He should have won for Interstellar, what a movie. Oppenheimer is a masterpiece of movie. I still remember, everyone in Prasads theatre, Hyderabad were giving a standing ovation. Well deserved
I've been waiting for this moment since I saw The Prestige for the first time back in 2007. As a fan I'm so happy for him. Hopefully the first of a few
Congratulations Christoper Nolan! Over 20 years of making incredible movies, well deserved Oscar win for best director. Oppenheimer is an absolute masterpiece.
Congratulations Christopher! you have made work that is as timeless as your muses and personal heroes have made. Our generation is so grateful to have an auteur like you ❤ Much Love from India
Congratulations!!! So happy for him. He totally deserves it. His filmography is legendary even if they did not get the major awards. Oppenheimer was a phenomenal production for cinema.
I became a movie during 2007-2008 (2007 had movies like No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Juno, Sweeney Todd, Enchanted, Atonement, Michael Clayton and Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, only mentioned the latter because the characterization Professor Umbridge is fricki n' impressive) and I was severely blowned away by 2008's The Dark Knight. To me (Personally) The Dark Knight felt very much like what people experienced with Star Wars: A New Hope back in 1977. I actually could never shut up about the movie (The Dark Knight) since I kept repeating Christopher Nolan could win too many awards if he made a movie about Robert Oppenheimer and that is what exactly what's been happening. Very happy to see this moment.
By historical standards it’s actually still relatively early in his career to win an Oscar. Scorsese didn’t win one until he’d been making movies for 40 years. Tarantino has never won for best director (he did for best script in Pulp fiction, though).
“It’s a thrill”… “look forward to celebrate with family”.. Chris Nolan at those moments of glory and adulations, to say those words make you what you are. you are special for the humanity. -Bidhu K Mohanti, Bhubaneswar,India
He's a worthy winner, one of the best acceptance speaches of the evening so classy and felt, a true gentleman. He deserved a nomination back in 2009 for dark knight, and should've won in 2011 with inception altough he wasn't even nominated, also for interstellar back in 2015 but was hugely overlooked. Then came dunkirk wich was the breaktrough that gave him his first nomination for directing. The academy tends to do this kind of thing but let's keep in mind that great artists like Stanley Kubrick never got an oscar for his art... At least Chris got his but to me he won a long time ago and gave me one of the quintessential filmographies of my life... Thank you for so much already waiting for the next.
So well-deserved. Oppenheimer isn’t my favourite Nolan film, but this man has given us so many marvellous films over the last 20 years that it’s about time he got this kind of recognition 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
If I’ve won an Oscar when expecting to win an Oscar; you’re absolutely correct that’d be a thrill to win the Oscar!! Sin embargo, no me engañarían para que hiciera rayas como lo hizo John
It’s funny, some people put the award down for this bit so that way they aren’t awkwardly holding it while talking. But not Nolan. He’s worked hard for those and he isn’t letting go of them for anything 😂
I'm sure this video is some kind of nolan movie where the plot is a time-warped delayed oscar win that should actually have happened not only years ago, but for every movie since memento... or did we just forget? ;) let's be real: the only reason they didn't want him to win until now is because they wanted to see how much he pushes the boundries with each movie until the oscar statuette finally won nolan
Finally Chris received so much happy today he must have received for Prestige movie itself but again thanks for again oscar for sharing this happiest moment
Congratulations for a wonderful movie. I just made the genetic connection to Julius 'J' Robert Oppenheimer via my Oppenheimer, Friedman, Stern, lineage from Germany. My birth mother was from Alsace and her mother, Julich family from Weisbaden, Hessen, Germany. I am honored the Oppenheimer family are my distant cousins...
The movie you mentioned was a ridiculous movie that tried to portray the British defeat as some kind of British victory. It contained absurd British nationalism. He didn't promise anything in terms of directing.@@mishtaromaniello8295
He should've won prior, but Hollywood waited until he made a BIOPIC movie about a JEW , because all his previous efforts were too far out there and fictional, because the Academy LOVES Biopics, especially when it's about a smart JEW LMAO
Even though I love his movies, I have to admit that Nolan is the propaganda director of the US state. Oppenheimer is a murderer and a monster. This movie was produced for Americans. It has no equivalent in world societies. Oscar has done this many times before. They gave awards to American nationalist films such as The Hurt Locker and Argo. Academy was a shame. It was a dark night for the art of cinema! Why did they ignore Scorsese? Masterpieces such as Killers of the Floower Moon and Irishman were not rewarded. You are killing classical cinema. I guess seeking the rights of Indians was too much for some people. Likewise, the role of the insidious Jew who destroys the nation's property, played by Robert De Niro. Poor academy. Poor USA. Shame on you! Keep whitewashing American history, Nolan!
Sorry, thats Bullshit. I am from Europe and it is not produced for Americans. It is no a "Happy Ending Movie". Did you even see the movie? The best of the best will win at the Oscars. Not the best with the best political propaganda / agenda. You are wrong here.
It’s subtle enough to where a lot of people don’t notice but you’re definitely right. It’s crazy how many people don’t realize that Dark Knight basically surveillance state propaganda. Batman spying no the people of Gotham city is literally what ends up saving the day at the end and is portrayed as a necessary evil to fight the joker who basically represents post 9/11 terrorism. Even though Lucius give a brief spiel about how it feels wrong and they end up destroying the device, that still doesn’t change the fact that the act of surveying the citizens without their consent ended up saving the day and Batman is still portrayed as a hero despite doing it. Although I disagree with your notion that classic cinema wasn’t also propagandistic at times. There were plenty of people making films throughout all of cinematic history who were pushing government narratives, they just try to make it more subtle now.
@@Magnesiumbaum are you kidding? Argo and Hurt Locker were garbage movies. It was a propaganda. The academy is a garbage! Did you remember? Obama gave the award??? Moreover you are a Europe citizen. Shame on you.
He won Oscars in our hearts at the time when he made Inception, the dark knight and Interstellar.
True bro
Memento
To be honest, there were better directors those two years, like Fincher and Iñarritu.
Interstellar is overrated
And the dark knight
His smile says it all, I have seen many Nolan interviews but here he looks genuinely happy.
I was thinkin the same he’s actually enjoying himself for once after always seeming so tight in all his interviews😂
@@Babyjesus32I think he’s just quite a nervous and introverted person. But I agree it’s great to see him smiling and just enjoying the moment
I'm so happy that Christopher Nolan won for Best Director. Well deserved and long overdue.
He’s seriously the best director of the last 20 years. 🐐 GOAT
He should have won for Interstellar, what a movie. Oppenheimer is a masterpiece of movie. I still remember, everyone in Prasads theatre, Hyderabad were giving a standing ovation. Well deserved
KING, so well deserved... one of the finest filmmakers of the century
It's been a journey for all nolan fans🎉
I believed in Nolan from the start of awards season. Long journey but I'm glad my boi has his golden statues. Praise Nolan!

