Last stand? This song was released in the mid-1990s. This song gave Van Halen fans who didn't like Sammy Hagar as lead singer hope DLR was coming back and that really didn't happen.
This is one of my favorite VH songs. It’s a shame they never played it live (that I know of). It was from that era when Dave pissed Eddie off at the music awards.
Always in Awe of how Eddie would Come up with stuff like this.. He was Truly a Genius of inventiveness. God Bless his Soul.. This was a Hard Song to Cover, Very Good Job!
The crazy thing is a lot of van halen songs could be guitar instrumentals with the intricate guitar work . Then we have the vocals with Roth singing over top of effectively a great big solo . How could it possibly work I don’t know but it does and it’s crazy perfect . That’s van halen .
Love how 'all over the place' sing song is played. Remember first hearing it in a surf shop in L.A. It didn't take me long to recognize Eddie's style. It didn't need introduction... Those crazy pinch harmonics at the end of the solo are killer! Well done, Loïc!
I still remember the first time I heard this. I was sitting in my friend's car and it came on the radio having just been released. I knew it was Van Halen even before the vocals kicked in just from the guitar.
To watch someone play this was a bucket list item for me. Thank you. This is really the essential VH song for all of Eddie's tricks! I think he used every single one here if you listen closely.
I can tell that this tune is the product of countless hours of noodling or sonic exploration, and assembling bit and pieces like mini songs within the song. You can tell that he would hang on to a riff for years before polishing it and releasing it. You can see that when you hear him play the basic structure of a tune, years before it was released when he visited Jason Becker in his home. ( I forgot the name of the song, but it struck me)
Gotta say, that was fun to watch my man! EVH never got enough credit for his rhythm and riff writing(understandable when his pyrotechnics on the solos literally changed guitar playing forever), but I think this is a fantastic example of his talents in that area. Kudos for the cover! 🤘😁🤘
Any musician who plays well can copy Eddie's songs with some time and practice. Only Eddie could dig deep inside of himself and write these songs. I can't believe that he isn't with us anymore. 😔 I hope Wolfgang, will one day go into the 5150 studio and bless us with new songs that his dad wrote, but didn't release. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞 everyone.
Believe me you're not alone first time I heard this song it blew my mind and was wondering what album this song came from. Little did I know the album I was listening to was the actual album it came from. And then I looked for it live but never found it and was very sad about it.
Nice cover, dude, it perfectly highlights just how amazing EVH was and his incredible technique, as well as your own sublime ability with the guitar! Kudos!
Wow Eddie really did write awesome guitar riff and a licks. (I know it’s an understatement… but hearing and seeing it played here really brings it home)
Thanks! I am trying to be as accurate as possible and this one wasn't easy. VH is like a classical composer he just plays notes when he feels it instead of following the rhythm and hit the notes when they're "supposed" and expected to be played
I'm not a guitar player but holly $@!? that was bad ass. I'm a drummer myself but you played that song so well. I'm sure Eddie would improve of it. Good job bro!!!
This is one my most favorite VH songs. Very underrated, quite rare to hear. Your guitar work is simply awesome, probably the best I’ve heard, even though there are precious few covers of this song. 🙂👍👍👍 Just a segue now - I am a 54 year old Tech startup CEO and I am in the process of getting my startup to the next stage by getting funding. Once I do, I have promised myself that I will learn to play the Guitar. Electric Guitar. I may never reach your skills, but I will enjoy trying to get there. 🙂
First of all thank you for your kind words. Now from what I'm reading you already jave done great with your life and if you want to then go ahead and learn the guitar do it. I am personally very hard on myself when it comes to learning and practicing and would say I have more than 10'000 hours of playing. But I'm still having fun and enjoying and playing an instrument is also what ot is about. I wish you all the best
Dude. That was perfect holy shit!!!!! You sir are a bad muthafucka. That was astoundingly amazing and you made it look easy ala EVH. You definately nailed it and i hope you make more videos as i am a subscriber to your channel now. Bravo. Bravo. Long live the memory of King Edward the only!!!!!
Fucking wow... look at the crescendo volume bringing the overdrive and the inflection bar technique. Hats off sir. King Edward will be studied for centruries.
Good lord, man! This song is my white whale on guitar. You crushed it, even without a Transtrem! I have a feeling I’m going to watch this video a few hundred times so I can finally learn this song.
