I think that idea is not far short of the mark inasmuch as any new Chrysler car will likely be a PSA-derived platform rather than Fiat but I can't see a rebadged DS9 tickling the fancies of American buyers. Could be wrong of course.
I'd love to see Tim Key sit in for Steve Fowler on one of these reviews! It's great that Citroen are focusing on comfort rather than competing on handling, but ergonomic quirks and wheezy engines aren't ideal! Get one when it's about 4 years old and it'll be a steal.
If the first thing you thought of comparing it to is an S class, then it probably is as good as it gets for the price, ... But it doesn't seem pertinent... is it more comfortable, more spacious for rear passengers, better trimed than an E class? 5 series or A6? These, I think, are the most important aspects on which this car should be judged ... And DS, if you're reading this, an extended wheel base version with first class individual rear seats would sell like hot cakes in Asia, and Paris for sure!
Even the Germans are struggling to sell E Class, 5/7 series and A6/8, SUVs rule now, so nobody apart from French Presidents will buy this Citroen, sorry DS.

I think it's rather difficult to compare this redesigned chinse Peugeot 508L, manufactured in China (with chinese built quality and reliability) with Mercedes, BMW or Audi.
Large, luxurious French cars have never sold in big numbers, and this will be no different. The French excel at the other end of the market, so that's probably where they should focus their efforts. They're never going to tempt people out of their "prestige" German cars, so why waste valuable resources trying?
Why do presenters bang on about speed... most of Europe have a 70mph speed limit, this is a car that you can sit back and just waft along... as for the controls - bits & pieces, just read the handbook!! and they hold their price in Europe.
Oh, dear, the poor guy doesn't know how to adjust the mirror or to operate the windows. Can't believe the reviewer didn't like the ride in a S-class...The design is the only plus point of this car, you would only buy it for the novelty factor..Nowhere near the germans in terms of quality or use...the rattling noise is by far one of the worst i've heard in any car. You shouldn't even ask "if this is the best car in its class"... it's an insult to other car manufacturers from a relatively new car...
I won't call the new DS9 ugly per se, although that hideous clock is and I don't like the front. It looks nondescript. Generic. Bland. Really quite boring and not remotely on a par with its big German rivals in many ways. It will be comfortable. A good car. A nice car - if you can stand the looks. I don't like the Citroën or DS styling myself - too fussy and over engineered. It will sell only in modest numbers, doubtless mainly in France. A rather disappointing effort in my view and nowhere near Citroen's previous feted efforts.
It looks narrow and unbalanced as a design and I am not a fun of that segment anyway. I do love the spite in this review. What I have learned is that the car rattles, it is a mess to operate, the comfort is good but not so good and the clock is ugly. I also like that "meh" tone of the review. Maybe he is on point.
