In regards to comfort, I think you give all of us comfort while we watch your flosstubes. You have such a soft voice and gentle manner and we all need that in our lives. And when I am stitching, I feel such a sense of calm and serenity. I was so sorry Christine to hear about the death of your Mother. She left a legacy of love for you and your family. And I know you all will miss her very much. Sending 🤗

Hi Christine! I am a bit behind on viewing my floss tubes, so just watched this one today, July 14. my sincere sympathies onthe loss of your mother. You were all blessed to have an extra 6 years to be together, and I'm sure she appreciated the love and care you gave to her. Your stitching is, as always, beautiful, and I enjoy visiting with you. Take care.

Heartfelt sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your mom. How amazing you had her with you for much longer than originally anticipated! Your stitching finishes are all beautiful! I love the Plum Street Rhode Island samplers! So gorgeous! For me, stitching is definitely my comfort and my get-away. I have metastatic cancer and it helps me to focus on the joy of life, instead of the cancer. I enjoy seeing all your stitching, so a summer or autumn stitch parade would be fun!

What beautiful photos of your Mother. What beautiful memories. My comfort stitching exists thanks to you and other floss tubers who have kept me company with my stitching which is my retreat, vacation and rest as I journey with parental care also since 2018 with my mom and dad. Your SALS and projects give inspiration and comfort by taking my brain away from the daily challenges. I also find comfort in having a variety of wips so if I feel like fill in, a bright color, something seasonal etc, it is at my fingertips and it keeps it all fun. Wishing you much comfort in many ways as you navigate your grief. May it be ever tempered with beautiful memories and love.

Hi Christine...I'm so, so sorry to hear about your mom. It doesn't matter what the age was or how serious the illness, it's always such a sad and heavy-hearted weight having to say goodbye to your mom. What lovely pictures of her you included at the end😊. I hope the pieces of stitching you brought home with you from her house will help you to feel like she is still with you in some way whenever you see them. As always, I loved all of the stitching you've showed today! Your pieces are just timeless. I loved seeing the pictures of your patriotic vignettes. I think that is what my definition of comfort stitching is...just a design that invokes a memory or period of time in my mind and heart. Something nostalgic. I hope you'll enjoy your stitching time with friends in Ohio. Be well!

So sorry for your loss, Christine. We lost Dad last summer, rather suddenly. So I've been holding Mom extra tight lately, even though she lives a couple of hours away.
When it comes to comfort stitching, I tend to gravitate toward things that remind me of people I love or times when I felt especially content. If it's cross stitch, lately that's been some of my own designs. One is an Anne of Green Gables-themed sampler, because that series of books comforts me. And another is a piece with a cardinal on it, that makes me think of Dad. Other times, it might be working something Mom taught me to do. Or her telling me how her grandmother used to knit socks for all of the siblings. Copenhagen blue with pink cuff stripes and toes. Apparently she had a lot of those colors of yarn. Mittens, too. The colors would shift around but always Copenhagen blue and bright pink. Therefore, knitting socks or mittens in those colors are also comfort knitting to me, now. Handsewing and mending, as well as English Paper Piecing are also comfort stitching for me.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your mother. It brought tears to my eyes, because your mom died on my mom's birthday. We celebrate my mom's birthday every year with a hot fudge sundae, because that was her favorite treat. I was okay for a while after my mom passed away, but I did have a meltdown or two later on. I think about her every day, and I have pictures of her in my room. I lived with her and took care of her after my father died, and I would do it again if given the opportunity. It was such a privilege to give her all that they needed and wanted in the last few years of her life. My mom had dimentia, and many days were filled with frustration, but lots of laughter as well. She loved Twinkies and ate an entire box of 24 in the middle of the night one time. Once again, I am sorry for your loss, but one day you will look back with laughter, memories and stories.

So very sorry for your loss. It's so hard losing a loved one. My mother passed away this June as well and it has been a difficult time. Comfort stitching to me is any cross stitching. The Told in a Garden project was such a generous gift from a viewer and so gorgeous. Your Plum street finish is beautiful and so is your Blackbird design's finish. I would be happy to see your autumnal stitching.

