The most divine piece written for viola da gamba. It can convert the instrument to a companion during the listener's journey to his unknown and secret nature. It is probably the only work of Marais (one of the French composers that I truly love) that makes me think that we are all made of this thing that Folia has passed down to us. Folia means madness. Who is not mad for something in this life. Magnificent performance too.
I guess Im asking randomly but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost my password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Benjamin Israel I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
La Folia is a lovely piece and one that greatly influenced many composers throughout the ages including Vivaldi, Correli and even Liszt who used it as one of the themes in his Spanish Rhapsody for piano.
@@JeanRohart Yeah, except that you can do others things while breathing without thinking about it. Breathing isn't entertaining; just necessary. Many years ago, as a student, I took these basic chords and began improvising my own variations; then I decided to go through them in all keys. I started off going round in fourths then I went up and down chromatically, but I never made it through all keys because come the end of the day I'd really had enough and got tired of it. Took me days to get it out of my mind; I'd wake up in the morning with it echoing in my head. I soon got over it, though, and became obsessed with other things..

Chaque matin du monde, bonne mémoire, merci.
Inspiré et respiré merci de l’intérieur
emotional, stately, ruminative Marais...very human Baroque....never sounds mechanical...elegant and searching...
C'est pas faux ! ; )
c est beau à pleurer
C'est magnifique, et Jordi Savall est extraordinaire, de même que Rolf Silveland et les autres artistes. ils nous font vibrer. Merci !

The Last of the Mohicans
Πηγή ζωής είναι η σταγόνα της βροχής.... Αμήν
wow so different from sophie watillon's version
0:00~0:40: Laudate Dominus ?
ΓΑΛΗΝΗ-ΗΡΕΜΙΑ
anyone else hear last of Mohicans theme here?
+Giancarlo Chaux interesting that u hear that... the Gael is another of my all time fav pieces too.
I heard this as well...this must have had an influence
Maybe is the same harmony. The same happend with 1492 theme, it have the same harmony of folias de españa.
It is inescapable.
A somber set of theme and variations. Certainly not the French Baroque we think of.
The same chords over and over tend to get a bit tedious.
Like breathing over and over again is tedious...?
