"In Samoa the men cook. In Japan and Korea, the woman cooks. In China, they take turns. In America, it doesn't matter who orders the food" 😂😂
samoa has rain everyday like today
coco bro in Samoa all you have to do is step over 3 feet and it won't be raining any more. Lmao
I know Nicholas had me laughing to from one Nick to another 🤠👍😎
dont they just order mcdonalds too in samoa nowadays?
@@hepimott145 In American Samoa they can but not in Samoa where Kap is from.
this guy is so cool
Ten years ago, Kap left me a deep impression in Polynesian Cultural Center. Seeing him perform in person is like watching a warrior on big screen. It's great to see in Tedx. He definitely speaks well for the culture too. Take good care, Kap!
thats awesome
He is a warrior: he's fighting to keep his culture alive. Only now, he doesn't have to kill anyone, instead he has to entertain them.
"And I know in your home you teach your children 'don't touch a knife, don't touch the fire' in our home we put it together and give it to the child."
//dying
"...and watch them suffer"
//dead
He's absolutely hilarious! I love his energy so much!
this dude is so damn awesome. couldn't find a better cultural ambassador.
I agree, he’s the poster boy for the cultural center.
I first met Kap way back in 1985, my first time to be in Polynesian Cultural Center as a young bride. We have been coming every other year and he is still the same funny guy....although he no longer climbs the coconut tree and show people how to do it - he still dances with the knives through the fire, has been teaching the younger generation to be like him (nothing can be like him)...he has also become a great artist...Love the guy.
I hope you guys able to keep up with and enjoying your Hawaiian vacation. My wife and I visited Polynesian in 2007. We had a great time. I've always wanted to see Kap perform and maybe meet him in person:)
He climbed the coconut tree when we were there in December 2017.
Kap is amazing.
Kap is amazing!
Hol up how old is he?
still in 2020
This was so Kaptivating!
I see what you did there 😏
😂
"This is a weapon"
*lights it on fire*
*licks it*
*dances with it*
I can't even finish washing the dishes
This guy is a legend
He sure is!!! Check out his video's! He shows people how really do things in Polynesia.
I’m from Thailand. I’m glad I met him in person at Polynesian Cultural Center in 2018. I always be impressed by his performance thru this TED talk and PCC stage ;)
This guy is such a joy to watch, he just has such a natural charming charisma, really knows how to work a crowd too.
So are we just going to ignore that he's a fire bender?
Yeah he's the one who attack the world
They should really add this element of Samoan culture into the live action series 😂
@@kingdiamonds2316 most underrated comment ever... He would blow the screen up. He's the real deal in life, such a sweet kind beast of a man, and a great artist to boot.
Guyz come to India more than that we ll do.. This is one percent onlyy..
@@flyandfood979 we have fire dance in Samoa, fire walking in Fiji, what else?....I think I've seen enough in the islands
his physique is the closest thing to comic book wolverine..
LOL and a mix of the hulk too
@@r49y92 If you want to see a real life pacific Hulk, search up Josua Tuisova.
This guy is a legend,respect
I never realised in Hawaiian and Samoan its so similar to us in malay "api" for fire, I did now realise Malay and Indonesian are connected to Polynesian culture
thats really interesting info there friend!
Lol they even look similar in facial features. The only difference is height and size.
Polynesians are naturally big and tall while malays/indonesian/pinoys are short and small built
Remember pangaea? That's why we got the same culture as well
Man im samoan and even i just found out about this. Very interesting. Usually the Polynesians incl Samoans, tongans, Maoris, and Hawaiians. Would love to know more about this connection to Malaysia and others. Maybe were all descended from the same people that sailed through the pacific all those years ago
Other way around. Polynesia is connected to Southeast Asia. Polynesians are descendants of “Asian” navigators and “Melanesians.”
It was an honor to meet him and shake his hand, visit the PCC in Oahu!

Love watching videos from Kap. I was incredibly fortunate to live Hawaii back in the early to mid 90's when I was in the US Coast Guard. We travel via cutter all over the pacific down past the equator an more. The culture of the Polynesians is amazing. Talk about true Mariners.... They are the best in world hands down.
