Some of these compilations are really enjoyable, but this one made me cringe for mankind yet again.
The PG-13 rating kind of ruined movies. If it had existed before Ghostbusters was made, it would probably have gotten that rating. Because the only ratings at the time were G, PG, R and X, most parents thought it was perfectly OK to take older kids (10 and up) to a PG film without worrying about the content. I was 10 when this movie came out and it wasn't the sex jokes that bothered me (or my dad, who took me to see it), it was the possession stuff (I'm still kind of a scaredy-cat though Ghostbusters definitely doesn't scare me anymore). To see so many grown-ass people clutch their pearls at lines like "I want you inside me" is just really weird; I think the introduction of PG-13 resulted in fewer kids seeing adult movies and consequently in fewer mature but not especially raunchy comedies getting made.

That's explained in the novelization. Dana's doctor prescribed her some medication to help her sleep. Venkman didn't bring it with him, he found it in her apartment and gave Zuul an extra large dose.
@@glynnborders762Ghostbusters exists in a weird realm where the comedy is their reactions to the situations, which are played entirely straight. Also Dana is kept away from the vast majority of the wackier aspects of the film throughout the movie, so I can see a person thinking “oh this isn’t a funny scene”, especially since the last time you see Sigourney prior to this scene it ends with a straight up horror movie moment with the hellhound and arms grabbing her and horrified screaming. But yeah, if you grow up on this movie you really do realize EVERY scene is filled with jokes.
The one thing I got from this video is that sarcasm is an art lost on many nowadays.
Kamala voters
I found that out when they watched Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein.

“More of a guideline..” lol. One of the my favourite lines
Amazing how this generation just can't comprehend the sarcastic humor.
When you realize what the roles of the Keymaster and Gatekeeper are, Louis/Vince's conversation with the horse takes on a whole new meaning.
This movie gave me a life goal, to be like Venkman when things are really off and scary, never lose your sense of humor.
Ok who brought the dog
My god, some people are slow on the uptake!! Jeezy Creezy, OF COURSE, HE KNOWS SHE'S POSSESSED!! Does no one understand deadpan humor, anymore?
Their favourite TikTok channels don't run on deadpan humour, so...
"Ah, so he knows she possessed? What a relief." Well, he's been addressing her as Zuul the whole time. So. Yes. 🙄
The lovely singing voice would be perfect for any death metal band. And today a lot of women in the scene can do that without electronic help 😅
A lot of people these days don’t understand sarcasm. It’s just shocking to me. At least some of them got it.
Oh, yeah, that’s just soooooo shocking. Like, literally the most shocking thing I’ve evvvvvver heard….
@ like hearing a name repeated.
I love this movie ❤
If he does it with Dana while she's levitating does that put him in the Mile High Club?🤔
I can' t believe my maiden name Porter means gatekeeper!
I love Siggie in Ghostbusters. She’s just kinda strong willed, kinda a scared scream Queen getting kidnapped and then she’s possessed.
She is the unsung comedy hero in this flick
Worthy of an Oscar nomination...and my love! ❤
Siggie?

I didn't pick up on it for a long time, but apparently Venkman "just happened" to bring 20cc of thorazine on his date...
Actually, the thorazine was hers. She had a prescription for it.
