I believe kidney disease could be wiped out IF our doctors would TELL us when our results are creeping up instead of waiting until the next year or two for the day they announce, "You have Stage 3 Kidney Disease." THAT's my gripe!
True, but the reality is that these establishment doctors don't think outside the box, know nothing or very little about effective supplements, know little about nutrition, and they allow little time for their patients.
@@ds99 Same here no doctor ever discussed this with me l only found out when the doctor's receptionist made a comment about blood tests in December 2023 she said " did no one ever tell you that you have stage 3 kidney Disease " 😳
Hello James, thank you for all your information. Besides CKD I also need to lose weight and I notice that you have gained weight, do you know what caused this? Wishing you continured good health.
In countries like Philippines where poor people are so many, we cannot have a dietician, what should we do? I am a kidney stone patient by the way. dadvice.
If there is no dietitian available, I would encourage you to use what ever resources are available to learn about eating healthy for your heart and kidneys (we have to watch out for both of them). This could be getting advice from your doctor, researching online, or any resources you can find. The secret is to EAT and LIVE healthy. No special supplements, no secret formulas - be as healthy as you can. This includes staying active, avoiding bad habits (like smoking, not exercising, etc.), along with eating a healthy diet.
Great video i love the way you bring positive and upbeat information to me it really helps me know all is not lost ! Blessings ... BTW great new graphics/music !!
Im in Australia males aged 58 and just this week diagnosed for stage 5 CKD and they are pushing for a fistula in the next 6 weeks, I have shortness of breath easily when moving and always tired but no water retention or any other symptoms pain in lower back from separate injury. Can I tell them to not do the fistula ? and should I?
my dad has liver cirrhosis with initial stage kidney disease. how to manage his diet ?? he is losing albumin in urine and rbcs as well. 😕😒 I am really concerned.
If I have a GFR of 60 for a year do I have kidney disease? I'm 40 years old, I used to drink heavy for a few years and quit a year ago. I did a blood test for EPI also waiting on the results of that test, had colon surgery last February where they removed a benign tumor.
Your kidney function is lower than expected and would be considered stable kidney disease since you are holding at eGFR 60. Focus on living healthy - eating right, staying active, and dropping any unhealthy habits. Keep your blood sugar and blood pressure in check and avoid things which are bad for your kidneys (limit NSAIDS, stay hydrated, don’t smoke, etc). There is a great chance you can stay stable for the rest of your life by living a healthy lifestyle.
@@DADVICETV My GI doctor said that and I quote... "Your GFR was >60, and not 60 so that is as high as it goes?" what does that mean? chart was as follows eGFR CKD-EPI >60.00 Population mean GFR = 99 ml/min/1.73 m2 for ages 40-49 yrs I'm 40 year old male and 145 lbs.
My insurance expired n my kidney Dr started treating me different. Not caring about my kidney health, She never refilled my medications sometimes. I had to go to the hospital to get my refills there. She only cared about the money i didnt have to give.
Are you also working with a renal dietitian? When it comes to managing your diet, you can't beat also having a renal dietitian. The Low Protein Diet with Ketoanalogues is a tricky one, so you'll want to make certain your dietitian has experience using them. James I love your content....especially when Jen is your guest. But I think you need rethink your comments on oil. You say we should stay away from processed foods. Are you aware it takes 40.....4-0 olives to make one tablespoon of olive oil? It's also true that the fat you eat is the fat you wear. So I guess as long as you're at your ideal weight you can have olive oil, but at 4400 calories per pound, I would feel more satisfied eating olives. I think your comments about people that advocate staying away from. processed oil are innaccurate and a little mean spirited. I have done a lot of research on the topic and I believe you should at least advise people to avoid oils while trying to get weight and diabetes under control. I would have people read Mastering Diabetes, the work of Dr John McDougall, a recent video by Dr Anthony Lim and Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease by Caldwell Esselstyn. Thanks James! You truly are a KIDNEY WARRIOR!!
It might be compensated for by the fact that basically all the other foods in a renal diet are already low calorie. It could help get enough calories if you don't have massive amounts of weight to loose.
With everything, portion control is key. Eating 4400 calories of olive oil in a day is never recommended, but adding some oil to your stir fry is encouraged by renal dietitians. Anything in excessive quantities can be dangerous - even water. It's best to work with a renal dietitian to find out what is right for YOU and not fall for people encouraging eating 4400 calories of oil (I don't mean to sound cruel, but that truly is unhealthy and anyone recommending that should be ignored and avoided).