Holy Hell! Totally spot on - How long did it take to learn this? I'm a drummer and this is one of my all-time favorite songs to drum to. When I ask the guitar players to learn this, I just get "The Look" - Like "Are you F'n Crazy?"
Thanks! It took me about a month I would say I try to practice an hour a day or a only during my days off. I'd like to have a drummer to jam to this song!
I like it ! Eddie used a Steinberger with a trans trem system when he wrote and recorded this song, I remember trying to use a capo on the second fret play then take it off and put it back on when the pitch changed back in the day.
Thanks! Your way sounds quite challenging tbh but interesting. I actually didn't know about that trans trem guitar he used. So I just thought to play it E standard was just simply possible. And it worked out
Yeah, I'm gonna have to have you tab that out for me...OK? Great...thanks! 🤣 ...seriously, ya killed it brother! I'm gonna have to study this video for years to come... 👍🏻
Haha thanks mate!! I thought of tabbing out the songs I'm playing but it us so much work it eouljd take me weeks to write them down!! Glad you've enjoyed the video!!
You can get the same effect with a whammy pedal. Not as cool as the trans trem but since no one makes ones anymore they cost a freaking fortune and are a huge pain in the ass to setup
Great job. Its insane to think about him writing this song. EVH was a beast
Best ever, he was!
Amen.
The last stand of the mighty Van Halen. Great job, brother.
Thanks brother!
The last stand of the mighty Van Halen… perfectly said
Love it! Great job. I learned how to play some of this song but I couldn't get it all down like you did great job
Last stand? This song was released in the mid-1990s. This song gave Van Halen fans who didn't like Sammy Hagar as lead singer hope DLR was coming back and that really didn't happen.
@@williamlayton1175I can play most of it
This is one of my favorite VH songs. It’s a shame they never played it live (that I know of). It was from that era when Dave pissed Eddie off at the music awards.
Yea I don't think they've ever played it unfortunately... It is such an amazing song
other way round, Eddie pissed off DAve by being a liar lol
It was the other way around. Eddie led Dave on about a reunion tour only to find out he'd hired Gary Cherone. And quite rightly, Dave took umbrage.
How Ed's brain even came up with this is astounding.
Always in Awe of how Eddie would Come up with stuff like this.. He was Truly a Genius of inventiveness. God Bless his Soul.. This was a Hard Song to Cover, Very Good Job!
Thank you ! Eddie was one of a kind
Most true to the original. I loved this song when it came out, and still do. Wonderful playing. Loved it!!
Thank you very much. I always try to be as true as possible to the original when I cover a song. So I'm happy to hear you've enjoyed it!
It's so close and still kind of your own way a touch ,it's a great go at it. . very nice. Lm///
Hell yeah! The best guitar cover I've seen of this song to date. Gotta be up there for my favorite VH song. You just can't resist headbanging.
Really appreciate your comment man! Making my day! Thanks and will be back soon with some more van Halen
The crazy thing is a lot of van halen songs could be guitar instrumentals with the intricate guitar work . Then we have the vocals with Roth singing over top of effectively a great big solo . How could it possibly work I don’t know but it does and it’s crazy perfect . That’s van halen .
To me this ending by Eddie just proves he is the Goat. How he came up with this song blows me away
He was something else!
Eddie wrote orchestral pieces not guitar parts...his writing was insane along with his incredible talent and technical abilities
Love how 'all over the place' sing song is played. Remember first hearing it in a surf shop in L.A. It didn't take me long to recognize Eddie's style. It didn't need introduction...
Those crazy pinch harmonics at the end of the solo are killer!
Well done, Loïc!
Seems like you lived the best times of rock and metal!! Wish I was born earlier
My god Eddie, I mean his guitar parts are just pure feel. Thank you for playing it right. Great job!
Thanks mate!
Very well done! I loved this song and love playing it. Best vid yet. Congrats!
Thank you so much !!
I still remember the first time I heard this. I was sitting in my friend's car and it came on the radio having just been released. I knew it was Van Halen even before the vocals kicked in just from the guitar.
Mate. You must've lived the best times. I wish I was old enough to witness such things
To watch someone play this was a bucket list item for me. Thank you. This is really the essential VH song for all of Eddie's tricks! I think he used every single one here if you listen closely.
Great to hear and thanks!! He does use a lot of his tricks in this one song
Word. It's like his truest swan song almost . Though adkot n IIi have some interesting stuff,
This may be one of the most difficult Van Halen songs to play, and you absolutely owned it.
Thank you! Really appreciate your comment
Love this song and this cover is superb and just shows how Eddie was just on a level all of his own ….
Thanks man! And yeah EVH was definitely out of this world!

