    I’m a Glock, and 1911 fan. I carry both! Having said that, I picked up an M&P 2.0 9mm compact to check it out. Since the I’ve purchased 3 of them the sub, compact, and full size. The reason being I really like the contours of the handgrip, and interchangeable blackstraps, and the grit finish on the grips as well. Looks like Glock has some competition now!

      steel sights is for a butterfinger . in combat you dont want your magazine to fall free, take it with you. this is not a movie. the texture of the rod and spring doesn't matter, if it works. a lighter frame is good for easy carry. the weight should be on top. with respect.

      @Bigbore -- You left out American made and lifetime warranty... but I have the 2.0 Compact 4" and my wife has a 9 Shield EZ, both pistols chosen by pretty much the same reasoning described in this video. That, and how easy they are to shoot well.

    • @procrastinator6902
      @procrastinator6902 3 роки тому +4

      @@RobRoyR8R You absolutely want the magazine to solidly eject out!! In combat (literally fighting for your life) who gives a crap about possibly losing a $25 part?? The necessity for reloads are fairly uncommon anyways among police, and virtually nonexistent in a civilian shooting incident. But if one is required, you want it out of the gun ASAP and a fresh one in immediately after. Pick it up later if you dont have the extra $25 or so to spend.
      Watch the gun cam video of that cop shooting the guy in the van in Vernon, Texas. The reason the cop fumbled his reload is bc when he hit the mag release (on his Glock) the mag only released about halfway, so was still in the gun when he tried to load the new one. He had to manually pull the mag on out and then attempt the reload again. If he had been actively being shot at in that moment, it could have cost him his life.
      My M&P 2.0C ejects all of its mags fully and forcefully, even while the pistol is turned upside down. And that's exactly what you want, a magazine that you know is absolutely going to fully drop every time you hit that button.

I've shot 700 rounds through one gun in a day and couldn't (wouldn't?) through a Glock. Pick what you like. I also like H&K and CZ. They buy back used leo guns, give a discount for the new department guns, then refurbish and sell the used guns to the public. That's how Glock built their brand and became the standard in the US for so long. It's that pedigree that gives them the ability to sell at a premium to the public even though they have fewer standard features. I agree, the M&P is a tank with more features and it has almost 2 decades of use now, so it is considered tried and true.

Glocks are good basic reliable guns and the original striker duty gun. After all, their platform has changed relatively little since introduction, yet it's still relevant. Flexible enough to absorb innovation (Glock 43 anyone?), and arguably the largest aftermarket of any handgun in history. Standard-setting in the pistol market in all areas. A G.o.a.T. conversation would be remiss if it didn't mention Glock Perfection. Again, I absolutely love the M&P, and prefer it over all the glocktards out there (lol). Apart from looking better than any pistol I have ever seen, the stippling on it and the angle sold me on it. I was going to spend a lot more on a SIG. I am glad I chose wisely. I EDC my 4.25” with Alien Gear Shapeshift 4.0 IWB.

      I've been a 1911 guy forever... but I've been shooting M&Ps lately and I'm going to buy an M&P 2.0 in .45 ACP. I just bought my wife the Shield 9 EZ and she loves it. She put 250 rounds through it today and I put 50 though my 1991 Compact Colt. I feel like I shoot the Shield just as well and I've only put 24 rounds through it. The M&P is amazing.

    The 18 deg grip angle is huge for me personally. The foundation of my military training back in the day, early 80's, was instinctive shooting on a customized 1911. When I use a sidearm with a different grip angle, 22 degrees, it throws me off on the instinctive, muscle memory type of shooting I prefer. Can I use the sights and shoot effectively with the others? Yes certainly, but it just isn't the same.

      @@fidelgarcia5683 Why? They have the same problems any other pistols do. Glocks are good pistols but they are not the perfect pistol they claim by a long shot. Glock is losing ground. There are a lot pistols on the market that are just as good if not better than Glocks and have a lower price tag. I don't own a Glock for two reasons. I won't own any gun that does not have full chamber support and the gun must be pointable. There is a lot to be said for the huge aftermarket for Glocks so you can upgrade and make a Glock into anything you want like LEGOs. Times have changed. Now you don't have to upgrade a gun if it comes standard out of the box like you want it and for a lot less money. Also most new guns are now modular so you can change frames for the chassis. Glock needs to catch up with the times or get left behind.

