I love your top tens. You helped me branch out my reading interests, and it's great to see a booktuber that recommends more than the same five or six fantasy series
Read Ken Follett's Century trilogy. Follows multiple families during WW1, the second book follows them during ww2 and the third during the cold war. Top tier stuff I tell ya 😆
A Too Ten video!!! That's how I got hooked on this, the best in the universe, channel!!! I have been a bad channel supporter, and haven't been watching lately, but I'm so glad I caught this one. Now to go back and watch to see if you edited that drink out.
Hey Brian you're Five Warrior Angels trilogy is one of my alley time favorites. Will we ever get any more books from you in this world or even other worlds?
So many good books on your list Brian. I've never heard of Steven Saylor, but those books sound fantastic, so I'll definitely check those out. A lot of stuff on this list that I've been meaning to read as well. Have you ever read anything by Christian Cameron? So far I've only read his Tom Swan series which follows the adventures of a young man throughout 15th century Italy and Greece. They are a blast and quick reads as well. He has a bunch of other historical fiction I've been meaning to read.
Thank you for your recommendations! Durfee have you read Santiago Posteguillo's work? he writes historical fiction set in ancient Rome. Check out his Scipio Africanus trilogy if you haven't. Love your top 10s, always cheers me up how they never are only 10.
Great list of ones i want to read! Id love to see top 10 westerns only, always loved them. Maybe ones that are gold from yesteryear and any new ones that are good
This is a really nice list thx! As a fan of the genre I would add P.F. Chisholm, her Sir Robert Carey series is a wonderful humorous insightful portrayal of Elizabethan England with a highlight on the Scotch Border. Her real name I think is Patricia Finney, and the Elizabethan Noir Trilogy is great too. Another historical fiction author is Cecilia Holland, love everything she wrote! the Life and Times of Corbin Loosestrife, a Viking Saga, has mystical elements and lots of location changes, top notch. Peace y'all!
I remember an old top 10 (17) video you did and you spoke about North and South so I bought it from eBay. It came with the worst, tv tie in cover imaginable and it totally put me off ever reading it. It’s been on my book case for ages. After watching the video and seeing you rank it so highly again I’m going to pick it up next, one I’ve finished the fantasy and Sci fi books I’m currently reading. Thanks Brian
Have read Vidal's and several of the books are fantastic while others a bit hit or miss. Not really a series though with carry through characters or families
Ahhh, do you put Warlord Chronicles in a historical fantasy category because that is my second favorite series of all time after LOTR! Please, please, pretty please buy the following books in your next book haul!! Boudica Series by Manda Scott, all of Christopher Buehlman’s catalogue from Those Across the River to The Daughter’s War! Last but not least Ferida Lennon’s debut Glorious Exploits! You may have to buy another bookcase!!
I'm reading the Sackett Series with a group of people on Booktube called The Wagon Train and I'm not impressed with the series so far... Book 1 was fabulous but I'm on book 6 Datbreakers and I think they have gotten worse... I'm hopeful the weatern aspect in the later series will get back to the Louis L'Amour I know and love.
I'm reading Pillars of the Earth now and loving it. I'm thinking about picking up the Balian of D'Ibelin series (Knight of Jerusalsm) by Helena P. Schrader. (I find the movie Kingdom of Heaven interesting, if inaccurate.) Anyone have thoughts about that?

Looking better these days glad to see you with more energy!
More energy? Geez, he's already hyperactive.
Thank you Durfee for spoiling us once again with a 20 book top 10. This is why your channel is the greatest tv program in the history of humanity
Not just humanity, don't ya know - the entire universe! 😊

Looking good and healthy, my friend! Even the way you're talking, I can see you're in a good place 💪🏻
Good top 10! Got me some fomo on some of them
Every top 10 becomes a top 20. I love this man
The final Matthew Corbett book just released, looking forward to your review
In true BLeeD fashion, starting the top 10 with number 20. The man is a national treasure.
Thanks again Brian!! Spot on as usual.
Hey Brian you're Five Warrior Angels trilogy is one of my alley time favorites. Will we ever get any more books from you in this world or even other worlds?
Perfect timing, thanks!
Great job. And great to see you feeling better.
Amazing, Brian. Great editing. The video is smooth as eggs.
Smooth as lotion cream

I agree with you on the number one pick. Great books by McMurtry.

I love your favorites lists!
Awesome list Brian, I am sending it to my brothers 🥳🤠🥳
Love the shirt! Your choices match mine nearly perfectly.
Love the effort, so glad you went to 20. I would have left the sci-fi/fantasy series out though as they were meant for a little different audience.
So happy you are feeling better. Great Video!!! My favorite WW2 novel is "WOUNDED TIGER" by T Martin Bennett
Since you like C.J. Sansom, you might want to try the Giordano Bruno series by SJ Parris. Great stuff.
I am so blessed that I live in a time to witness the greatest television program in the history of mankind
Great list of ones i want to read! Id love to see top 10 westerns only, always loved them. Maybe ones that are gold from yesteryear and any new ones that are good
Wilbur Smith Courtney series is really underrated on booktube
I love that you dont edit the bloopers and the mispronunciations. They are hilarious 😂 3:05

all great books and series. Have read many.
Finally got to the Sharpe series, 12 books in, fantastic. He is still adding to it.
Brian Lee Durfee - Booktuber GOAT
No Dorothy Dunnett!? The Lymond Chronicles, The House of Niccolò Have you even read them?
Just added her to my list. Thanks for bringing up another author to checkout apart from this list!
You're looking good, man.
Cornwell is just great and his Uthred Saga indeed his best work.
Robert Harris writes great historical fiction btw.
Loved North and South etc. in highschool, should give it a reread
"Hella super wicked and dope"
What up Lee Durfee u got this man
Awesome list. Always wanted to read that Colleen McCullough series. Do you not like or haven't read Gore Vidal's NARRATIVE OF THE EMPIRE series?
Have read Vidal's and several of the books are fantastic while others a bit hit or miss. Not really a series though with carry through characters or families
Brian, what do you think about James A.Micheners historical romans? I thought he was one of the big genere writers, especially in America?
He’s reviewed Michener
Alaska is one of Brian’s favorite novels.
Before I watch this I just wanted to say you are looking good. You look healthy!
Love your picks but would have added Flashman series by George MacDonald Fraser
Flashman series is beyond hilarious
The Kent Family Chronicles is excellent. I've read it twice and if you like audio books these are top notch!!
Ahhh, do you put Warlord Chronicles in a historical fantasy category because that is my second favorite series of all time after LOTR!

Is anyone else surprised that "The Warlord Cronicles" from Bernard Cornwell did not make the list?
It's a really cool ranking, though!!
Surprise, I have Steven Saylor book from library right here.
Keep on reading!
When I grow up I hope to be as well read as Brian Lee ! HAAIIYAAAA