I'm so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I lost my mom 5 yrs ago this month at the age of 96. She was an avid stitcher & seamstress til macular degeneration made it too hard for her to see. Tho I wasn't as close to her as my sis was, we both had a love of handwork & was the one thing we had in common. I have quite a few pieces of her x-stitch, including the last thing she stitched, that I treasure even more now that she's gone. I think abt her alot when I stitch, especially when I'm stitching something I know she'd love, like cardinals for instance. That's comfort stitching for me & makes me feel a little closer to her. Hang in there, my friend; it does get easier, it just takes awhile. God bless!! ❤

I was saddened to hear of your mom’s passing; it is always hard. I lost my mom on Christmas Eve 2023 and I truly miss her so much. She was 97 and was ready to go but it is hard. I spent a lot of time with her and we spent many hours doing our cross stitch and shopping for antiques. I would guess that you have many wonderful memories of time spent with your mom. I pray they will give you some joy and peace as you remember the special times with her. Blessings to you and your family.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mom. I still miss mine to this day. There are times I still want to talk to her and get her opinion on something. She gave the greatest advice and I always knew I could trust it. My comfort stitching is covering my walls as well as making pieces my family will have to remember me by and know I made every stitch. That gives me comfort. My mom’s walls were full of my stitching and she loved every piece. I had her stitching the last several years of her life. I can relax with my stitching. It is therapeutic for me. Enjoy your time with your stitching friends. That is what you need right now. Take care.

And yes, I am 69 and the oldest of three girls and I wear hose to prevent people shrieking in horror at my white legs.:) We lost our mother last year so I know it is a blessed and a hard thing. So sorry for your loss. You mentioned comfort stitching and for me that is stitching something familiar which is Quaker Reproduction samplers. When my Dad was going through his treatments my Mom and I would sit with him and I stitched on my Quakers. He passed and I stitched on my Quakers. I have stitched and framed 15 and they are on my wall.i once mentioned to my Mom that nobody wanted my Quakers when I am gone and she said she wanted them. That made me smile as I don't really think she understood what I was saying. My mom passed in 2021 and every time I look at my Quaker sampler wall I smile and think of her. Comfort stitching.

Hollis, I had not realized your mom had passed away. It is a hard loss for a woman particularly, I think. We are usually so close to our moms and identify with them. I’m glad you had those 6 years at the end to spend time with her before she moved on to a much better life. Thank you for those wonderful pictures of her…..what a beautiful lady and she looked like she had a wonderful sense of humor!……..Comfort stitching is what I try to do every day for a time in the afternoon, often to ease the time between lunch and a chore I’m not looking forward to doing!!!!! If I can stitch an hour or so then, I go more cheerfully to clean the bathroom or some other such necessary task. And I stitch in the evening while watching TV. If the program requires a lot of attention, I don’t get much stitching done, but if we just watch one news program after another (bad idea!) I can put in quite a few stitches! I really enjoyed your lineup in this flosstube. I’m going to start the Blackbird piece Away We Ride as my birthday start later this month. And I plan to start Mighty Acorn by Blackbird on the first day of fall, so if you concentrate on fall and Halloween stitching, I’d be delighted! Take care. Carol in Texas

I can empathize with you, Christine, on the passing of your mother. It's not an easy thing to get through.
My mother taught all us girls embroidery when we were young; then later shared cross stitch with us. After Dad retired, she started working the Lavender & Lace angels. While I didn't inherit any of the completed angels, I did get several of the angel charts. I have one of them in progress now, and it definitely gives me some comfort. I hope I can collect a few more of those charts and continue the angel stitching as a tradition. I think my son and his family would like them enough to keep them after I pass into eternity.
PS Your Etsy shop is one of my favorites. There is always something great to find (and buy) there.

Hi there! There other 3 are Heritage, Equality and A New Constellation. I show them all in one of my two prior videos…I believe the April one 🥰
