Honestly it's the little puppy face decal on the HG that sold me on the design. This isn't a war machine, it's a jerry-rigged sport fighting mech with a janky graffiti paint job. It's a formula-1 racecar with a jet engine duct-taped to it -- powerful yet also it could fall apart at any moment. It's messy, it's half-baked, and that's the point. It's great. It's trash. It's awesome. I love it.
I'd actually like to see this fall apart while having some back and forth banter between pilot and engineer regarding who's responsible for maintenance. :D

What excites me is that the leaks indicate this takes place in an alternate universe where Char got a Gundam and used it to win the war for Zeon before dissapearing during the Battle of Solomon. So it’s similar to Casval’s Gundam, but Char didn’t get the RX-78-2 or the G-Quacks, it’s the other red one you see in the trailer piloted by Shuji. It also takes place in UC0085 in this alternate timeline.

G-Quacks! No idea whether this is a new AU timeline, or connected to the Universal Century, but the Japanese title is pronounced "Jiiku-akusu". It seems to intentionally reference the heat hawk being used by the main Gundam, given how the logo itself is stylized.

For me I like the design because of how different it is from your usual Gundam looking stuff and that I got this athletic look to it similar to a eva unit which I think looks pretty good But here's the thing I always say Gundam fans are notorious for underestimating the phrase a grower not a shower so I'm expecting people to shit on this design for a hot minute until the actual model kit and show comes out and slowly watch most of them change their tune into actually liking it

A collaboration with the Eva rebuild studio with a director that worked on FLCL and Die buster and Hideaki Anno co-writing? It’s just a recipe for success. I’ll reserve final judgement until the series comes out though.
This dropping right after Requiem is a big surprise. I like the new design just because it’s so different. Really hoping for a bit more color separation than they usually do.
I kinda hated what I was seeing at first, but after some rewatches and reading the synopsis, I have more of an open mind about the series. I firmly believe that, at the very least, the writing will be very good considering the team.

I find it hard to see Zion winning the war with how badly they fought the war on earth. If all Char did was steal the RX-78-2 that is super poor writing. They would have had to do major shifts in the plan like building colonies that could come from space to be underwater bases and running their whole war from the sea.

Because the biggest advantage the Federation had was its crazy large population size compared to Zion. And based on the comments during G-Witch, it's not gonna be a thing for mainline TV for a while since "young people couldn't relate" which is the target demographic for TV mainlines, especially AUs or barely UCs entries. Getting chased by police, protests, etc. other cyberpunk elements are more relatable as seen in the PV for GquuuuuuX or in G-Witch case, capitalism.

I'm very interesting how Anno's style of Gundam story will be like. I'd also love to have Eva-inspired BGM in a Gundam fight like when Anno directed Shin Godzilla and add a Eva-inspired BGM in that movie. I do hope the movie will be a prologue rather than a bundle of first few episodes of the series (something like Witch of Mercury ep 00). The movie will be premiered in January so I guess we'll have the answer soon.

GQX seems like a better way to call it imo 😅 The kit seems ok, I feel like it’ll be like the barbatos Model kit wise. As in the physical model kit itself. The design I’m fine with as well, it’s a nice change from the usual design. Though I don’t really like the feet, and the kyokai senki elbow joint. I mean it was nice design, but I prefer the usual generic mecha Gunpla elbow joint look 😅 I’m predicting it’ll be hard to get a copy of the GQX judging from how pre orders are getting sold out left and right. Also really looking forward to the zaku design reveal. Which seems like it’s going to be a police unit.

