Loved Godzilla x Kong. As a Kaiju nerd I loved the new monsters introduded and learning more about the history. Felt that the movie was on the same level as ther other Godzilla flicks made in the 60's and the 90's.

i feel like godzilla x kong is being underestimated too much with the critical consensus of "not having enough heartfelt story and character depth that gives the movie heart" the reason why they always say this, is because they dont consider the titans as characters, because to them, the titans are only brainless monsters. but gxk is the proof that they are not just brainless monsters, and they think that monsters should be just monsters that needs to be destroyed thats why they prefer godzilla minus one. because godzilla in that film is basically a brainless monster, a metaphor for some, but really godzilla in that film is just a monster. they say that it doesnt have heart, the story of kong being lonely and desperate for a family, is there no soul in that storyline? they say there's no character depth, suko being a victim of abuse by his father, a tyrant king who is by the way, might be one of the most evil villains ever, what do you call that? and little girl jia who is struggling with the outside world due to her upbringing from her natural heritage, does that not qualified as character depth? the character arc of godzilla who is being a strategic titan who is willing to make the hard choices in order to save his world, skar kings representation as the metaphor of the worst parts of humanity, you're telling me that those does not qualify as character depths just because they are cgi monsters? people are being too harsh on godzilla and kong these days. the movie deserves praise because, despite much focus on dialogue less scenes, they were able to pull of these arcs with just visual storytelling. but did the critics saw that? nope, because all they want to see is the human storyline. and that to me is frustrating. because as a godzilla fan since childhood, its not fair for godzilla being criticize this way, yes godzilla has always been a representation of the horrors of war, but large part of godzilla's legacy was built around him fighting other monsters, its one of the earliest cinematic universe, right there with the dark universe, they were among the pioneers of cinematic universes, and now they are treating him this way, despite the monsterverse trying their best on being faithful to the source material. even takashi yamazaki understands the importance of the monsterverse, he himself praised adam wingard for inheriting that legacy of the old godzilla films. yet people are still being harsh on them just because it aint godzilla minus one, because they dont have human characters that are suffering from ptsd and survivors guilt. they kept talking about characters, godzilla, kong, suko and even skar king are characters jester. you cant just dismiss that just because they are cgi. they're cgi, not AI. those people saying, the monsterverse can still have good human characters and a good storyline with the fights. well, try writing a godzilla film without the story of post war, without the story of a grieving father and turned his dead daughter into a bio plant monster, lets see what you people can come up with, you think its easy? writing an interesting human characters with the intent of making them more interesting than godzilla or kong? without those storylines? look at godzilla 2014, how did that turned out? exactly. why do you think the godzilla films went cheesy fun after gojira 1954? you people.

Godzilla speared Kong through a pyramid and then immediately followed that up with a suplex. This is a masterpiece