Alex and Mike are monsters on this track as well. They seem to play so much more agressive with DLR on the mic 🎤.
Yea a totally agree with you! DLR gives that rawness that makes them play more aggressive
DLR was razor edged in this song. Last of the great VH songs, and the great VH sound, still burning bright in the mid 90’s.
Terrific. Thank you. Agreed, one of their best and you did it justice.
Thanks 🙏
I love this song reminds me of vintage Van Halen, very nice cover dude 🤘
Incredible. Beautiful. EXCELLENT.

EVH was a indeed a beast. Creative force of nature. Great playing here in the vid. Impressive technique.
I wish VH would’ve played this song live. It’s a major hit in my mind and ears!!!!
Believe me you're not alone first time I heard this song it blew my mind and was wondering what album this song came from. Little did I know the album I was listening to was the actual album it came from. And then I looked for it live but never found it and was very sad about it.
Liked and subscribed. Outstanding playing, great tone too! 🎸
Thanks mate. I'll be back soon with more content! Thanks for your support
Smokin’ dude - great job !!!
No doubt one of the best attempts at Eddies playing I have seen on youtube. Giving Dweezle and Phil x a run for their money.
Glad you've enjoyed it! Thanks man if you enjoy Van Halen covers please check out my other ones I love covering EVH.
Bravo! Really warmed the tyres by the first chorus and full throttle from there in! Somewhere in the universe EVH is smiling. ❤
Thank you! This means a lot
OUTSTANDING

Thanks mate! I'm glad i found a way tjst worked as I really wanted to cover this song!! Probabaly one of my favourite too
@@Hotroad6 for me, such an aggressive but melodic song. I bet they would have nailed this one live. Good job on this. Really good.

Amazing as always !
Man you smashed that cover! Even more impressed cause you did it with out the transtrem system. Bravo !!
Thank you man ! It was kinda hard to have to play it with a normal guitar but very fun to figure this one out
Sounds great my friend!!
Sounds just like the record. Great job
Thanks! I am trying to be as accurate as possible and this one wasn't easy. VH is like a classical composer he just plays notes when he feels it instead of following the rhythm and hit the notes when they're "supposed" and expected to be played

Pretty sure EVH used a guitar with a trans trem for this song. Makes covering it even harder. Very well done!

The solo in this song is the least "EVH sounding" solo he ever did.

Wow Dude pretty damn good nailed it dude 😎😎😎🤘🤘🤘
Thanks dude! Don't hesitate to check out my other VH covers 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Fantastic. One of the more difficult rhythm parts of a VH song to master.
Thanks ! It was a tough one to learn by ear specially as this one is usually played with a trans trem
That Carvin though :)
You’re a stud. Perfect
Thanks! Really appreciate!
Great cover of a great song!
