HOWLIN FOREVER! if ya dig in to the UA-cam stuff on the interweb, You might find a cover of 25 or 6 to 4 by chicago...or...not sure You will find a recording of it...but...i am pretty sure there was an attempty at RUSH 2112. Successful attempt, no doubt. i have listened to tons of music and these two have BLOWN me away! Incredible lyrics for original compositions. AND...I think He is the best guitar player I have ever seen...and Ryan reminds me of Matt Abts who is the guy that those two fellas left the Allman Brothers to start that Gov't Mule thing. LOCAL H is the tightest band I have ever heard. and just because there are only two of them doesnt mean it is easy to keep it together like that! Exceptional!
My band got to open for Local H in 2004 at the Cleveland Music Festival. It was the night before my birthday I've been a Local H fan since the first album. After the show I talked to Scott and we did a bunch of shots together for my birthday..Thanks Scott..Local H rules..I first met Scott and Brian in 2001 after a show at Peabodys in Cleveland class act all the way..

Not many covers are ever "better" than the original. What matters is if they do it justice or not. In this case, they did. As they do with pretty much all of their covers (ex: Toxic). Stop being so goddamn pretentious and just go listen to the original and stop crying about it you big babies. Jeeeeeeeez!

@samurai5625 its not that they are overlooked and underrated, they are just a band that stays true to their roots. rather than get mad famous and sell out enourmous stadiums, they would rather to cheap and free shows around the local chicago area because they stay true to their fans. they dont sell-out for the money. they do it for the experience and for the bands. a true band that embraces the real meaning of music. not something you see nowadays. local h is the best band ever for that.
I like Local H better as a band then TV on the Radio, but I must say I like the original a lot better. This just feels tame in comparison....less feeling.

The best cover of this song out there. We did a cover ourselves (you can find the vid on our channel) trying to emulate both TV's multiple layers of sound and the straightforward rock distortion of this one.

Local H is probably one of my favorite bands ever, but I'll admit that I like the original better. Like someone else said, the original just evokes more emotion.
That being said, I wouldn't even know the original without Local H's cover.

Got to hang out with an unknown Myles Kennedy at the time in the crowd of the Local H show at House of Blues in Orlando FL. Myles opened for them with his original band The Mayfield Four. After TM4 was done he came into the crowd and watched Local H with everybody else. It was awesome seeing him being just a fan

@samurai5625 When I listen to the radio and they play 90s music I often find myself at a loss. I love NIN, Tool, and Pearl Jam. And then you get the Nirvana fans. But how often do you hear Local H? Or Stabbing Westward, Filter, Sponge, Faith No More, Our Lady Peace... or any of the other really great bands that seem to have been forgotten in such a short time?

Cool that they covered this song, and did it justice, but it doesn't touch the original. It's like like having your friend Steve repaint Starry Night and asking what is better. The original is ALWAYS better because the process of creating something special from scratch is magic. The cover song takes the recipe and maybe puts one different ingredient in.
Good cover, but then again if you take any great song and don't change anything, any competant musicians will make it sound good. i'm more impressed when someone takes a lesser known song and/or changes the style of the music in the cover and makes it their own.

@samurai5625 putting bass pickups in a guitar has very little to do with mimicking a bass guitar on a real guitar. for your information: scott lucas uses a loop pedal and has a dual output along with other things. A bass pickup is a very small piece that makes VERY LITTLE difference. You can mimick a bass without using a bass pickup. me and a friend build guitars and a bass pickup makes very little difference. a bass pickup is much the same as using a neck humbucker which is a guitar pickup.

I like Local H, but the original is all about the bass. A valiant effort, but with one guitar, it just doesn't have the same body.
+ArsenicDrone Do you not hear the base??? This is pistols, ramones and others wrapped into 2 guys.
I can hear the bass fine on my 28w amp but on my phone I can barely hear anything.
To be clear, I'm not saying there are no low-pitch notes. But with two guys in the band and one being the drummer, there's no bass guitar. Without a second guitar filling out the lows, this one's a bit flat compared to the original.
His guitar is altered and 2 of the strings are base strings, watch some of their videos and you can see the homemade alterations in their earlier videos.
Cool, I figured he must either have had more strings or an alteration. Now, if he can simultaneously play two completely different parts with different tempos, different rhythms, and different amounts of distortion, then that's just insane (though I don't hear that in this song like in the original). Good stuff here, though.

Better than the original is wild AF to say. It's recorded cleaner but the vocals are not there and strange enough the grittiness is something to be desired
But a less clean recording just makes the song grungier as a whole...
To quote a decent band's best song ever, "You just don't get it. You keep it copacetic and learn to accept it. 'Cause you know you're so pathetic."