It would be written differently in katakana if it were that way. It’s got a big G at the front, which is the ジー part, the next part is クアクス literally written as KUAKUSU. I don’t think they meant it to be spelled like the duck sound QUACKS necessarily but that’s how it ends up being pronounced either way

I wonder if it’ll get a improved and refined Mark two version, I’m going to say I am kind of hesitant to buy it given. It’s design though I get the aesthetic is the whole point with it being a rigged up mobile suit and all.
Yeah I’m calling cap on that CG model for the kit. I know the RfV kits were quite good on the detail, but the colors on the Quacks are on another level. That couldn’t pull it off on simpler designs in Freedom, so I don’t see how it works now.
They usually have completely different methods for designing Gunpla for different series, so the Seed kits being mid with the colors doesn't mean much, especially considering that was all mostly on their backpacks

@@adriflux7704 They show us the unpainted prototype and looking at it the only missing colors are the yellow, red and some tiny details. The red stripe are recreated by decals it seems.
On Gundam groups I've noticed a lot of hate towards Mobile Suits design. And I'm on the opposite side - I love that designs are a fresh take on a genere. But I'm not a fan of RX-78 and similar designs, my favs are Zeon Siuts like Kshatriyas, Sazabi, SInanju, so I think I'm in the minority.
Well, given the leaks say this is Zeon... And Anno... I'm expecting things to go very badly, very quickly. In a good way, I mean. But this is a timeline where space hitler is still alive.
I think the MS design is just a little too much tbh. Like, it's *almost* cool, but they overdesigned it a bit. I could see myself trying to customize the gunpla. Probably changing the V-fin, backpack and shoulder armor, and adjusting the color scheme.
Now that I have a proper look on the High Grade I actually like it. Except for the pack there's something about it that does not look good for me. Obviously a me thing.
I can clearly see the gundam and evangelion design mix. However I think the result design is a bit too busy, it's not very legible, like they added a ton of cool details to hide the lacking of a real coherent whole.

The main MS design reminds me of the Gundam Dantalion mixed with like the Nirvash from Eureka Seven or something from Macross.
Besides the beautiful art and character design the part of the trailer that struck me the most was the music. I need that song released ASAP.

The katagana is アクス while axe in japanese is アックス. So obviously not axe. So we can assume ジー is G, and クアクス is Quaks. But we don't know yet.

The story takes place in a parallel universe Universal Century. In this universe Char managed to steal the Gundam, however after a Psychommu accident he goes missing. The red Gundam belongs to Shuji, maybe he is actually this universes Char in disguise?
Everything about the show seems fantastic.
I wonder if it’ll get a improved and refined Mark two version, I’m going to say I am kind of hesitant to buy it given. It’s design though I get the aesthetic is the whole point with it being a rigged up mobile suit and all.

Yeah I’m calling cap on that CG model for the kit. I know the RfV kits were quite good on the detail, but the colors on the Quacks are on another level. That couldn’t pull it off on simpler designs in Freedom, so I don’t see how it works now.
They usually have completely different methods for designing Gunpla for different series, so the Seed kits being mid with the colors doesn't mean much, especially considering that was all mostly on their backpacks
@ Well I sure hope you just proved me wrong, cause that would be a massive win for all gunpla. Actually, it would get me to try out the kit and maybe enjoy the design, but right now I’m not feeling it. I’m just holding my expectations low for now, since we’ve never seen anything like that, but I’m more than willing to be mind-blown.
@@adriflux7704 They show us the unpainted prototype and looking at it the only missing colors are the yellow, red and some tiny details. The red stripe are recreated by decals it seems.
On Gundam groups I've noticed a lot of hate towards Mobile Suits design.
And I'm on the opposite side - I love that designs are a fresh take on a genere. But I'm not a fan of RX-78 and similar designs, my favs are Zeon Siuts like Kshatriyas, Sazabi, SInanju, so I think I'm in the minority.
If au uc show, it would like 3rd or 4th in like 10 years

I think the MS design is just a little too much tbh. Like, it's *almost* cool, but they overdesigned it a bit. I could see myself trying to customize the gunpla. Probably changing the V-fin, backpack and shoulder armor, and adjusting the color scheme.
I think it sounds more like G Quucks (with an "uh" sound).
Now that I have a proper look on the High Grade I actually like it.
Except for the pack there's something about it that does not look good for me.

I can clearly see the gundam and evangelion design mix. However I think the result design is a bit too busy, it's not very legible, like they added a ton of cool details to hide the lacking of a real coherent whole.

You can literally listen to how it is pronounced in Japanese and it sounds nothing like "quacks" lol. They clearly say gee-kaksu or gee-cux.
They never ever succeeded pronouncing english words anyway ^^