You deserved it sir. Finally saw you get what you deserved 👑
He played it so casually to the first lady knowing him from school 😂 . I would have been more shocked but he is British so always casual reactions 😂
As a Brit.. I’m not sure I’d agree

That was the Oscar to all epic movie fans. He deserves the hell out of it.
He looks SO happy and that makes me extremely happy too! So long overdue and very well deserved 👏

"Ahh, there is the voice coming from" was in his mind I think :D
Kinda cute. It's rare to see him so relaxed and goofy.
He's just happy :)
Mr Nolan deserved it LONG TIME AGO! I'm proud
The jokes, the relaxation in his answers. You can really tell that everyone who worked at Oppenheimer absorbed a little bit of RDJ's personality
Most moronic comment award!
The whole cast is so vocal about the wonderful and creative time on Nolan's set! That's talents meeting talents ❤

It will be Sir Christopher Nolan soon.

Nolan like Di Caprio should have won long time back ... But as they say perseverance is always rewarded.
Best Director ever! PERIOD
He should off gotten one for Memento, if we're using Get out as a bar one needs to reach, Dark knight, Interstellar, Inception, pick and fkn choose.
He could’ve won this for literally any of his films (except Tenet) but I’m so glad it was this one. 🙏🏻
Tenet (2020), like all of Nolan's films, was masterful. Unfortunately, like Inception (2010), people "just didn't get it."

I'd love to see him direct a horror film.
I thought he'd won at least one Oscar before. This is news to me
Inception should have won screenplay against king speech
He sounds intelligent
Nolan is a happy camper after getting snubbed a million times
Its a sin that he didn’t win an oscar till now
I thought the quote was "don't cheese it". Glad Nolan said it again, because it made no sense to me.