      I'm a proud Glock fanboy. My daughter preferred the M&P 2.0M over the 43X. The M&P was more comfortable for her. NGL, I really liked the way it shot as well, and I actually went to the gun store to pick one up for myself as an alternative to carrying my G19X or G30S. The one good selling point for the M&P was that it was considered the "poor man's Glock". Not anymore. The shop wanted something like $625...for a "slightly used" one, when we paid around $500 out the door for a new M&P a year prior. Fortunately for me, they had ONE 43X in the back, brand new, that I paid $650 out the door.

    I think you’re pretty much spot on. Both guns function great, have great accuracy, and decent triggers. I personally like the look of the M&P better. But very difficult to dislike either one. Also to spend an extra $100 or $200 or to save it off of one over another to me personally is never an issue. It’s a very small price to pay to have something you prefer and will pretty much last a lifetime.

I shoot right handed and when the triggers break, the muzzles pull to the right. I can’t quite overcome the characteristic. Web searches relate to trigger over travel causing the muzzle jerking.
    I notice on the 2.0, the trigger stop nub is located at a higher position than the original models. Can you tell me from your experience if the 2.0 improved trigger and other enhancements might reduce or eliminate any noticeable muzzle jerking upon trigger break?

      @@ryanbaker7448 im just not willing to spend half or more cutting the slide on a gun i already had to purchase. At least the MOS is there and all you need is the proper screw length. S&W just needs to start a 2.0 CORE like they did in the past.

      @@phinmac Outer...something has a package of mounting plates, with both the long an short screws and they go into your rear sight dovetail. (for 52.00, and other RDS sysyeams...RMR, DPP, Holosun and others avalable) I have a Holosun on my 2.0. the Holosun uses the RMR footprint. I've just started my long learning curve to learn to use an RDS and I'll admit..I have a long way to go to get comfortable withn them. I've had them for fournrange trips, Ihave already done what I was unable to do in 2 years with my "stock" TrueGlow TFX pros. Put ten shots in the head, in the two in the center mass and one in the head @ 5 and 10 yards.

      @@stangurule1017 Honestly in my opinion everything. The CZ feels so much better in hand the accuracy the reliability of them. If you ever get the chance to shoot a cz vs a s and m you will see the diffrence. I have done some upgrades on my cz including polishing all internals but that was just because I had it apart. Quality seems. Far better as well. Just a opinion but if you got the funds and chance to shoot both you will see.

    I own a Gen 3 G19, a G48 (my edc), both versions of the S&W EZ (9mm and 380) also a S&W Shield in .45. I'm happy with all of them. The great part is we all like different things and we have these choices to be happy with. I don't need to knock one to enjoy the other. Be safe everyone!!!

    Hey Hegshot.. hi from Italy.. i use the gun mostly for IDPA or target shooting .. I use a glock since 10 years.. but i had an M&P first version.. Do you think the S&W M&P 2.0 will be better for me? I use the gun plain and simple right out of the production line.. no frills no aftermarket stuff in it .. please tell me something... Hi from italy

    I own both and still prefer my G19. I hate the SW trigger.

    • @Pezzonovante916
      @Pezzonovante916 4 роки тому +16

      The trigger is the weak spot on the M&P, IMHO. I'm speaking more about the split-hinged trigger than the trigger pull. The Glock reset is vastly superior. Throw an Apex trigger in an M&P and I think the M&P is superior to the Glock, although Glock still wins on the reset. I own both brands, and I would not hesitate to carry either one for self-defense.

      My Gen 4 19 has over 3000 rounds through the pipe with no problems. The M&P is also a good pistol.

      I LOVE my trigger? Why does every one hate it? Cleaner break than glock and same reset...the hinge can be replaced for 40 bucks with an apex duty(shoe) one.

    I have the original M&P Shield and out of the box it is really hard to rack. I’m told that’s relatively common. Do you have any tips on how I can either break it in faster or are there any other practice fixes for that issue. Being a lefty also makes this tougher.
