    Mechanic wanted $368. I replaced it in an hour with a $28 replacement part. Thanks for the video!

    2010 Corolla S. Bought acuator off Amazon. A pain in the butt to install. Thanks for the video. At first it took me about 15 minutes but I didn’t line up the door handle “rod” . Also my white cord went to the bottom. It was raining so, I went to the car wash to get out of the rain. Watched the video again because I was having a hard time getting the acuator in. This time I put the white cord up top. Big Mistake. The door wouldn’t open. I almost cried, then I finally was able to push the unlock button as far as I could while opening the door by reaching out the back door. It finally all came together. For me, this was a nightmare, but it all worked. Your video made it look simple, but I also noticed you “edited” it. Thanks for the confidence!

      You’re welcome. I also do this everyday so it’s usually pretty quick. I’m glad you did it!

    He is a mechanic for a living and does this a lot. Most owners of Toyotas never do anything like this at all. Don't assume it is easy to do just like he does it. He is a pro mechanic in practice.

    Thanks for the video, applied this knowledge to my 2004 Corolla rear door and replaced the lock successfully. NOTE to anyone thinking about doing this on a rear door! The window mechanism got in the way of things for me, so I had to remove the bar between the small and large windows in order to fit the lock part. Quite a lot more fiddly than this front door in the video, but still doable.

    • @westville1916
      @westville1916 2 роки тому

      Same here. I did it by going under and around the window mechanism bar though, it's a bit more difficult but it's definitely possible to do it without removing that part.

    I work for a company that makes these OEM LOL. Not for Toyota though. Driver side actuator failed, then key got stuck in lock while my mechanic was trying to open the driver side door. Not sure if it was a coincidence. I'm not ready to junk the car yet. Will attempt this asap. Great instructions and you even talked about driver side. I hear we switched to metal gear on the motor, obviously plastic would fail. Will let you know.

    Thank you. Top bad yiu didnt do the one with key side. That took several attempts to get it right. Also, to lineup that handle wore into actuator. U did it so fast. U must have done many. Took me a while, visializing in mybhead and rltrying tonthread it in there as is. Didnt realize until after, you could move the latch to make it move and gove more clearance to make it easier tonthread the needle. Plus i was doing it on a 2004 corolla with manual window handle

    awesome educational video just a note to anyone about to replace the actuator, use a small tool like a small screwdriver to tap below and above the latch as in most cases like mine it was only jammed and is 100% fine after doing so, but feel free if you just want to replace it, yes, it only took me 15min to remove door panel fix issue and put it back and i'm Not a mechanic just LOVE cars :)

    If you're replacing this on the driver side, do yourself a favor and REMOVE THE LOCK CYLINDER before you install the new actuator! Look up a video on how to do this but it's dead simple and only requires loosening one screw. Don't make the same mistake I did and try to angle the actuator around the key rod and seat it back in by feel when you can just pull the rod out and stick it straight back in after the actuator is in position. For some reason every one of these instructional videos fails to mention this and it would have saved me a ton of time and frustration.

    Very useful. Thank you. How do I verify if the fault is from the actuator? In my case, the remote does lock all doors but opens only the driver door. Same if I use the driver side lock/unlock button. It opens only the driver side door but it still locks all doors. Thank you.

    • @ep1763
      @ep1763 7 місяців тому

      @@RoadsideRescue The vertical rod is the only one I know of. It is connected and seems to only be concerned with opening and closing the door; not locking unlocking. I believe the issue has to do with the plastic lock accepter on the Actuator either not lining up with the lock or being defective and free spinning. Other than the manual locking-unlocking, everything works right. Thanks for replying-trying to help!

      @@RoadsideRescue That looks like a 2012-2014 Camry. You can tell at 2:15 when you get a decent interior view it's a 7th gen due to the design of the dash and center radio - on the 2015+ models the radio stack has a trim piece that goes all the way around and separates the radio from the AC vents. I happen to drive a '13 and this basically looks like the interior of my car.
