same size package and plus 1 shot
i’m 22 i just buy guns here and there I got a 4 round .308 bolt action i use for hunting and a 17 round 9mm in my car, a 30 round H&K M4A1 .22LR on my wall in bedroom along with a single shot 12 gauge behind the door , little .357 to take hiking and mountain biking . I keep them loaded and they do the job my 400$ full sized stoeger 9mm saved my life a couple of times , reliable gun . My H&K will
go 5000 rounds before needing cleaned ive put a ton rounds through it ( also got old double barrel 16 gauge , bolt action 3030, .38 special i inherited)
i agree with your comment and that’s kind of what i’ve realized i’ve done with collecting guns, i’m looking for a good ar15 or honestly i may buy this vector at a local shop i’ve been scoping out . gonna get a better shotgun too.

Imported AKM in 762x39, AR15 in 556, Glock or similar 9mm compact or subcompact, 1911 in 45 acp, and a 22lr (either a 10/22 rifle or mark IV pistol)
I just bought a .22 Kal Tek pistol plr22 :). Can’t wait for my one week wait to be over so I can bring it to the range

Great list, sorry I'm late to the party. I'm a wheel gunner and lever action guy and in recent year's a 1911. But I have a few Glock's because they fill a void, the G17, G19, G20, G21 and the G40. The 20 and 40 are my wood's gun's as they are polymer and take a lot of abuse. For a home defense shotgun, I have a DP-12 with 14+2. In the home I keep it in cruiser mode, but I figure if I haven't stopped the threat with 14 round's of 12 gauge I'm probably dead anyway. My son is the AK guy and I'm a AR-15 guy some what. I love my revolver's and Henry lever action. I'm a Ruger fanboy and that present's a problem at the end of December when the new Marlin's are supposedly coming out. I know Ruger is going to bring them back to their old glory day's. I have a number of Ruger 22 SAA revolver's and right now my son and I are teaching my granddaughter with the revolver's. We started with my Henry 22's and 17hmr, she already has taken one of those wascally wabbits. ( Jack Rabbit's ). I am working on a belt fed revolver. ( Lol)

I’m intrigued by it too and am confident that S&W will sort out the problem with the barrels. However, it definitely makes sense to wait a while until they sort out the problem.

4 380 mp sheild ( for the wife)

Simply b/c it’s been around the longest and people know them…if guns like the P10C, VP9, PDP, etc had been produced in the 80’s, Glocks would not be as popular…PERIOD

I've just never been a fan of the shotgun from a home defense standpoint. Under stress, a lot of people are going to forget to rack the slide. So your limited ammo supply ends up in reality, one round....
That is why you keep one in the chamber and keep it in a shotgun quick access safe. They are the best home defense not because of the stupid thought process that you don’t have to aim at distance in any home the shot will still likely be in the wad you are hitting someone with a ounce of lead give or take depending on your load. If you select the correct shot it will have more than enough energy to stop a person but not the kid that lives next door. Despite what anyone says 9mm and 556 will leave your house with enough energy to kill someone I have seen someone get shot through a exterior wall with 22lr and it did got through the stud

Used a Glock in LE and I have a 17 (gift) but I effing hate Glocks , yes they are super reliable but so are many other brands. Glocks have horrible ergonomics they feel especially bad after shooting guns with good ergonomics like CZ or Walther, they have bad triggers and poor sights, yes I can upgrade but why? For the same price I can get a gun with those features out of the box with better ergonomics and just as reliable. Only argument I have ever understood for Glocks is in a SHTF scenario Glock parts and mags will be the most common. Otherwise agree with your 5 types completely.

yo' Heg, the AK is a dated gun, yes some have been updated. I was never an AK fan bc of the weight, terrible trajectory of the 7.62X39 cartridge.
The AK is basically 30-30 rifle with a large-cap mag. The AR platform is much better, LR accuracy is better, it's also lighter compared to the AK.
The rimfire suggestions are great, maybe get a 10-22 to go with it. shotties.? I'll stick with my Benelli/HK autoloader.
