Captain wasn't happy about the speed being too high. Called off the approach nice and early and did not try slow the aircraft excessively. Why I like flying Qantas. I was on a Flight to SIN on QF and the pilot turned away from the approach, and after entering a hold came over the PA and said "passengers on the right of the aircraft will see a large storm cell moving over the airport, I am not going to attempt a landing in those conditions. We have enough fuel for another 5 flying hours, we will hold until the conditions improve or divert if necessary". No undue risk necessary.

According to the PA they made shortly after, we were a bit too fast on the approach
