Despite the innovative production quality, these are comfortably my favourite book review videos. And it is fantastic to see you back in form after your recent medical tribulation.

Great list! I need to try several of them. I was surprised that Connelly wasn’t #1. I need to read more Lehane!

If you like Tony Hillerman's books, I recommend you try Margaret Coel's Wind River series. Good stuff set on the Wind River reservation in Wyoming.

Really big fan of your videos especially these top 10 countdowns!
I’m interested in reading the Leaphorn and Chee series but noticed that The Dark Wind is actually #5. Do you recommend starting with that one or The Blessing Way?
You’ve also recomended Skinwalkers in one of your other videos…
Anyway, thanks for the great content and I’m happy to see you’re doing well!

Dennis Lehane is definitely my favorite mystery writer, but he is one also one of my go to writers of all time, along with Robert McCammon. The Kenzie and Genaro series is great but even better is his Coughlin series, a true work of a master.

As a fellow mystery enjoyer, i wanted to recommend two authors:
    1) R. D. Wingfield. His Inspector Frost series has only 6 books but they are all a banger.
    2) Thomas H. Cook. Most of his book is standalones, but they all have similar vibes. Very melancholic writing and the protagonist usually does not features a cop/detective.

Thank you Brian for your list - great ideas for more good reading.
Whilst I haven't read some of the authors you have mentioned, I agree with most of your ranking.
I would probably rank Robert Galbraith a little higher, and I would include Lawrence Block's 'Matthew Scudder' series an unfortunate omission.
Maybe next time you could do a 'Top 20' list with 40 book series, and include John Connolly's Parker series and Donald Hamilton's 'Matt Helm' series.
    Bravo though.

I read A Drink Before The War this year and loved it. Definitely going back for more Kenzie and Genarro. Just a few weeks ago I read Mystic River, what a heavy hitter. Lehane is a master story teller.

I left a longer comment about how much I love the Bosch series, but YT deleted it. Probably because of two things I said Connelly didn’t do. I’ve read The Lincoln Lawyer, Echo Park, The Overlook, and then everything published since The Wrong Side of Goodbye. In 2025, I’m going to pick up every Connelly book is publication order from The Black Echo up to The Wrong Side of Goodbye.

Great list, but to whoever's reading this don't listen to Durfee on his recommendation of starting the Penn Cage series at Natchez Burning. It starts with The Quiet Game and that's where you should start. Every book in the Penn Cage series is amazing

Hello Brian. Can you please review a few of your favorite fantasy art books some time? Frazetta, Eggleton, Whelan, Pennington, Howe and many other great artists have produced beautiful works and it would be nice to hear your opinion on their collections.

I too love Elizabeth George & her Insp. Lynley series. Elizabeth George is an American and not from the UK. But she is able to capture the English setting, the difference between the working class and upper class, etc to the T. I would have never dreamed she wasn't British. Brian, do you know how she is able to pull this off so flawlessly?
Thank you for adding the Wallander series by Henning Mankell. It has also been made into a TV series with Swedish actors. Of course I have to watch it with captions but I think it might be a little better than the Kenneth Branagh English language series.
Brian, much respect to you from Larry.

@ Holy smokes bro. I realize you don’t know me from Adam but I pretty much have the same taste as you for Thrillers and Mysteries. Vince Flynn is the GOAT. Highly recommend you add him to your TBR. The first one I read was Transfer of Power which is the first time he wrote Mictch Rapp. He later released 2 prequels which the official reading order has as the 1st 2 books in the series. I hope you give it a shot. Take care.

This is it. I truly hope when you are working at the prison that you were not in charge of roll call. I don't think I've seen anybody have more difficulty with numbers. Than you. Lol😂😂😂 top 10 list with honorable mentions and then you start off with your top. Then you start willy-nilly randomly putting books in different order. Another successful video sir. 😊
