CN L515 @ Homewood, IL, with 2 SD70s, a GP38-2, and 3 CREX ES44ACs

On the frigid day of January 8th, 2020, I traveled to Homewood, Illinois, for a solid day of railfanning at CN's Markham Yard. One of the trip's main goals was to see CN's famed IC "deathstar" SD70s, which are slated to be rebuilt into SD70ACCs in the coming year. CN L515, the daily transfer between Kirk Yard and Markham Yard (and back), consistently has deathstar SD70s, and today was no different.
As the sun begins to set, we watch as L515 crawls out of Markham Yard for its return to Kirk Yard with a massive 6 engine consist. Leading the way is IC #1030, a SD70 in fresh CN corporate paint. Trailing second is IC #1029, a deathstar SD70, followed by IC #9618, a GP38-2. Trailing last are CREX ES44ACs #1525, #1517, and #1511, which are on their way to be stored at the GE facility in Erie, PA. After creeping past the Amtrak station, L515 stops at the signal to reverse into the yard and grab another cut of cars, before it will eventually head south.
