I know the feeling of l lost, I lost someone who I loved all in my heart. Until her death completely effected me and changed me. I've been suffering loss for while and I've just not been myself cause I'm lost and drowning. She was everything and now it's taken away from me. So yea, it's not fun at all it really changes you and it's not really a good change.
at least they will always be together in Chaldea, Emiya a machine who tought a doll how to be human without ever truly being one, and Irisviel, a doll who learned humanity from a machine and gave that machine humanity.... truly a beautiful pair of flowers of love and tragedy who at the very least could be together in the afterlife
according to Kinoko Nasu (writer of fate i think) all of the fate series is cannon in thier own universes so that means in fate grand carnival iris and kiritsugu is being happy means is cannon
I will always be mad af with Ufotable for choosing to erase so many of Kiritsugu's monologues. If people just knew how much Irisviel changed Kiritsugu. Just for the scene of Illya's scene I was mad how they portrayed Kiritsugu there. In the Anime, Kiritsugu is his emotionless self that we all know, as if he was ready to throw everything to the trash for a greater good, after all that's how it is. But that wasn't it, not in that scene. In the LN Kiritsugu bursted in tears. There was Illya, his first child, the symbol of his love for Irisviel, she was as light as a feather, yet he didn't feel worthy. He knew what he would do, he knew what he needed to do, and for that he felt he didn't have the right to even see his own daughter. Even in that moment he blamed himself, he knew he would need to give up his role as a husband and a father, in a heartless world he needed to become even more heartless himself to be able to save humanity. Yet in this scene the heartless man cried, the heartless man was reminded once again he was loved, the heartless man that lost hope of himself years ago was there, being loved, with sa family. Just in that moment he even desired to change his mind, to ignore the grail war and protect Iri and Illya. That heartless man eas *this* close to abandon his own ideals so he could protect his most preciated people. But he knew he could never do something like that, he is Kiritsugu Emiya after all, the magus killar that would let a child die if that means saving millions of people. He knew that Irisviel was gonna die, that their love was gonna end with tragedy, and he hated himself cux he knew he will let that happen. He hated himself cuz the man that recieved love and warmness was about to ignore all of that to become even heartless. He cried while watching his daughter, he cried for the things he couldn't do. And Irisviel in that moment, after just giving birth, hugged him and reminded him of his ideals. Of what he believed in. And most of all, reminded him that he wasn't alone. He may be alone all his life, but not anymore. Now he had a wife that supported him, she would sacrifice herself for that ideal that Kiritsugu had, a dream that he shared with him. That's why she decided to give birth, so Kiritsugu wouldn't be alone after the war, so Kiritsugu would always know that he is loved, even if she wouldn't be there anymore. Irisviel was the one that let Kiritsugu experience things that someone like would never experience. He truly loved him. She told him that he still had 8 years, 8 years to be a good father and a good husband, so the moment that the fateful day in which he has to go back to his old ways he would never have any regret. She believed in him. And just that is deep enough to know how much they influenced each other. For Kiritsugu, Iriaviel and Illya were his only hope. For Iris, Kiritsugu was her whole world. That's why I don't like how that scene played in the anime, it wouldn't hurt to portray Kiritsugu crying just like in the light novel. Due to how Kiritsugu chose to play in the war, Iris and him didn't interact that much during the war, but each time that Iris came to Kiritsugu's mind during the monologues, it was a gold time for the readers, cuz that would mean seeing a contradicting Kiritsugu strugling with what he felt and what he needed to do. It wasn't that much, you can count those kind of scenes with your own hand, but it was enough to show how much he loved her. These 2 are the must underrated couple in all of nasuverse, and it's a shame, they are angsty as fuck.
Kiritsugu is a true tragic hero. He should have quit the grail wars and eloped away with his family as he wanted to. In the end he lost everything and Kirei won it all. He never even saw his daughter again. Sad ending. He should have abandoned the grail war if this was real.
Why is the Emiya family still here? Just to suffer? Why does the Emiya family always end in tragedy? It's simple, really... The world never deserved them.

actually no.. kirei killed irisviel, so she could be used as a vessel for the holy grail. later on Kiritsugu is inside the holy grail and it gives him illusions of his family.. when he realizes that it's just in his head, he kills them to get out of the grail.
